want to build my own metal pad but i want it to be as close to an arcade pad as possible. i want to know what konami used for switches in the pads and how they made the buttons bounce back after being pressed. ddr homepad's website just used weather stripping to make it bounce back but that would wear away pretty fast. i have seen other tutorials but they are all pretty much the same. i also dont like the way that most people just made 2 pieces of sheet metal come in contact as the button and would like to know any other better way there would be to do that if i cant do it that way konami did. any help would be greatly appreciated |

I also purchased one of these (8 blueshark foot sensors).
I purchased 8 foot sensors becasue thought that I can use 8 foot sensors like the picture.
This is the DDR Solo Arcade Machine style!.
This is the picture of Konami DDR Solo Arcade Machine!
if you want to make the metal pad that is close to konami ddr arcade machine, then you need to use the arcade foot sensor.
Places that you can buy this ddr arcade foot sensor are
1. http://www.inthegroove.biz/sales.htm $35.00 Since it is the most expensive sensor, it must be very good. No Picture - I do not know the quality yet.
Quote: | In The Groove Switch Sensors: Original equipment for all dance machines. These are NOT inexpensive poorly made copies! Foot Pad Sensors $35.00 each. |
2. http://www.betson.com ? Betson's Arcade Foot sensor is the lowest ($24.99), but I think they do not offer anymore.
3. http://www.chanelbeat.com Channelbeat is selling PIU Foot Sensor for $17.95 (this is used one) , but it is in HongKong! Shipping must be expensive
4. http://www.mymybox.com/ddracc20.html mymybox sells BLUESHARK METAL PAD FOOT SENSOR for $29.99. They had special offer, Not anymore. Now they sell 8 foot sensors for $239.94 Super Expensive to buy!
I am still waiting for the 8 foot arcade sensors that I ordered for $49.99 |

I do not have the solution right now! I am trying to find out the best solution to make this sensor to work on my metal pad. I am studying the konami solo metal pad right now and will visit arcade shop again tomorrow to see the inside of konami arcade machine.
One thing for sure. you need to have at least 10mm thick panel. I found out that both Pump it up arcade machine and konami ddr arcade machine have 10mm thick panel.
I tried with my 3mm panel, but it did not work at all. If I can not figure it out, then I have to wait until my friend receive the blueshark metal pad.
I will let you know if I figuer it out how to make it perfectly. one thing for sure. If you use thick panel like 10mm as arcade machine it will work perfectly on pressing the button. To bounce back up the panel, you need to use rubbers on the each side. |

kyj do you work for mymybox?
All of your posts are just trying to sell their products, and on their forums you responded to a post of mine saying that "We will make sure the bars are correct dimensions" |

I ordered 8 sensors and my friend ordered one blueshark metal pad. When he gets the blueshark metal pad, I will check and make sure whether it is the same thickness (1.5") hanndle bar as arcade machine or not. |

NO, what makes you think I work for MMB (duh)?
I have not got a chance to test this sensor on arcade machine yet. I have received many messages regarding how to build a metal pad with arcade sensor. Frankly, I do not know how to build, but I can tell you What I know!
Do you need my help? I can tell you where to go and what to read!

you can look at This article by Ho-Man http://www.indyddr.com/features/stage.htm or this topic on a the global ddr board http://pub131.ezboard.com/fddrjamzglobalbbsfrm1.showMessage?topicID=2524.topic
Quote: | WARNING: WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT BEND THE SENSORS. Be very careful while taking them out or putting them back in. They have mercury running through them, and if you bend it too hard, it can create a permanent kink and the sensor can get stuck on and stay on permanently. Original Konami sensors are $80 (yes that's eighty dollars) a piece, so handle them with extreme care. |
Buying a Machine
Quote: | This topic was covered in one of the other guides on the site, Choosing a DDR Machine guide by AnimeNathan. Since the question is asked so often on the forums, here?s some answers.
Q: Where can I get a DDR machine for myself?
A: www.channelbeat.com if you want to take a chance on losing a lot of money.
www.coinopexpress.com usually stocked, but shipping charges are pretty high, Dance Beat Arcade recommends them.
www.ebay.com occasionally has them, Do a search for Dance Dance Revolution.
Check your yellow pages under Amusements. There's usually arcade vendors there, you might be able to score a cheap machine there.
Tilt arcades have a game sale around Christmas time (NO THEY'RE NOT GOING OUT OF BUSINESS), and DDR machines go up. You, on a huge long shot, might find one for a reasonable price.
Betson Imperial is Konami's official american arcade distributor, they have pretty much have everything from parts to full machines. |
if you spend little more time on researching and reading on ddrfreak and other forums, you will become an expert like other people. |
