Had my 3.0 for 24 hours before the left arrow defect started kicking in. Back to circuit city it goes...

Decided to buy a cheap Innex foam pad off Ebay for a quarter of the price. Hopefully it lasts a little longer biggrin.gif

Wow, same here.
I had mine for about 2 weeks an the left arrow defected on my pad as will. For some odd reason it gets stuck in, and I really don't know why.
I take it apart and put it bad together, but moments later it does it again!!

Worst of all, I order mine online from here: http://redoctane.com/ignitionpadv3.html

Damn me, if I want to return it for full cash, I have to pay shipping. Seriously, this pad is awful...

Damn this sucks.
I can't refund my red v3.0

I just got the e-mail 2 days ago (it was rather late) saying that my refund was rejected but they can exchange it for a new one? Wow, I seriously don't want another defected mat, I just want my money back.

What a waste of $100 disgust.gif

Oh well, I guess ill do the plywood trick as well.

I had plywood under mine since the day I got it. It lasted 2 months before up and down started misfiring like mad. It was actually day 54 of my 60 day warrantee that I emailed them about it, but I ended up sending 2 - both were ignored (great customer service). Finally, on the third email, 2 weeks after the warrantee was up, they responded saying they'd exchange it. blink.gif So... it got picked up today. At least they admitted it was their fault.

I don't intend on using that pad when I get a new one. Rather, it'll be the second player and doubles pad, because I'll ruin it just as fast if I use it. Usually the second player doesn't play near as hard of songs and wont be as rough on it. As for myself, I ordered a Flux yesterday and plan to use it as my main pad.

When it comes right down to it, it seems like flux is the only way to go.

Seriously, I've never heard anything bad about it, and when I do the problem is usually solved so quickly.

I have had bad luck with my RO Pro in that it seems to randomly fire off up and down or fails to respond going up or down.
I take the pads out and "fluff" it and reassemble and then its sometimes better for a few hours.

Here's the kicker, I took it to a friends house who is handy with a needle (we were going to split the seam and examine the innards) and, before putting my RO under the knife, we tested it on his PS2 (I use it with XBox) and it failed to fail!

I took it home and its doing the same thing. I'd say it was my XBox, but I have one of those chinese steel pads and it works fine (just hurts my stupid flat feet after an hour)

Are these RO pads crap? I had heard they were good. I returned two RO pads to BestBuy before I got this one, and this one survived past the return period...dammit.
Or could this be my XBox somehow? (I don't have PS2)

Well children, I completely gutted an Ignition. And I've figured out the stuck arrow problem. The sensors are made up of plastic sheets that have wiring run through them via conducting black strips. It's sort of like the inside of a keyboard--That plastic sheet the key thingies rest on. So, I've illustrated the problem below.

After one press, it returns to the first image.

Zanshin, that seems logical, and I'd suspected that myself. But i know these RO pads were supposed to be extra-durable even so.

Can the foam be replaced, or the pads adjusted or whatever?
This thing cost about $100.....and it was SO comfortable to use compared to my hard pad.

So I think I pinpointed the problem with the Ignition 3.0. I spliced open my pad to see what's up, and found this:

Keep in mind this was after avout 3 weeks of gameplay on heavy. The foam they use to seperate the censors is extremely thin, and complety not designed for heavy players. Notice the ripping and tearing? There's your ghost stepping and misfires.

I think I have found a solution. If you have an old soft mat lying around, this could work for you.

I had an old Madcatz lying around, so I decided to try and make this beast work. I took out the seperating foam from the old pad, and placed it on top of the foam in my Ignition. Tried to align the holes as best as I could, duct tape everything up, and voila. Lo and behold, the Ignition actually works. Something I never thought I'd see...

You didn't remove the Ignition Pad's separation layer? You ADDED the Mad Catz guts?
Also, where did you put the duct tape? Can you post pictures?

I kept both layers of foam seperation for extra durability. Unfortunately I didn't take pictures throughout the process, but I put together a ghetto terrific diagram.

After I put that together I sealed all around the edges of the pad with duct tape. Oh, I also (carefully!) stapled the two layers of foam together in a few places where it helped align the holes.

psisar and Zanshin, YOU GUYS ARE HARDCORE.

Go work for Red Octane damn.

Kinda on topic, I requested a Return form for 2 of my retarded 3.0's, and they only send me one Acception.

Also, just ONE DAY LATER, (zomg) I got the return label.

Quick respone liek mad.

You guys think I should send both pads back or just one?

Easy, fellow. Everyone was a n00b once. As am I, for the nonce, at this particular pastime.
