My legs are a little too short to effectively bar hug on an entire song.
However, on a few catas that require stamina (something I don't have yet), I'll bar hug on part of it. Either that or I'll use it for balance on some crossovers or spins to make sure I don't do a faceplant into the machine or the floor.
And, usually on the songs I know I can do without bar, I end up doing worse when bar hugging. |

I think it'll have more to do with how hard you step. A no-bar player stepping lightly is going to do less damage to the pads than a bar player slamming their foot down with every step...and I see a lot of bar players do that. Since using the bar conserves energy, the player will have more leftover energy to apply extra force to the panels. |

For those who use it for better PA competitively or expert ITG players, that's fine. But if you really need a bar for anything lower than a 10 or really hard 9 footer, that's pretty sad...I just dont see how it's possible to make it any easier on steps that slow.
And about it doing less damage to the pads, I dont really thinks that's an issue...it's not hard to avoid stomping |

I'm pretty sure everything on ITG that has been passed with the bar has been passed without it, with the exception of the songs almost no one has played yet, like VerTex^2.
It certainly does come in handy for 12s and 13s, though. | This is all true, but I don't think it's completely impossible to get a good percentage on a 12 or 13 song without the bar. Yes, it's extremely hard, so I think it's good to get used to the song with the bar until you have the guts to go without it.
Also, the bar is great for countless tricks in freestyling. |

True it is like training wheels
but what i use it for
is for doing fun stuff as in...
when i'm doing R3 during in the half way
i go around the back of the machine
and jump over it
oh well i have nothing else to do
when i have done all the songs
on the highest difficultes
and have AAA's 31 songs
got nothing to do _________________

I think Bar Raping is okies as long as you don't start off Bar Raping. If you start off a song with Bar Rape then you are a really huge n00b.
I sweat to god, I saw some 13 year old Bar Rape Broken My Heart. I wanted to laugh, yet at the same time I wanted to cry. _________________

I'm just wondering, why do people get mad when someone "bar rapes", maybe they like to use the bar. Why the hell would you get mad if u see someone use the bar? |

Have you seen some of the videos of people playing with no bar? it looks way more retarded then ones playing with bar, in my opinion. |

its probably because they want to use the bar but people told them when they first started that it was a bad thing to use
i know thats what happened with me. luckily i just ignored people after a while and started using the bar. its so dumb when people get worked up over people using the bar when its made available for everybody! |

untill last week... or the week before i never played with the bar on anything 9 or lower, but i thought, "if all the itg players are doing it now, why shouldn't i?"... so i used it... come to find out i now can play on X3 solo and AA almost anything i play now.. even Accross the nightmare heavy X1.5. I don't need it but i use it now on eveything even Butterfly heavy X3.. and i got 9 greats a new record for me at least.
god.... i love that bar now _________________

I make bar-raping look really good =)
Bar-raping is good for PA, along with 3X mod(applies for 95-158 BPM) and solo.
In a tournament, the best PA wins. Bar use or not doesn't matter. Both has its weakness, depending on how you play. _________________

I don't know why, but my PA is really shitty when I use the bar. I'll get like two or three times as many Greats as if I didn't use it. That's the sole reason I don't use the bar. A lot of people tell me how their PA gets a lot better when bar-raping...I guess I'm just weird. |

^no no no, you're not weird. It's different for everyone. Some people like you do better without the bar. That's perfectly fine. I just developed a skill with the bar, that's all. _________________
