My arcade just got 2 (yes you didnât miss read it 2) new ITG2 machines. and just a couple nights after setting them up, they both started to malfunction. The first thing is the when you press the arrow buttons to scroll though the list of songs. You press the arrow button just once and the song list starts spinning out of control. the second thing is the arrows stopped responding, and when they do respond the timing seems to be off. everyone was getting greats when they should be getting fantastics.
Well me a couple other people assisted the guy who was working at the arcade, playing around with the setting etc, until finally we found that resetting both machines fixed the problem. Well today i went to the arcade and was playing ITG2 and was doing just fine no problems everything responsive, till these two girls got on when I was done and played around. they were playing on the beginner level and were stomping the hell out of the pads like a lot of n00bs do when they are just playing around and never played the game before.. afterwards i got on to play and it was doing the exact same things. the music scrolling going nuts, and the pad not responding.
Now I know that the arrows are a lot more sensitive than DDR, witch is what we had for years till we just got ITG last week, cause of the fact that you use your hands. this bring me to my question. my theory now is that the machines stop working right when people stomp on it unnecessarily hard. am i correct in this theory is do you guys believe it to be another problem based on your experiences.
any help would be appreciate as I would like to figure out the problem so I can talk to the manager of the arcade about it, before these new machines get broken from people stomping on them. _________________

Well I honestly dont know much about arcade machines, but id guess that a normal "healthy" machine would easily be able to handle girls pounding on the pads. But it is kinda wierd that it happens on both machines. But Im not really sure cause ive only played itg2 once _________________

Yeah, about the great thing.
ITG2 has a totally different timing window, in my opinion. For example, the day before we got ITG2 (we had ITG1), I ***ed Flying High. The next day, when they got ITG2, I broke a 96 on it. However, I slowly got used to it.
I donno about the arrow thing. _________________

yeah but when the machine starts screwing up. everyone who tries to play afterwards gets that. We played all nite and everyone was getting fantastics. then all of a sudden when it screwed up and the arrows didnt even work when they did half a$$ work eveyone was getting greats when we knew they should have gotten fantastics, cause they were getting them before it messed up. and once we reset the machines eveyone gets fantastics again. I think somehow the hard stomping on the arrows throws them off. and I still havent made the connection as to how the the song selection screen goes nuts. unless the arrows have something to do with that too. or mabye they got a couple machines from a bad batch if thats even possible >.< _________________

Well so far i was able to find out that they are not dedicated cabinets, they are actually a bit diffenrent from the normal IRG machines. the bar is shaped like the ddr bar, and the arrows look different. and there is just the two arrow buttons and the green button. no second red button under the green button.
someone said those are crap and need restarting all the time >.< _________________

It's a real shame about the crapocabs. I haven't seen the ITG2 incarnation of them, but I got to see one back in January or February when Namco was sending them out with the PS2 version DDR Extreme US inside. I was hoping that after they recalled them from the arcades, they'd melted them all down, but I guess not. Namco is stupid. Sure, they're probably cheaper than dedicabs, but they'll never even pay for themselves because they won't live that long.
I can't imagine why they'd send two crapocabs to your arcade instead of one dedicab. The Boxors in those things are real, and Boxors are currently $3000 each. Assuming that the manufacturer of the crapocabs prices the cabinet itself at just $1000, that's still $4000 for the unit, or $8000 for two -- almost enough to buy a new dedicab at retail price, and Namco probably gets bulk discounts...
The thing that bothered me most about it is that this will be the first exposure many people have to ITG (most DDR people don't visit internet sites and many haven't heard of ITG, PIU, or other non-DDR music games), and they'll wind up thinking it's an inferior, shoddy product because of these piece-of-junk cabinets.
At least some Namco arcades are getting dedicabs, and some of the ones that got crapocabs have gotten them replaced with real machines already. Be patient, complain to Namco, etc. Hopefully your arcade will be taken care of soon. _________________

The namco Arcade is so ghetto in my mall but I am lucky we have CnC near us and I could play ITG2 where i have been playing it for some time and i could still be rid of the evil known as cyberstation.... I hate that arcade and thought Itg was fun... until one of m friends played Birdie expert and every step they made to the song was a miss... It was the worst crap ever and that machine had the timing so off... but people kept putting their coins in and playing it nonstop and everyone was trying it more and more to try and hope for a fantastic... I personally thought this was crap as it gets noobs to think that this is a really really hard game and they have to try harder and well and put more coins in... and when namco finds that there are more coins going in... do you really think there would be an attempt to fix it.... i dont think so... but on the bright side... ITG is becoming more mainstream with it being exposed to more arcades _________________

I didn't feel like reading through all of this, but I had to ask whether or not you guys got stuck with the crappy buttocks wood pads and the retarded Namco rigged cabs? That's the BS we're dealing with right now, and I have to say, I'm extremely pissed that they would give us this crap, especially since there are other Namco arcades in various states that have received dedicated cabinets. _________________

As he stated... the machine we got in OKC is shit, but I doubt that its from people stomping like crap on it because when I play on my toes I get "minimal" way off's, decents, misses, etc., yet when I play flat footed the misses are abundant. The whole left side of the pad doesn't respond well, yet when I played on Medium and beat the crap out of It i got a full ex combo... so I just think its that the machine is screwed. The screen is also distorted . I hate you Namco. _________________
