My friend got me into DDR. He was pretty good and I watched him one day and decided I wanted to be as good as him. So in February 2003 my parents got me a pad and DDRMAX2 and I've been playing ever since. My goal is to be able to clear every song in the game and right now I only have about 15 left. |

Ah...November 2k5, country-wide Dancing Star Euromix tourney. Konami was running a big tourney through a few big cities in France, from which the top players would battle in Paris later on - the winners would be the PR DDR players team for the then-new Dancing Star mix.
Tagged along with a few friends for the fun of it, met most of the Southern France scene at the local tourney, went on playing for the fun of it...End of the story
I was 24, now 26...Those were the days. |

When did you first start playing?
Around August Two years ago
What got you playing?
Well I was watching disney channel with my little cousin and saw on a show when some charcters were playing so it struck me so i had to go to the mall and play XD... Thing is when i actually played at the mall I found out that the characters i saw were doing it wrong... Intstead of looking at the screen they were looking down at the dance mat and trying to follow the colorful arrows and thats what i just did xDD lol That wasnt a good day for me... x_x
What made you keep playing?
When i saw those heavy/maniac players play i was like... whoa... that is freakin awesome!! So basically I was inspired to do better and I did, now i'm in heavy 8 footers ( or more depending on song) and currently teaching myself how to play in reverse or dark ( I hope I can get AAA'S someday ) _________________

I started playing DDR roughly half a year ago. To tell the truth, I had only a passing interest in the game, but I liked a lot of the songs. Some time early this year I went on a trip to Cedar Point with some people I met on the internet and after a while we all wound up in the arcade, and several of the guys decided to partake of some DDR. I didn't because I had no experience and my legs were tired from walking around all day, but it was fun to watch.
Some time after the trip, I found a used PSX at Goodwill for $3 and decided it would hardly be worth it to pass up such an opportunity, so I bought it. The power supply was evidently non-working, but I swapped it out for the power supply from my working PSX and it worked. Then I discovered the console was equipped with a mod chip, so that was a pretty lucky break for me. Armed with a chipped PSX and a stronger interest in DDR, I bought a softpad and borrowed 5th Mix from a friend. Then one day I went bowling and discovered that they had DDR Extreme in the arcade at the bowling alley. I played a round of that and as a result became addicted to DDR in addition to bowling.
I don't play much at home anymore (indeed, not much at all, my cheap softpad simply wore out after a month), but I do visit arcades as often as I can to get my fix. I generally play standard up to 7 or 8 foot, but hope to attain a level of skill at which I can casually play heavy songs. That's what keeps me interested. |

I first started playing many years ago. My friend said it was great and that I had to try it. I didn't really like it at first, but the catchy songs got stuck in my head, so I would play the game to get them out of my head, and before long I was hooked. It eventually got fun, and now I enjoy the challenging songs. _________________

I started playing DDR when a new kid moved to my neighborhood. I had a lemonade stand up and they drove by in their convertable mustang and they stopped for some lemonade. I found out he would be coming to my school and we became friends. He invited me over once and i saw these large pads in the corner and said "what are those for?"
He responded "They are for DDR"
I asked what DDR was and he told me then we played it. I was on Beginner and he was on light and i didnt think much of it until next summer when we were bored with everything else and decided to play it. Then we got addicted to it and i bought a home version and so did my other friend that lived here before my the new kid. Now we have far surpassed the ability of "The new kid" (Carter) in the neighborhood and now we are much better than him and can pass ten footers when he can not pass some nines. |

My mom bought it for me two years ago for my tenth birthday. She got it from someone at work. She rented a PS2 and my friends and I danced until 11. |

I have been playing DDR for a whopping total of 2 days! I got online looking for some exercise DVD's and came across the Dance Dance Revolution. I remember seeing it (or something like it) a long time ago at a mall. I thought it looked way fun. Sooooo I decided to order it and give it a shot. Since I love to dance, I thought this might be a fun way to exercise. It's very challenging for me. I just completed lesson two today. I haven't even gotten to the game yet! LOL But it is still a blast. Besides, the difficult dance combinations, this games requires concentration! I am hoping to lose some weight on this game. I'll keep you guys posted! _________________

I have heard of DDR for a while now, but I never had gotten active until early March of 2005. It was after my birthday and I my exgf had DDR at home and so did one of my mom's friend's kids. I tried it for the first time ever at the latter and I got hooked immediately. I asked my dad to buy it for me as a late B-day gift (this worked out cuz i never get b-day gifts). I got Extreme with a pad for 60 dollars and I lost about 40 pounds in the first two months. I played hours everyday . Since then I have played at arcades (after mastering standard) and collected MAX2 and MAX1. I am gonna get Extreme 2 for my b-day. |

I was sitting in my room, and suddenly, for some odd reason, I started thinking about a game with arrows. I had no idea what it was called, but I started looking on the web for what it was. I think I eventually found this site, plus a few others, and then I went out to buy it. I played pretty much non-stop for a week and love it still today, two (is it three?) years later! _________________

My friend gave me a dare to go up on the machine. Cause I was fat, and like he couldn't imagine me playing on the ddr machine, so like I'm like okay, I'll go play a game so he would shut up. I ended playing and somehow I end up liking, even though it took me like a month to get the hang of it.
So it is all cause of a dare. _________________

First time I played DDR was back on DDR 4th mix. One of my friends invited me over and showed me the game. they had every mix that you could get at the time. we played and I did horribly of course but loved it so much I decided to get it. went to the gamestop and got 4th mix (US for PS) and a 3rd party pad. played for a month till I reached 4/5 foot level then stopped for about 2 years till I was at a friends house and they had just gotten DDR max 2. picked it up again after 1 or 2 songs and spent the rest of the night playing it. but then after I left there house my pasion died again till the next summer when i was at a local amusement park and saw DDR extreme. played it loved the new songs and picked up DDR extreme for PS2 along with a new pad. once again played for about a month then stopped playing till I was talking to a friend about it a month later and got reinvigorated. then checked and saw that DDR extreme 2 was coming out for PS2 in a week, so I went on Ebay ordered 2 new version 4.0 premium pads. practiced till Extreme 2 came out then pciked it up. since then I have pulled at least 7-14 hours a week. although this liast week I have ben practacing alot more (3-7 horus a day) since there is a dance party coming up and they are gonna have DDR.
I guess the reason that I keep playing DDR is that I love the game and it's a heck of a lot more fun then running track or doing other exercises, and it can be fun to impress friends with you "skills" (weak compared to most people on here though) |
