|

I was experimenting with Stream, Quick, Skippy, Wide, and Stomp mods with Easy and Medium ITG songs this afternoon (PS2 home version). I didn't bother to try Hard or Expert though.
Stream makes sense in almost all cases--it inserts eighth note (blue arrows) in between red arrows, and often results in crossovers or double stepping. I thought this was a great modifier for practicing crossovers and double stepping for songs that otherwise don't have that many of those patterns in the song.
Quick didn't always make sense. Sometimes the steps appeared to have a red (quarter) and yellow (sixteenth) arrow that seemed like it needed to be done with the same foot before the blue (eighth) note arrow instead of alternating feet. The pattern didn't seem like it allowed enough time to "hop" to the other foot before doing the quick pattern. (Is this by design, or does quick add step directions without checking for sensibility of the steps?)
Skippy, of course, added sixteenths in a gallop fashion, different than Quick. Great for practicing gallops, although the galloping tends to get a bit too repetitive.
Echo was interesting--it seemed to add eighth note (blue) arrows almost constantly after the quarter note (red) arrow. However, this seemed to flow almost as well as Stream did in most cases, and is a great way of practicing double steps with the same foot, as well as three or more consecutive steps with one foot when the other foot has the freeze arrow
Wide seemed to add a jump at the beginning of each measure. It started to annoy me as the patterns often started with jump-step.
Stomp seemed to turn practically every step into a jump. Lots of UD and RL jumps in cases where there were a lot of eighth notes. Good for a really slow song I guess, but extremely annoying for anything faster than 130 bpm.
Of those modifiers I was experimenting with, I think I like Stream and Echo the best for adding steps to Easy and Medium ITG songs below 150bpm. |

I find echo to be one of the most enjoyable mods in the game, as long as it's used with a good song/difficulty. One fun song to use it on is Monolith on Hard...holy crap does it become a doggy. It's just a relentless barrage of eight note streams and jumps and little sixteenth bursts all over the place at 195 bpm. Using both Skippy and Ech has shown some good results too. They make Pick Me Up and Tango one of my favorite songs. Using both of them on Hip Hop Jam turns it into like a fucking 12. They also make Disconnected Hyper a lot more relentless, especially with all the mines...it's just like eww. |

He means expert, since most of the song becomes an entire STREAM of 16th notes. |

Hey guys. Robotix Echo is pretty fun.
Next time you're at the arcade, play Robotix Easy with Echo and Stomp on. It's really fun. |

There's a way to make it (I'm 85% sure) that if you put stream and echo on Robotix Medium, at the speedup it goes:
right-----right----right---right--right-rightrightrightrightrightrightrightrightrightrightrightrightrigrigrigrigrigrigrigrigrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrigrigrigrigrigrigrigrigrigrightrightrightright--right----right------------right-----------------right--------air
If someone would like to experiment with it, please post your results on here. Thanks. _________________
