Could someone please help me.

I have purchased DDR 5th Mix and I would like to patch it so that I will be able to use it on my PS2. Currently, the protection on the CD prevents me from doing anything. I have a flip top, breaker pro, and swap magic. I would avoid purchasing anything else.

I have tried a patch that was available on megagames.com but it was unsucessful. If there is any resource available that is able to help me, I would like to know. I also have this problem with Extra Mix

Hi,

First off, I did read the first post and several pages of this thread. However, I'm somewhat of a newb when it comes to this, so bear with me. E1.gif

I have a slimline (v12) ps2 and would like to play Extreme JP. According to the first post:

Quote:
The Flip Top Cover
There has been replacement cover made for the PS2. All you need is the swap magic disc and the cover. You put the game in and replace it with a PS2 import, original, or backups and just play.

I found one here. Before I think about buying anything, I would like to make sure of the following:

-Will this allow me to play Ex JP?
-Will I still be able to just pop in regular ps2 (US) games and play them? (yes, I'm aware of how stupid that question is, but I'm just making sure)
-Will this interfere with Ex2 online play?
-Will installing it void my ps2's warranty?
-If it's so easy to use and install, why would anyone buy a modchip instead?

Also, how does the process work? Do you boot up the ps2 with the swap disk and then switch it with the import game?

Sorry for all the questions, but I want to be thorough to ensure that I don't screw something up. E4.gif Thanks for any help.

Yes.

I don't see why it would.

It voided my warranty only cause I have a larger model PS2 (50001); the sticker was hosed when I had to rip the top off. I don't how it works with the PSTwos.

Yeah pretty much. A menu pops up and tells ya to put the disc in.

Thanks!
I'm guessing that it will void the warranty, since I noticed a sticker on the back of my ps2. But that's not much of a concern.

I'm looking to purchase a copy of DDR 4th mix, amd I don't have a Japanese Playstation or modchip but obviously I'm willing to invest in one or the other. So while searching around online, I noticed there being different versions of systems and modchips; for example I found a Japanese Playstation 'SCPH-1000', and a 'SCPH-5500'. I don't know how that stuff works..I was wondering if the model numbers/upgrades make a difference with DDR 4th mix and what systems DDR 4th mix would be compatible with.. any info anyone could give is greatly appreciated

And I'm sorry if this was already posted somewhere.. I flipped through a bunch of pages browsing subjects, and I was reading through the import faqs and other threads trying to figure things out, but I didnt find a direct answer..

Any Japanese playstation would play DDR 4th Mix. It doesn't matter what version it is.

I installed my fliptop yesterday but I can't get it to work, it just makes an unholy noise like a dying wolverine. It won't boot any games or Swap Magic. Help me please T_T

This is why you either read the instructions or use a non-mod solution like HDLoader.

Slidecard is bad:

The first post wrote:
Worst Way to Play Imports

Slidecard - Not only is it easily made from following a simple tutorial on www.ps2ownz.com so you dont have to pay an outrageous cost. It also effectivle over works the PS2 drive motor and the laser killing your PS2.

Are there any slimline PS2 owners here who have tried the fliptop mod? I ask this because I'm wondering about how you install it (I haven't ordered the fliptop, so I don't have instructions or anything). I was looking at the bottom of my PS2 yesterday, and I don't see any screws. Do I have to peel off the rubber feet to get to them? Is putting on the fliptop simple, or will I have to tear apart my PS2 to do it? CorruptZero's post makes me a little nervous. erm.gif

Hang on. The slimline PS2's already have fliptops, right? I believe for the new units, you need to use some other methods to hold down the switches that detect the lid opening. There may have been some other posts about exactly what to get earlier in the thread, but if you have a slim PS2, I think a fliptop isn't what you need.

The fliptop I'm looking at it is for the slim PS2. It's a lid with a smaller circular lid inside it: http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/customer/product.php?productid=2123&cat=&page=1

After reading a few pages of this thread, I found this: http://www.swapnslide.com/magicswitch.html It looks like an even better way to play import games than the fliptop - no disassembly required, doesn't void your warranty, and it's only 5 bucks. If I use this with the Swap Magic 3.6 disk(s), I will be able to play import games on my PSTwo, correct?

That's more of what I was thinking you'd want for the slimline. I haven't used any of these techniques myself (got a JPS2) but my understanding is that what you just linked to with Swap Magic should do what you're looking for.

1. Does a American fliptopped PS2 recognize burned copies of Japanese games with Gameshark/Action Replay/whatever?

2. How much do original imported DDR copies sell for these days, as in, the PSX mixes? How much do working copies of the originals sell for?

I was wondering if there was any way so I play Japanese PS1 games on my American PS2. I have a swap magic 3.3 and a slidecard.

No reliable way unless you have a modchip.
