I am just now going back to DDR again after a long break but only because i realized i have been playing too much stepmania. Of course the only reason i even play DDR on arcade is because i am too lazy to drive a couple hours to the nearest ITG machine |

â«Every day, we're one step closer to heeeeaven. Is this the way, that loooove is meant to be be?â« Oops, sorry, saw the subject and immediately got ITG's Drifting Away stuck in my head. Anyway, I would say I'm sorta losing interest in DDR. I still play it, but I've played ITG and PIU far more in the past few months than DDR. DDREX is really getting stale for me, and I've lost interest in console versions because I don't have enough money for a CF. XD |

Good topic to make.
But no, DDR hasn't jaded my interest to it since I began playing. Thankfully, the "nationwide staleness" of DDR EXTREME grew as I became more busy with other things, so I didn't really get a chance to experience boredom from the arcade DDR.
So, unlike almost everyone else, DDR EXTREME is still something I love to play, since I only get more busy, and have less opportunity to play it.
Thankfully, around the time I've recently decided to try and make time for DDR, ITG came along. I guess things have been coming around at the right time for me. =) |

Actually yes. Mainly due to the fact that I work part time and am a full time student and a science major so most of my time is spent studying. Alot of DDR people have gone to ITG, I've played it a couple times but it's just not cup of soup.
Hopefully with this winter break I will get more of a chance to play and get back into DDR. I am also tempted to buy Extreme 2 vs. 1 because I heard it got a little better and it seems more intresting. |

I still enjoy arcade DDR, as well as the home mixes. I also play a bit of ITG now and then.
I really would also like to get more into Pump It Up, but I'm not really good with reading by spacing alone, and there isn't any sort of beat differential coloring in that game. (Using 2x or 3x only works for slower songs, and then it's a bit too fast for the faster songs.)
But for the present time, my DDR/rhythm game priorities are...
1. Home DDR
2. Arcade DDR
3. ITG
4. PIU |

Definately not! I LOVE DDR!! I like it more and more everytime I play it. YES, it's true: DDR EXTREME is OLD. but who cares? I learned off of a 7th MIX, so, all i have to do is go backwards. Now, my escape to EXTREME is 5th MIX. It is like heaven when I play. It is a whole new mix for me. (cuz i play it so seldom) omg, and 4th MIX PLUS?!? amazing! it is wonderful! DDR continues to keep me entertained and prolly will until I am old and retarded, and I have a heart attack while playing DDR oha super kids station.
HOWEVER!!! What I AM getting tired of is stupid noobs who are completely incapable of playing DDR without speed mods. I am also tired of hearing the same 10 songs over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over, like A, R3, Abyss, Kind Lady, A, CANDY(HEART),R3 on standard, BREAK DOWN!, A, and even 10 steps are being abused now! even all of that wouldn't be so bad, but they always think they are superb players cuz they can full combo something. grr... does anybody honestly like a bad DDRer who is full of themselves? ugh, c'mon.
anyway, ITG is nothing compared to DDR, unless you count "NEW".
Yarni <3 DDR!!!! (yeah, that's right... FOUR exclamation points!) |

I can't play well without speed mods (as in, AA stuff); does that make me a zomg n00b?

Except for all those technical advantages, among other things. I digress; this isn't the latest installment of ITG v DDR yet. _________________

what technical advantages? if you are reffering to more mods, thats just sad. ITG makes dance games look like a joke. There is no need for that many mods. and yes, if you actually CAN'T play a normal unmodded game of DDR, then you are a noob and arent very good at it. just practice without the speed mods for awhile. no biggie. |

I still think DDR is for the newer kids then we all go to ITG and master all of THOSE songs. But DDR is much better for freestyling (imo) and the songs get me moving more. I actually feel like I'm dancing when I'm playing DDR, but ITG made me feel industrial and lifeless.
In short, DDR = tricks. ITG = techniqual playing/gateway drug. _________________

Actually, DDR is just cooler to freestyle to, but ITG actually is better to freestyle to, do to the use of mines and having to hit arrows with your hands. DDR just has better music and normal steps. It was the original. Can't go wrong there. |

Way to jump on something completely wrong. Technical advantages such as the ability to render 1/12 (and derivatives) properly, rendered models as opposed to sprites, different (and better, as far as I'm concerned) syncing, etc. I addressed your childish anti-mod nonsense in another thread. _________________

But you're forced to freestyle in ITG, so it doesn't really feel like a freestyling. It's just playing. |
