|
|
I was having problems with my metal Afterburner pad that was still under warranty, so I shipped it back to Red Octane about 3 weeks ago for repair/replacement. Well today a pad shows up on my doorstep. Not a metal afterburner pad but an Ignition 3.0!
Now I know from experience that RO doesn't have the greatest customer support and a lot of people here have had problems with them. What I'm trying to figure out though is what the hell were they thinking? Did they send me an Ignition on accident or are they trying to give me the shaft. I honestly don't see how they can screw up something simple as sending me the right pad.
I emailed them about it but I'm sure I won't get an answer until Monday. |

That is so funny! That really sucks! Knowing RO they will be like "Nope, you can't trade a Igniton for a Afterburner, you suck." Without the "you suck" part. I still can't stop laughing. That really blows. _________________

They're famous for their lack of quality in both.
It took me 3 weeks to get them to respond to multiple emails about exchanging my Ignition. As for the original poster, I can't think of anything to do except email them and explain the situation. They should have it logged somewhere what they received/shipped out, so they should be able to verify that there was a mistake. I'd be going crazy if that happened. |

The sad thing is, I'm actually expecting a response back from RO similar to that. Who knows, maybe they'll include the "You suck" in there somewhere but you never know.
Now watch. They'll tell me I'll have to return the Ignition before they'll ship my Afterburner back to me, adding AT LEAST another couple weeks on to this whole ordeal that's already lasted a month and a half. Then, once they receive it, they'll say "we don't have any record of receiving your return" and I'll end up getting nothing.
Jesus, I wish I bought a Cobalt Flux. The extra $100 isn't worth the hassle I'm getting from RO over this miserable pad. |

Geez, I'm sorry to hear that. That really blows monkey chunks.
But at least that's cemented my decision. If I'm going to buy a nice DDR pad, it will be a CF. I was considering going cheap with the afterburner, but this seals it. |

You've made a wise choice. I really, really wanted to like the Afterburner but I've had so many problems with it: easily cracked arrows, disconnection issues, steps not registering, PC compatibility, poor customer support with the most cryptic email responses I've ever received from anyone, etc., etc. The Afterburner has a great feel to it and I actually prefer it to the arcade, but it's too poorly made to make it worth buying.
If RO could find a way to fix these problems, I'd give them another chance but at this point, I'm fed-up. |

Afterburner has problem? why so many people are returning their metal pads. 4 weeks for exchange? That is kind of late! |

I really don't think they care. Just look at all the angry responses already left by others in the Afterburner thread. If all those complaints didn't cause RO to improve their business by now, I don't think one more complaint from you will change anything either. |

You know, that's *exactlly* what I plan on doing once my replacement gets here. The Afterburner is going straight to Ebay and I'm using the money I get from that to buy a BNS. All the testimonials I've read of it make it sound like a great, sturdy pad. And the pic of it in your sig looks cool too.
BTW, I called RO yesterday. I told them the situation and they are making me do *another* PRA. The guy apologized but said they've got 750 orders over the thanksgiving weekend to fill. Hmmm...but they received my pad 2 weeks before then, so that excuse really doesn't work for me.
I have a feeling this thread is going to get more interesting over the next couple weeks. I'll keep you guys posted. |
