Awesome. I'm guessing all of the bugs that were in the PS2 version are going to be fixed?
I can't wait. I'm not sure why, but it seems really cool. |

...why?
Wasn't the entire point of ITG to breath new life into dancing games with harder steps, and new mods and poopy? We already have that for PC, its called Stepmania. Who the heck will actually buy this when its availible for free anyway? |

I'm so happy that you can now buy a port of Stepmania for the PC when you can still download Stepmania for free....
Come on RoXoR, announce the release of ITG2 for PS2 and Xbox already! |

I'm not buying a game that I've been able to download freely, with songs and steps that are openly available on ITGFreak. I figure if they're allowing people to create official simfiles and pass them around at no charge, I'm not going to start paying for it.
And if you give me the "well these are OFFICIAL those are fan-made and may contain errors" you need to stop sucking off RoXoR and wake up already. They're cashing in on any and all aspects of the game, and know that people will indeed buy it as long as the words 'IN THE GROOVE' are on it. Because not everyone knows that ITG is based off a completely free game. |
You've said everything i feel, though i'm suprised someone so involved with this website would put it so bluntly |

Yeah, I do believe that even he was being sarcastic.
This WILL be the true fanboy test, now won't it? If you're actually stupid enough to purchase this...

True Story.
Either that or they're way too noobish to even know what the hell Stepmania is. _________________

I have all the simfiles on Stepmania, but I'll probably buy it anyway just because RoXoR could probably use the money, and they deserve it. They did create the simfiles, after all, and it's not very nice to use them without paying for them.
If you have no personal use for it, you can buy copies of it as gifts for others. You probably know at least a dozen people with PCs who might be curious to give it a try, but who lack the knowledge, ambition, or motivation to acquire and use Stepmania. I already talked a number of people who were planning on getting DDR games for their children for Christmas out of it and convinced them to get ITG PS2 instead, and now the majority of people who don't have PS2's will be able to play a home version also. (I personally no longer play home versions of any music games; I have two copies of ITG as collectibles, one still shrinkwrapped, but I only play at the arcade because I don't see the appeal of playing in a non-social situation, but I understand that some people actually like home versions, and this is good for them.)
This will make a great gift for those who don't want to go to the trouble of learning about and downloading simfiles, and who favor simplicity and consistency over the open-endedness and infinite customization and expandability of real Stepmania.
Besides, RoXoR is currently engaged in an important legal battle with serious implications for the freedom of all of us. I've donated money to the ACLU and the EFF, so why not donate to RoXoR? Corporate intellectual property fascism is probably the second most serious threat to free speech in the United States today (coming in somewhat behind the Bush/Patriot Act/etc foolishness), and a small investment now could mean drastic positive changes to the world of the future.
If you think corporate intellectual property fascism isn't a serious threat to freedom, look at the recent Sony DRM fiasco. That's all I'll say about that; case closed. |

All problems solved. Here's a ITG theme for stepmania. Make sure though you download stepmania again and put the theme on the new one entitled Stepmania CVS, this will make things work easier. _________________

Unfortunately for Roxor, I'm simply not going to buy the same game for 2 different media; never have and never will.
I don't know how many people there are who would consider buying ITG but would not consider installing StepMania; that would be my main concern if I were Roxor. I never considered SM hard to use, but I suppose a reasonable percentage of SM users have asked me some questions on how to use its various functions in the past; they're the only significant market for this that I can see.
I'd much rather support Roxor by playing their game in the arcade (which almost seems destined I will never do for one reason or another), or buying a T-shirt, or something that doesn't involve me buying a game which I already have for PS2.
If I had to venture a random guess about this, this PC release isn't trying to kick up something as grand (relatively) as the PS2 release was; rather, it's trying to keep ITG in the somewhat public eye until the ITG2 CS releases roll around.
EDIT: Holy crap I lied. I actually bought StarCraft for N64 because I was young and stupid and wanted both original and expansion in one game. I quickly realized that RTS games suck if they're not on the computer. I somehow managed to trade it in for THIRTY dollars months later. I have NO idea why it had such a high trade value. _________________

I'll be the next in line to agree that this is totally pointless. Why would we pay for something that is bound to have LESS features than the current PC/MAC counterpart, Stepmania. Its good that they are trying to open up to a new and untapped market, but considering the Stepmania realm is very content with the user and official content, this is pointless. Perhaps if we see a very impressive online play and ranking system, this could be saved. Even then, I am doubtful. Concentrate your efforts elsewhere Roxxor! |
