Play asia got restocked with metal pads. I already ordered tx4000 and now it is being shipped. I will give feedback once it reaches my home door.
TheWhack. Most online stores tell the shipping price after you have given your personal information (it checks shipping costs to your country).
Edit: It arived already. It took only 3 days to ship from Germany to Finland. Really fast service from UPS I must say. I am in hurry so I havent got even time to open the package yet. |

There are some issues with the USB for me.
for some reason, it shows up as an Unknown Device on my dads comp(which i use most often)
but on MY comp, it shows as that XBOX DDR thingie, and installed it no prob. I cant use it on my comp cuz SM wont work on it... |

These pads can be also ordered from lik-sang from now on. The price is little bit cheaper than when buying from play asia. Lik-sang offers also much cheaper shipping methods (shipping almolst 20⬠cheaper) which is a big difference. So if you are interested in ordering tx4000 or tx6000, it might be cheaper to get them from lik-sang at this moment.
For USA buyers lik-sang sells tx4000 for only 99$ when play asia asks 129$. Cheap I must say.

I'm not sure about the USA but Lik-Sang seems to be worse than iMarket for me in Canada.
I already bought my pad off iMarket and the shipping came to $70 USD ... but for Lik-Sang the cheapest shipping was $120 USD! |

yes I might actualy be able to get it now that it's at Lik Sang
I picked up 2 posters I have now above my door at the classic gaming expo so that's enough to show my mom that it's a site that won't steal your CC number
plus the 170ish after shipping was a little too much for mom and grandma to spend (It was gonna be a combo gift) but now it should be good
yay! |

I ordered myself TX-4000 yesterday from Lik-Sang. Costs including shipping (UPS, no C.O.D.) were total 128,90e when ordering to Finland. The sad thing is that it seems I'll have to wait for a month for my pad to arrive because Lik-Sang Europe is out of stock right now (next stock arrives 9. Jan. 2006 according to their site). But I'll hope it will be worth waiting.
I'll post some words about the pad after I get my hands (and legs) on it. I can't compare it to other metal pads though, cause I haven't ever even seen one. The area I live in doesn't have any arcade-machine for 400km radius as far as I know and I think there ain't many people here interested in dancing games either. So you might guess I'm quite excited about getting myself this pad. |

Mikuel I know a whole community in Finlanc who play DDR(including me). I was in high which was specialized in IT and almolst half of our class played DDR. But there arent any arcade halls in Finland, and so far there wont be any (we are living in the woods and caves lol). |

i bought (2) tx4k off of ebay; no one else would ship them here it seemed. so far everything has been teriffic; my scores went up immediatly. i've had them for a couple of days now; they seem very sensitive; have not missed one arrow registering unless i screwed up.
my bro was over here playing and he started off stomping super hard and it didn't change a thing about them. i've only played in socks and bare feet so far and i live above someone and they havent said a thing yet. the pads are soundless when you step on them and i haven't had a problem knowing where i am on it. thus far everything is just great and i'm loving them.
my daughter also tends to have heavy stomping feet and for a 6 year old she can tear that game up lol
thanks for everyones posts about the pads; i just love them; no complaints so far cept i had a bit of trouble finding them and buying them in the first place
thanks!! |

|

ok; please tell me if this is normal
the panels are seperating after a few days of use; and yes this is a few days ago it started.... i told people youre stomping too hard; take off your shoes; it didnt matter; as i'm the onnly one that uses it most of the time
they still work great; nothing has changed, but frankly to see things changing when they shouldnt disturbs me
is it normal? should the panels be shifting? they seemed to have settled but we're not heavy players...... um ouch what if i do that then what will happen? |

I just got my Tx-4000, I have no problem with the usb connect, but I have another large problem now:
You have to press down REALLY hard to make the arrows register. This is a big problem for me because it's actually impossible to do hands in ITG and a lot of the time it won't keep down a freeze.
So basically if you plan on getting this pad for ITG, you may want to consider something else because you're guarinteed to brutally hurt yourself doing hands.
I just hope the arrows become less stiff in a couple days so I can play ITG normally again |

I am pretty sure that sheet metal mod would fix your problem. Sheet metal mod adds always sensitiviness (since the metal contacts are much closer). However wach out for alltime contact if you decide to sheet metal mod it.

If a company was smart and wanted to really sell a pad, they'd rename this to something people would want to call it. They don't want to refer to it as some machine name.
Obviously you guys are hearing good comments because the noob who has it doesn't know the difference from a good one and a bad one. Lets hear some downsides like TehWack has told us. |

I just got my TX-4000 too. I'm coming from a softpad and my skill is just average so I'm not sure entirely what to expect. My scores pretty much instantly improved since my softpad was starting to fail.
My concern is that it does seem like I have to hit the pads solidly and hard for them to register. On faster sequences when my weight doesn't fully come down on the pad, sometimes the pad won't register. Is this normal for a metal pad?
The directions that came with the pad are very brief, and there are two variables that might be adjusted that I don't understand:
- There are four metal screws between the metal pads (see thread picture). I tried them both tighter and looser than out of the box (which I'd call medium tight) but didn't notice a big difference.
- (and this may be a noobie thing) The pads have a plastic covering over them that I haven't removed. Should this plastic covering be removed? It looks protective, but there are also some air bubbles in it so I'm not sure.
Thanks for the help. |

The plastic covering is only for protection during shipping. It can be removed, and is easier to remove before much play. Most, if not all metal pads come with this covering. |

Santa brought my shiny tx4000 finally. I tested it and now I will write a short rewiew.
The pad was packed well and came totally unharmed. All the metal pieces where covered by plactick. The plastick was wery hard to remove. I had to unscrew the brackets and remove metal arrows so that I would be able to take the whole plastick away. Well after about 10 min the job was done and the pad was ready to be tested (no plastick was left to the pad).
First impression was following.
The pad requiers more weight to be placed over arrows when compared to softpad. After few minutes I learned the teqnicue and now I can pass songs which I never was able to pass with a soft pad. The sensitivity is good and I am satisfied with it. However when my littlesister tried the pad he got few misses because she is so lignt.
Summary:
-The plastick protecting the pad is hard to remove (to remove it compleatly you need to unscrew the brackets and take arrows out)
-Sensitivity is good enough
-If you are wery light (under 55kg or something) it might be better to get other pad
-I have no problems in registering steps (I weight 70kg)
-I am satisfied with it (no regrets)
-Its the best pad in its price range
Feel free to ask questions
