Have you even played any of my newer charts? Not the ones I do for humor. |
if i remember right, your more recent ones are pad playable. Not the older ones that were timed to cacophonic music lol. |

Thanks for answering me about the pads.
Oh, and to quote myself about Arch0wl's inclusion in this game...

Looks like only two responces are necessiary:
1: You begin to block the light at 3/16ths of an inch. It will trigger somewhere between 1/16th and zero distance. I don't know about you guys, but it's clear that with most of the players I know, their feet (when they play flatfooted) do lift up a bit. Or rather the amount they depress would be sufficent.
2: I haven't seen it screw up yet on jackhammer steps. |

It's a digital sensor - it's either on or off. I mean, it's not like it's using next-generation military-grade dancing technology.
The single advantage a dedicated ITG2 machine has over any given DDR machine is that the DDR machine has seen a lot of mileage, whereas the ITG2 is nearly brand new. Give ITG2 a little while and that machine will start to need weekly maintenance too, I'm sure, and then it'll be just as much of a white elephant as DDR is to those arcade operators who don't want to deal with it. _________________

Well, I've never played on a brand new DDR pad, and never will since they don't exist anymore, but the pads on a dedicab are barely recessed at all, making them much easier to play on, and much less prone to stomping. All of the players who used to stomp like crazy while playing DDR barely make a sound on the Dedicab. I wouldn't be surprised if the pads/sensors on a dedicab last a pretty long time compared to your average DDR machine. |

You assume they'll let anybody do anything. A water dispenser would be nice, though.

I figured I would post a link to a few pics of the latest optical pad.
http://www.stepmaniaonline.com/pics/opticalmat/
It has been tweaked slightly since then, but looks the same. This is NOT what it will look like for DTX, this is simply a home built (wooden) optical mat. |

Wow, guys i take back that comment earlyer, this looks very coo! =D Good luck, btw that pad is cool.
I have just one Thing to ask...
Besides the cosmetic and specs and stuff ( as in the looks and sound ) what makes this stand out and differnt from other Dance games? |

The game looks sweet - people from "the community" behind it, carefully chosen licenses, interesting and potentially revolutionary new hardware.....and my only question was where the funding to build and distribute cabinets came from.....but that was partially answered by the thread.
So now I have more questions:
Are there plans yet regarding background animation? Bright/dark, complex/generic? What I'd personally love to see is some sort of dynamic lightsynth that responds to the charts and performance.
What kinds of stepcharts should we expect to see - in terms of, their, experimental nature, I guess? ITG has done some pretty outrageous things with difficult rhythms and unusual doubles charts so far, and I'm wondering if similar boundary-pushing is going to be seen in DTX. Cheating hands would probably be easier than ever on those pads, if those are going in. Or maybe it could be like pump and you have to cheat to combo it.
When will led-optic controller designs become cheap enough to take over the world? Seriously, the cost of home play is a big factor in how widespread dance gaming is. If the sensor circuitry were easy to mass-produce, there would be companies that could probably make a cheap pad with plastic-mold or some combination of that with wood/metal/rubber in large quantity the same way keyboards and mice are made for pennies today. With most of the reliability and feel issues resolved we would probably see more focus on new designs and aesthetics. |

We have plans for many background animations, some of the songs with complete videos. We won't discuss this much though.
We also won't be talking too much about stepcharts here. We don't plan to out ITG ITG though.
Understand that pads are a lot larger than keyboards and mice. The will cost a lot to make and get to the US. |

This still makes me laugh inside.
To be honest, though, I'm really looking forward to this game as well. I can't really say I already hate it, because I haven't tried it, yet. (With ITG, I thought it was the worst until I actually TRIED it, at which time I became horribly addicted.)
Some innovative ideas are being thrown around, and I'd love to see them in action. Of course there are going to be issues with some of the ideas, but that's why the game hasn't been released, yet. For all of you who say "EET WON'T WURK", well it's not like they're going to sit there and release the game if it's not working. I'd assume they're not going to release it until it DOES work.
I had more to say, remind me to post it later if I remember. _________________

The music is different, but if it were the same as DDR/ITG it would fail correct?
ITG followed DDR in its dying period and came in with a bang at just the right moment... but ITG is pulling strong already so trying to follow it with similar music would flop.
They're going very mainstream with things like toxic and a thousand miles... but its better than 5th mix oops i did it again.
I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out, If they put in the time and dedication... more dancing games is only a good thing. _________________

ME too, i really think this will be good. and the only thing i dident like about ITG is that they added the fast steps to all the songs, even though they dont go with them other than that its a good game. But i am loyal to DDR ( and hopefully this ) |
