dont buy em. the wireless one will be lagmania (meaning it will lag) and they second one is one sheet all flat so you cant tell where your feet are. also its made from crappy acrylic plastic which will crack. _________________

I hear the feet thing isn't bad - keeps it from having extra corners on the pad when you step. But they're also trying to hide the cost with 70 dollar shipping. Don't trust. _________________

Wireless is NOT the way to go for a music game. All music games require a certain aspect of timing, and wireless will give more of a delay than anything else. |

No. If you're looking for metal, get a RedOctane or Cobalt Flux. You get what you pay for, and those pads on Ebay are crap. _________________

If you're dead-set on wireless, though, could you not adjust the game timing to account for the lag? _________________

Theoretically, yes, but since the signal is traveling through air (a crappy medium), it may not be at a constant rate. This can be seen in old wireless routers. Your signal can fluctuate randomly. Since you'll be close, it won't be as noticeable, but it's almost impossible sync it as well as a wire. |

Air is "a crappy medium" for IR waves to travel through?
You don't know what you're talking about.
Infrared travels through the air at the speed of light, the same speed that your wired controller sends its signal through its cord.
You cannot compare a wireless router to a wireless dance pad. A router has to handle much much more information than a video game controller, which only has to send ten different signals saying, "this button is being pressed".
You ever used Nintendo's Wavebird? That uses radio waves, with absolutely no delay, ever.
Aside from all that, don't get this pad, it looks like a ripoff.
I laughed at the item description, where it says the pad retails for like $600, but he's selling it for sixty.
So ridiculous. |

Whoever just wrote that wireless creates lag please go find yourself the most pathetically basic physics book and learn that both RF and radio waves travel at the speed of light. Air is a pretty good medium for that kinda stuff. The only thing that would create lag with this kinda thing is if you dance your steps, have a friend morse code them to another friend who manually inputs them into the PS2, then you would have lag. Everything has some amount of lag, unless you have a quantum dance mat (you don't btw). Its poopy hardware/screwed up PS2 that creates lag. |
