disgust.gif Lucky.

If I want to go to the arcade to play, I must have a logical reason for playing DDR at that moment and can only play one game, IF my reason gets approved... and that just ticks me off because I have too many songs I love, and not enough stages to choose all of them. Plus, I'm going off to college this summer, so I'm praying my parents won't restrict me as much as time goes on... frust.gif

My parents don't mind it. They like the fact that its exercise. My dad laughs his buttocks off whenever he sees my little brother playing it because my little bro gets this really serious face on and gets really into it.

Both of them laughed their asses off first time they saw us playing it. Now I think I just kinda shock them. riiight.gif

I only play at the arcade, so my parents don't even know I play DDR, and probably have no idea what it even is! Which is a good thing.

I have all of the PS2 versions of DDR, and I play them whenever I feel like it. Anyway, my parents actually bought me some of the games and mats for playing! My parents completly support it. Yeah. Well. There ya go.

hahahaha well my parents are very accepting of DDR. My mom like's it cause it's excercising and my Dad has found some of the better aspects and when we first got it(he bought an Xbox, Ultramix 2, and a Ignition Pad) he ranted about how it helps rhythm and coordination. He made a serious sacrifice getting an Xbox because my brother sneaks in games all the time(were only allowed DDR on the console)

my parents are pretty cool with it. i've already proved to them that it's an excellent way to work out, cardio-wise. especially now that the weather is getting colder i prefer to stay indoors and get my heart pumping while enjoying a good dancing game. the only real thing they don't like is having to spend a lot of money on just this dancing game. that's why i'm trying to be very careful about which metal pad i would like to get. i've had bad experiences with soft/foam pads and i always had to return them to the store. i'm trying to look for a good metal pad that is durable, but at the same time won't break the bank. that's the only thing my parents are concerned about.

Well my parents were the ones that saw "some dance thing" in the store and they asked my brother and i if i wanted it and i said no. Then sometime later i went to my friend's house and he had UM2 so i played on beginner and i liked it so i told my dad and sometime later he got it for me (extreme ps2) So my parents and my friend is why im typing this right now.

Then at the end of the third school marking period i got good grades (all 90s and above as usual) so my dad bought me a redoctane ignition!

Mom plays every once in a while when she comes with me to the arcade, thus, she likes DDR and has no problem with it E1.gif

I love my life so much for having read these stories. All me and my friends do is spend every night playing games, going to arcades... man I remember being a little teenager... that sucked riiight.gif

A piece of advice, you can be a little more secretive than you think. Learn how to get around your PCs restrictions, get a secondhand games console and play everything while your parents are out. Either that or ask them what they aim to achieve by limiting you like this.

But as it goes, you are a kid, theres not much you can do apart from stick it out and spend alot of time at your friends houses =)

I was on a USA machine in Vegas over the summer and a mom came up to me and asked if she could play too. I said yes. I didn't know there wern't two different difficulty levels with USA, so I put it on heavy and expected it to ask me for the other players choice. IT DIDN'T. The poor woman (She seemed fairly young) couldn't keep up with me! laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

My brother started playing recently. He's getting really good. He's progressing through the levels faster than I did at his age.

My parents think its good excersise but dont really care. My mom never understood video games so she barely knows anything about it and my dad is just too busy to care (most of the time) I seriously could AAA LoM and he all he would say is "yeah thats great" Otherwise, my parents are all for it

I haven't seen this on the Chit-Chat section, and I have interesting stories to tell. And yes, this is asking questions to members who are young and/or live with their parents.

My parents HATE DDR. They can't stand it. I think the main reason they hate it is because I obsess over it often. I print out new stepcharts, find DDR CDs, or go to places like DDRFreak.com to hang out and talk about DDR.

Now mind you, I have been restricted a lot in my childhood. My parents don't believe in game systems; if I have the computer, then that's enough. And downloading Stepmania and getting a soft pad hooked up to the computer is out of the question. My parents have these parental controls on my screename that tell them about every place I go, including what I download. So if they even SEE the word "DOWNLOAD" I get grounded for a month... and I am NOT kidding when I say that...

All I want to know is how other people's parents react and what they think of DDR. I think my parent's reactions are a bit extreme, but I'm not old enough yet to move out on my own. I'm interested in hearing some of your responses. ^^

How old are you? My parents don't care at all.
