For all you people out there that think that DTX songs suck, you need some sense. I know of several in O2Jam, and I've been lucky to be able to work with some of them...(I've made a couple charts E4.gif ). Also, take a look at the name of the game...it kinda says what music genres it covers. Like it, or don't play it. It's that simple. No need to flame the authors that worked hard to make GOOD music. And so I'm done.

The optical sensors look awesome.

I really would not mind a different panel layout, though.

And the game's developers are not giving me the best first impression by being jerks in this thread. thumb.gif Good job, guys.

Also, with the optical sensors, do you step on them or is it possible to just move your foot over it?

You're basically breaking a plane that's just above the solid material. Sure, you could activate it without actually touching your feet to anything, but that would be a lot of work, since the clearance they mentioned is not very big.

Actually, DDR did that with "The Legend of Max". I originally did it with Futurescope.EXE and told you it was like LoM remember? XD

I think this looks really interesting, guys. I can't wait to try it out.

I just hope that a very high level of difficulty will exist on this game (like ITG has up to 13, so far), because the easy stuff is really pointless and boring for some of us who've been playing for a long time. That's my largest complaint with Konami. They don't seem to give a damn about people who can destroy everything they're able to throw at us.

And, despite what others have said in this thread, I look forward to playing through that songlist, I like most of the music presented thus far. Good luck, and if you can convieniently place a test machine in Nashville, TN, I will play until my feet bleed. E4.gif

Hmm, I'm still a bit doubtful of the optical pad. The height of the panels (looks like about one cm from the pics) seems like it would make movement difficult. Your shoes could easily catch on those edges. Also, I like to play flatfooted, and it doesn't look like that would be possible on those, even if you bevel the edges of the panels.

I can see one obvious possibility for reducing the height. You could recess the optical sensors into the base and put groves along the bottom for the beams to go through (not so deep that you couldn't break the beams). The cross section could look something like this.

-----\___/--------\___/-------

Of course, this would mean that part of the beam (the part that goes though the groove) could not be broken. I don't know what the theshold for triggering the sensors is, st that might make this idea useless.

Couldn't be much worse than DDR; I catch my feet on brackets all the time.

Hey, don't judge us all by the actions of the few, heh.

Plus it's not like we haven't had people be jerks to us, and we ARE only human after all. Just because we're game developers doesn't mean we're automatically infused with super-morality powers or anything.

OK. I have a few questions and dont get mad at me if there already in this thread.

1 When is it coming out for arcade
2 When and/or is it coming out for home version
3 How difficult will the songs be ( ITG style with ridiculous hard songs or DDR kinda easy style)
4 I want to see screen shots and pictures of the pad

thanx! nerd.gif

1. Promo launch, January or February; Official launch, slated in April if all goes well.
2. Still not decided
3. Both. With over 120 tracks... we have a wide range of styles and difficulties.
4. I would LOVE to show off screenshots, but they aren't complete yet, and I don't want you guys to see an incomplete product. As far as pictures of the pads go, they aren't complete, but I believe the frame-work-up is, so I'll see what I can do.

Btw, the recess on the pads are gonna be minimal... those pictures you guys saw of the dance pads are NO WHERE NEAR the way they will look for the arcade... the ones for the arcade will be somewhat similar to what you guys are accustomed to... but have some subtle differences and new technology and not so thick in height. The pictures you guys have been seeing are just a home brewed versions utilizing the technology we are going to offer.

Anyways, I'm working on the update for the site all day... so expect something in the next couple of days...

I think you have it the wrong way.

Just because some people can do them and they are really fast... doesn't mean that they are well designed.

From the Official DTX forum in Bemanistyle.com wrote:
Finals are almost over for most of the staff, and due to Beatdrop's leaving for military service, we went ahead and pushed the update to today. Now a few things I went to claify with you guys.

Beatdrop's "Everlast" Album:

The public version of the album is up right now... 78 minutes of pure sweetness. Please take a listen and drop Beatdrop a line in his official Everlast/Farewell thread here at Bemanistyle. Only Disc 1 is up for the public. You will be able to purchase Disc 1 and Disc 2 on CDBABY.com in the coming month thanks to PulseNetwork Music's parent record label Planet XOX Records. In that purchase, you will be able to not only get the tracks you've downloaded, but also other exclusive tracks such as his remix to "Certified Insane", a track that is in DanceTrax; also, the super awesome FULL VERSION of Beatdrop's signature track: Phase 1. We will also have a special for the first month or so when the album is on CDBABY.com... you will be able to purchase the album WITH "DanceTrax Club Compilation Vol. 1". The compilation will include hot club tracks from DTX as well as from other popular artists and, yes, SAIFAM! The DTX Club Compilation, in my eyes, will be the first step in creating a "Dancemania" for the US. Also, iPod users, don't worry, all this stuff will be going on iTunes as well.

Beatdrop's interview:

Since Beatdrop is going away, I felt it was most appropriate to get him interviewed. The person we had lined up to conduct the interview is a big fan of Beatdrop's, and an In The Groove staff member, PlagueFox. However, due to powers beyond ours (his wife and some social event he was dragged off to), at the last minute, he couldn't do it. So I conducted the interview. The interview touches on some tracks from Everlast as well as tracks from DTX.

Tracklist:

I figured there was really no point in not showing off SOME of the final tracklist with you guys. So I went on ahead and released more track names from the list. Now, I know a big complaint will be "I've never heard any of this stuff", so in the next update we will release more samples for you guys to drool over. Another thing, and this was noticed by my boss over at Paper 2 Production INC, a lot of the community is complaining about the lack of "popular" tracks. As much as I would LOVE to give out the names of the licensed tracks we are currently still working on getting, I don't want to release track names and at the last minute say "oops, nevermind, we can't get it" due to many different reasons, mainly if record labels are trying to rip us off with their prices because they think we are stupid or something. However, I did get the green light to devulge the names in January... so get ready to hear a slew of popular artist and track names as a late Christmas present, but for now, wait patiently. But since there were many rumors and such, I did want to take this updated to come straight out with it... DM Ashura's "Z" is in DTX and is considered to be one of our "flagship" tracks. And yes, UM3's "I Am Gothic (2003 Remix)" is in our game too (it was part of the tracklist before I heard UM3 was going to have it; to not piss off UM, I waited till their game was released before I made that public, also we went with it's original name "I Am Gothic 2003").

Artists:

Yes yes, we have new artists. Freda, which is best known to this community for her short cameo with NFM, is now an OFFICIAL PULSENETWORK IN-HOUSE ARTIST!!! Honestly, her original stuff is AMAZING and just what we needed in DTX; you guys WILL NOT be disappointed when you hear the samples from her in the next update. Also HIRO, who had a brief stunt with Konami in "Heaven's is a '57" gimmix remix and also with Neon FM, is an associated artist who will be lending 2-3 tracks to this game. Although it's not "SUPER" final... Rah Records has shown great interest in appearing in DTX. Rah Records is responsible for rap stars such as the "hyphy" man himself, KEAK DA SNEAK as well as Frank Sticks and R&B sensation Caraya Rose; just wanted to show the rest of the U.S. how the bay area does it!

Staff Members:

From the site launch, we gathered up some new talent in terms of graphics and steps:
-b00geyman
-Rage*
-Titiln
-BlueRevolution
-MelloFellow13
-Toph
And one of our gameplay advisors (basically a judge), Tiffany Mongiello (BabyBluez), has been promoted to Spokesperson. So instead of hearing or seeing my crippled a** speaking at launches and stuff, you'll be able to look at and listen to the Roxy-sponsored snowboarding ITG tournament playing hottie happy.gif. Fair trade-off, I believe. Since the machine testing is coming up soon, I've gathered so far two of the best dance-game players out there and their groovestats prove it (and I just happened to already know them):
-Jetty (who is currently number 2 on groovestats)
-Stewie (who is currently number 4 on groovestats)
And although he is now incognito, former DTX staff member, JSB, will lend his opinion too on the new optical pads. With testers such as these, the accuracy of the optical pads will surely be put to the test.

Images:

I know, I know, "where the hell are the freaking screenshots of the game?!?!" "Why don't you guys have an image of the finished cabinet?!?!", "YOU GUYS SUPER-SUCK!!!". Let me explain first: I so DESPERATELY wanted the next update to include screenshots of the game and new cabinet pictures but....
- the interface isn't near 90% complete... I mean, right now its around um... 75% complete. Looking at it now you can get the idea of how it's going to look and feel, but I really don't want to show something THAT preliminary. Since the site launch there have been a slew of ideas oozing from our heads and from the heads of the community... so needless to say, there have been some changes. Rest assure, Deluxe and dieKatze88 are working pretty hard on the interface and as soon as I FEEL its where its presentable, then we'll show you guys... which I'm hoping will be ready before the next update (which will be in a week or 2).
- I DO have new cabinet pictures; however, due to a english/chinese language barrier or something, cabinet artwork were placed in the wrong part of the cabinet (looks hella funny but ugly). So until the wrongs are righted, I will not release new cabinet images.

So... any questions?
