I had BNS DX-Xtreme pads for years until they finally wore out. They were great, though. I recently purchased some new ones without doing research -- big mistake! As others have pointed out, they're different, and all around not as good. I could go on and on with the tiny little changes, but there's no need. My question is, does anyone still sell thick foam pads like the older model DX-Xtremes? It sounds like Red Octane's pads recently took a turn for the worse as well, so I just don't know where to look.

Wish those old pads still worked ...

They still have three-pieces interlocking hard foam inserts, but there are a lot of little things different about the pad now. The black control box thing now sticks out of the front of the pad instead of sitting inside it a little, but the foam insert still has a notch where it used to go. This causes a small gap in the "foam support" in the front of the pad. The black box also no longer lights up when you hit an arrow -- there are no lights in the thing at all.

The major thing that frustrates me is that either the pad is a little bigger (my suspicion) or the foam is smaller, as they don't fit together as well as they used to. The top surface of the pad is a little bunched up, and the foam doesn't support the whole pad front to back, meaning either the Select and Start buttons or the tip of the down arrow is unsupported by the foam. Which side is affected shifts during gameplay because of the new looseness, and I'm tired of my down arrow suddenly crapping out on me as a result.

Those are the major differences; there are a few minor ones that aren't as important. Basically, I'm just not as happy with the newer model, as I paid more for pads that don't work as well. I'm up for suggestions.
