My names Dana. I am a newbie to DDR. I was introduced to ddr about a year ago by one of my friends, I decided to get really serious about it recently and so I have decided to buy my own game and pads, so any advise on what pads to buy or what games are best would be more than appeciated.

I would suggest getting either DDR extreme or Max. Those are the best mixes in my opinion. for pad, you can find some soft or metal pads at redoctane.com. You might want 2 go for the hard pad rather than the soft cause they break really easily in a short period of time.

I'm SafeTinspector, a 33 year-old tech services VP for a tiny networking firm in the Detroit area.
I got my sloppy-buttocks addicted to DDR in July around the time my wife got laid off from her job. I've been trying to use it to lose weight, but that doesn't seem to be happening...my legs have gotten hard as rocks, though. Yet I'm still 220lbs.

I've only got the two XBox Ultramix games at the moment, and I'm mediocre at best. I play between an 1 and 1.5 hours a day, and am happy to say I've gotten to the point where I can pass most 8 step songs and have double-A'd a few 7 step songs.

I joined this forum to learn more about the DDR franchise and also to make more informed purchasing decisions (my sad, dead Red Octane pad is a lesson I don't want to learn again)

I have blogs
http://safetinspector.blogspot.com in which I primarily explore various forms of homour writing.
http://safetunes.blogspot.com where I post my boring piano compositions,
http://safetscenes.blogspot.com where I post my Second City comedy scenes (1st draft level)
http://samwhited.blogspot.com where I post pictures of my daughter, Samantha.

Alright then.

My name, Ilse.
Age, 14.
Location, near Richmond in the Short Pump area.
Difficulty, Standard & sometimes Heavy & Challenging - depends on the song.. i.e. I will play Heaven on Heavy or I'll play Kind Lady (interlude) on Challenging.

Hey Everyone!

My name's Amm... well, it's my middle name anyway, and it's what I go by. It's pronounced just like "am."

Anyways, I started seriously playing DDR [for improvement] over the summer, but I didn't own the game until later. Currently I own Max and Extreme 2 <3 happy.gif

So anyway, obviously when I had the game and could practice at will, I got a lot better.

Right now, I'm making the transition between 8 and 9 footers, and I just recently started getting some AAs on Max... none yet on Extreme, unfortunately... well, I mean, I have a couple AA*s on Standard, but... nyah.. lol.

I'm also working on FCing songs, which is actually really hard for me... I think I try too hard sometimes.

Anyway I guess I'll wrap this up before I babble on even more.

Oh yeah! I'm also play Stepmania xD

Hey guys, my names James, and I've just joined the site. A pleasure to be here, and i look forward to contributing to convo's.

A little about me, I'm a 20yr old Canadian boy, living in Saskatoon right now. I first started playing DDr not more than a month and a half ago, at the Center Mall waiting for a movie to start, and fell in love with it. The guy who was running the arcade decided to show us up on heavy, and that made me determined to go back there and get some revenge. Unfortunately thats a long way from now. I've just started doing songs on standard, and am still having trouble with the 8th beat steps. In due time though.

Thanks for reading, and cya on the forums sometime!

**Thanks to P-Chan for informing me of the thread. My apologies for not posting it here originally.**

Word up james. Welcome to ddrfreak. I am sort of reintroducing myself back to these parts of the forums since its been a long time now. My name is Elias. I played ddr for about 3 years then quit mainly because I didnt like the way the song lists were going. Now that Extreme 2 and PIU are out though, I am looking to break back into bemani seeing as how they didnt rape the games with innapropriate liscenced songs. I've been lurking around the random chat and non-music games and consoles forums, but I think i am going to start checking out this neck of the woods again now that I have reason to get back into bemani. Peace out.

Probably Extreme 2 or Extreme JP, but for the JP one you need a JP console.

DDRMAX is a good one if you play Heavy. There are a lot of challenging songs.

Hey. My name is Babs, F, 16. I just joined this forum. I found out about DDR a while ago, but I didn't get it until now. I only got the crappiest pad ever though, but w/e. I didn't want to get anything really expencive just yet. I think I have a lousy game too, idk, but it doesn't have a lot of songs. I have a question. For some reason, after I edited all my options, level, etc, for some reason I can't start actually playing by pressing start on the pad (it takes me to some menu or other. I actualyl have to press start on the ps2 hand held controller) anyone know why? Also, one more question. well, more like a comment/question. When i start to play and step on the arrows, it always boos me. Now, iv'e played DDR before, and I wasn't taht horrible. but it won't even show hte other comments while i'm stepping, like you know, almost, ok, good, excellent, perfect. it just does Boo. and i KNOW it's not me. I tried putting the pad on a big piece of wood, that doesn't help. It's one of those cheap pads taht umm begins with a K. Flimsy, but I did way better on it on my friends pad (same one) but this one...id ont know why it's not working properly. And i knwo the arrows work befcause they work when I scroll thru the songs. And I'm def not that bad that I always get booed. help!
