Except for one problem - every time we restart the game we have to completely redefine all of the dance pad key mappings. Stepmania doesn't retain them, and I can't find an option to save its settings. How do I get Stepmania to keep the Ignition mapping as its default? There is an option that tells Stepmania to "Automap", but it doesn't work. We've been manually mapping the pad, but everytime Stepmania starts up, the "Automap" setting is turned back on. So that may (or may not) be why the mapping is getting lost. |
Turn the Automap OFF, then manually map the buttons. Don't turn the Automap back on. That will probably fix it. If the Automap explicitly turns itself back on even after you've turned it off, well, that's weird and I'm not sure what would cause that.

It's so you can have keyboard and pad mapped at the same time so you can switch between them easily, or have alternate keyboard setups mapped at once. |

I think I figured it out. I installed the program as Administrator, but I set up a separate user account for actually playing the game. Apparently, the user account is unable to save its settings. I logged back in as admin and set up the pad, and now it is being retained correctly. Even when we go back to the user account, it retains the settings that I put in under admin. So everything seems OK at the moment. |
