Hey! For about 2 years ive owned this ebay cypher games clone and playing mostly 9 footers and attempting 10 footers on and off for months at a time. I've just recently got back into this again and will soon be getting a new afterburner E1.gif but have been playing on this pad recently while im waiting for the AB. I'm just now realizing why i keep giving up playing at home, this pad is frustrating! Its gotten to the point where every other day i have to re-solder the wires to the damn sensor! Plus i keep missing steps because the sensor is so small. The pad is pretty much not fun to play, which renders it useless. I've been figuring that now that im getting the Afterburner I wont be using this much anyway, so i might as well try to salvage this pad and mod it into a formidable sidekick for my AB. Now, this is a concept and I want to see what you guys think of my idea before I go ahead and do something stupid. First of all, I recommend all owners of this pad to use This tutorial but i am not pleased with my pad's sensors so...

As you can see, there are two wires going to this sensor, these must be the ground and (forgot name of other one riiight.gif ) so i may be able to remove these wires, remove the sensor, make new arrow panels completely covered with sheet metal and solder the ground or other wire to that, and solder the remaining wire to a piece of sheet metal on the bottom similar to this:

I may even remove that piece of black and white foam(see below picture) in order to give the bottom sheet metal sensor a larger area to occupy

If I am not satisfied using the existing wiring for my own sensors I can make my own wiring, wired throughout the pad by running the wires through these holes i found connecting panel to panel(see picture below) and then drill a little whole to the outside of the pad and wire it to a controller or something

In either case i'm essentially using this pad as a skeleton for the wiring and sensors used in the homemade ddr pad projects on this forum. If I go through with this ill be sure to document it and post a simple tutorial(though most of you can probably figure it out yourselves, its a pretty simple concept). What do u guys think of my concept?

I have done this exact thing to my X-2000's. I also rewired the internals with CAT5 (network) cable because the wiring harness inside the pad sucks and will break. Good mod though. Lainess prevented me from sticking it up here E10.gif

Did you remove the black foam or did you leave it there?

I stripped it all out, added my sheet metal contacts on both sides, and added weather stripping. Careful to leave a little space between the edges of the sheet metal and the arrows. If both sides of the arrow contact hit the metal casingof the pad, it will cause the sensor to short and always be on.
