|
|
I'm appearing on the Good Day Atlanta show next week to talk about some research on DDR in kids.
It's only a 3-4 minute segment and actual demo time may be less than a minute. Any tips?
I posted a SE regional thread to look for some young talent, but it's quite possible the host(s) will be game. If that's the case, what should I hit them with? My first inclination is to go with something licensed that anyone would know (like YMCA).
I will probably bring Extreme2, Extreme, MAX2, ITG, PIU, Jungle Book, and Flow. |

Wait, are you going to be demoing, or is someone else, or are the hosts doing it? Really depends on the skill level. For that reason, I would NOT suggest CSFILSM.
But yeah, go for something else. Yeah, do So Fabulous, So Fierce. _________________

Problem: Liscensed music is liscensed for a reason. Konami does this to the songs for PRIVATE PERFORMANCE and not to be played in public. Hit them with a Konami original that isn't too bad. Firefly would be a good choice.

If you're going to use a licensed song, use EX2 or MAX2. They have some of the best stuff to offer.
While ITG is impressive and has really good songs, the only song you can really show off is Torn, since that'll be the only song anyone knows.
But yeah, Ramza says it best, you can't really show off the licensed music on a public stage.
Hit them up with a neat K.O.
Perhaps V (for Extreme). Everyone has heard "Winter", even if they don't remember where or what it was. _________________

I don't see any lawsuits on NBC after Twilight Zone was played. |

Well, at least one of the hosts is game enough to give it a try.
It's only a 3-4 minute segment and most of the time will be spent talking about physical activity in kids. I will spend a little time talking about the various games available and then the last 60-90 sec will be "performance."
I considered bringing one of my study participants (7-11yo) but this gig didn't come until yesterday . . . plus it's on the margins of unethical to use them in such a manner. To the contrary, there's nothing wrong with using a local kid (Atlanta) so I posted in a regional thread looking for a young (<16yo) expert.
I expect the host(s) to be novices but I don't know for sure. I certainly understand the issues that have been raised but the point is to do something that's likely to work with MOST of the viewing audience. I am not endorsing DDR, ITG, PIU, or Flow. These interviews are primarily PR for a healthy lifestyles campaign called Get Kids In Action.
I think I'm going with EX2 since it's the most recent version.
Candidates:
Get Busy - obvious reasons
Wonderful Nite - good pace, OK steps (suggestible lyrics though for AM - but they probably won't notice)
My My My
Spin Spin Sugar
Play that Funky Music
Captain Jack Grandale Remix
Sana Mollete Ne Ente
La Copa de la Vida
Paranoia
I (Heavy/Standard) will either dance a Versus with the host (Beginner/Light) or an Atlanta kid (Heavy) will dance with the host. There's outside chance that we will have a kid dance throughout the segment and then the host and I will hop on at the end.
I appreciate the advice. |
