How do you plan on making the scratch work?

I might get a Rave Discman and remove the scratch from that.

I see. I would consider building my own if I knew how to properly construct the scratch. When my friend does the cardboard mod trick to his controller, we might examine it closer to see if we can't figure out how to make the scratch so as to replicate it in a home-made design.

Unless you have real knowledge of how to do this (DASC, Ransai pop'n controllers etc) I suggest you just buy a KOC. Making a controller isn't as easy as it seems, especially not a IIDX one.

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

I've worked with a friend on several projects, such as making our own metal DDR pad. I don't care how difficult the task is going to be, I think I'm up for it.

As far as I can remember, the real controller uses some kind of induction/magnetic type sensor where the bottom of the turn table has holes cut out all around it. When a hole passes inline with the sensor, it detects it moving. Its done in some kind of 2 sensor setup so it can tell which way it is being set up. It is NOT as easy as it looks I guarantee you. Though I actually suggest buying a cheap original controller from ebay and modding it. BUY THIS!

Well the way the turntable reads on a IIDX controller is through an optical encoder. The encoder on the Rave Diskman is a hunk of junk (much like the rest of the controller). Building a turntable is something that I've never tried and I don't plan on making one.
Also, if you're going for 100% official, buying Sanwa buttons is expensive. In fact, the smoke and white buttons made for IIDX are some of the most expensive pushbuttons I've ever seen.

While it probably isn't a good idea to do this, go over to Bemanistyle and check out the threads over there.
