I got my TX-4000 today! I was so suprised when the guy from UPS knocked at my door this morning. I live in Sweden and only ordered this a few days ago, really fast delivery from play-asia, great work! I have only tested it during the day and i'm thinking if I should write a longer review in this forum thread. I guess many of u got questions about this pad, just ask them here and i will try to answer them. If i have some time i will post some pictures!

But to say something about it then... IT ROCKS! I absolutely love this pad! First of all it feels really solid... no chance you can break these arrows since they are made of metal! And most importantly (and something i was worried about) the response from the arrows are excellent!!! There is no problems playing on this pad without shoes. Just tap the arrows slightly and they will register immediately! I didnt miss any arrow in a single song because the button wouldnt register, i only missed because of bad timing or when i sometimes missed the button E1.gif This is such a big difference from playing with my old soft mat. Songs that were impossible for me to even get a C at I can now easily get an A or B on. I have tried the pad with both my X-box using Dancing Stage Unleashed and on my PC with Stepmania. Installation was flawless (no drivers needed) and it worked great on both platforms! I also think it was no problems knowing where you are on the pad. Because when you press down the arrows they aren't completely stiff, they bend inwards/downwards a little. It gives u a nice "springy" feeling when u press down the buttons and also lets you feel if you are missing the button. I don't know how a real DDR acade machine feels (because i've never tried one) but I really like the feeling! I can also add that me and my friend that tried the TX-4000 today played with and without shoes. It works great in both cases, theres no problems playing without shoes on this pad. The buttons are responsive enough, and i actually prefer playing without shoes, my friend liked playing with shoes, so I guess it's a matter of taste. Well to summarize it, this is a great pad mainly because:

* Won't break! Arrows are made of metal and we have been dancing with shoes on it, no problems no broken arrows!

* Buttons are really responsive, not once today did an arrow fail to register (as far as we could see).

* It looks great! Like a big mirror on the floor. Just don't forget to polish... often E1.gif

* It works pefectly with X-box and PC (I don't own a PS2 but i guess it works great on that one too) from the start without needing to buy any extra controlbox!

* The price (atleast for us in europe) is really low compared to the CF pad or Afterburner. I paid only 170 $ or 140 euros. That is with the shipping of 30$ something!

So I can really recommend this pad! Please note that I have only used it for one day so far but it's looking like this is one of the best pads out there right now if you consider the price!

PS. I also saw today that you can now buy the TX1501 dance pad at play-asia.com! If you go to mayflash.com (the company behind the TX pads) you can read that the TX1501 is the updated version of TX1000. It now has acrylic plastic arrows that aren't supposed to break (if you read the description at play-asia). It costs about 10$ less than the TX4000, so I would still buy the TX4000. But atleast it's an option, not sure if the arrows really are "uncrackable" though. On the TX-4000 im pretty sure they are anyway biggrin.gif DS.

Questions about the TX-4000? Just ask!

Thank you wery wery wery much for your review! I really apriciate it. Nice to hear you had a good experience with it. You are already the third having good experience with this and yet no one has had got bad experiences so far. This pad is looking more and more tempting to me XD. Maybe I should buy it. Your review was so perfect that I can't make any good questions... lol

TX4000 and TX6000 uses control box wich works in ps2, pc and x-box. It means you wont need any adapter to pc, right?

Sounds like the TX1000 and TX2000 are now just a history (when better and almolst as cheap pads replace them). Finally the world is getting to better place to live in lol.

I can't really say because I haven't tried any other pad. I could guess that the Cobalt Flux pad is even better quality but then it's also alot more expensive. And from what i've read the arrows on the Red Octane Afterburner can crack, so still this pad seems to be of better quality (so far)! But since I haven't tried other pads myself (and I will never be able to get an Afterburner since i live in Europe) it's hard so compare to other metal pads. But my first impression is that this pad is of great quality. It don't feel cheap at all, and the build quality feels great.

Always glad to help E1.gif I wish someone had written a review about this pad before I ordered it but I took a chance E1.gif

And yes, the control box that ships with the pad works with both X-box Ps2 and PC. From the control box there are two cables one with a PS2 connection and one with an X-box connection. On the X-box cable you can remove the X-box connection and instead put an USB connection there instead. When I then plugged it into the computer it found a device called "Xbox DDR". After that I just launched stepmania, mapped the buttons and played!

If you are going to order this pad and live in Europe. Use play-asia.com their webpage impressed me alot. For example you can track the order all the way which is nice.

Your reviews great and all, but what about later... months later. What if the dreaded wiring problem comes and ruins you arrow's signals?

Seems that a pad works fine for awhile, then starts running into a whole lotta problems. Keep us updated.

Well lets see what will happen. Though I am not gonna wait for half year checking if anyone will get bad wiring/soildering problems (I have waited my metal pad already too long). If the soildering is bad, it can be always resoldered or duct taped. So far everything looks perfect E10.gif

Weights about 38lbs (over 17kg). In europe no one talks abought pounds. I get always mixed up when things are sayed in pounds tongue.gif.

Add:
TX4000. How where you able to order the pad from playasia? I can only pre order the tx4000. This is what was written "Not yet published or released: In stock on Dec 13, 2005". But since you bought it before, it should be bublished already. Maybe they just sold them out frown.gif.
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-2a-15-tx4000-70-u20.html

Anyways. I pre ordered the TX 4000 already and now I am waiting for it wery exitedly.

Hmmm I see that they have added this text now yes... It has been released (as you can see if you go to www.mayflash.com and look) so I guess they are currently sold out... frown.gif The TX1501 also seems to be in stock at dec 13 so I guess you all have to wait a little longer, not so long until dec 13 though...

Damn one of my neighbours that live under me is getting on my nervs... he just knocked on my door and asked if i was the one "bouncing" E1.gif lol

I guess I can't use my new dance pad at 23:30 anymore hehe

hey how thick is your tx4000? do u play on carpet? does it move like a CF would? did you try sheet metal modding it yet?my ITG Soft pad broke today and im assuming all soft pads suck except the konami ones that have the non bunching top AND non slip bottom (ITG pad doesnt have non bunching top and bunches up when playing on a hard surface. when mine bunched up the sensor sheet ripped >_<) and i want a good pad that isnt going to break in less than 45 days.

EDIT: instead of duct taping the sheet metal on would spray on adhesive work? and anyone know what sheet metal to use?

I think that all types of metal will work in the modding as long as it can conduct electricity (I haven't modded myself so I am not sure). So pick a metal that can conduct electricity.

Ok, I'm seriously considering buying 2 TX-4000's before Christmas, but I have a couple questions:

Is there a doubles deal anywhere?
Do the pads link up easily?
Can I fully rely on the USB connector to work, or has there been cases where it doesn't work?

That's all, my only real concern is the compatibility with PC. I don't have an XBOX or PS2 so the PC adapter must work. I already have a TX1000 that works fine on my PC with a PS to USB adapter I bought from my local electronics store.

1) Yes, on ebay i think there are some, look around
2) Yes, There is a kind of ''switch'' you link on a screw, and it's supposed to be O.K
3) Supposed to, no one said it didn'T work, but i'm not sure about it, i'll let someone else answer to this.

The pad is 3 cm thick, if u dont use cm's convert E1.gif
Yes I play on a carpet, and it doesn't move a bit (not that I've noticed), it got somekind of rubberish antislip stuff underneath and it weights alot so it stays in place.
I haven't sheet metal modded it. And I won't do it either. If you do that to increase the sensitivity I believe that it is not needed. It's very sensitivity now I think.

If you have 2 pads you can link them up easily. There is like a piece of metal on the front which you can attach to the front screw on the 2nd pad.
Yes you can rely on the USB. I have an X-box but I almost only play on the PC using stepmania. Works like a charm. When I plugged it in it found a device called "XBOX DDR". After that you only need to config stepmania and start playing!

its about the MMB pad but the contact foil is the same as yours

Another question:

Is there any site that sells TX-4000s that are Canada friendly? I'm thinking maybe that imarket site, but it doesn't tell me how much the shipping would cost.
