Everybody hates DDR!!!!!!

My solution to this has always been to make fun of myself for playing DDR. I mean, come on. The fact that DDR players look ridiculous while playing is a valid reason to make fun of it. I realize how ridiculous I look when I play, and when other people know that, they usually won't make fun because there's no point.

how can you all be so negative in some cases. i am completely open about being a gamer. hell i am even well known for being one and why should i care if someone makes fun of me. most of the time it is someone saying that ddr is "gay" and all i have to say to them is "well at least i have amounted to something." i have been doin the game scene sence age 3 and all i have to say is be as apearently diffrent as possable and eventualy people figure out that your are diffrent without being higher or lower then them.

for example when a friend says ddr is "gay" or stupid all i do is say "well, i play heavy, you have a problem with that?"

so let others do what they do and if you enjoy ddr then play ddr because it is something you like doing. life goes on so drop whoever they may be if they dont appreciate what you like doing. if they refuse to be ur friends or ridicule you regularly they are NOT friends. you shouldnt care how long they may have been a friend but if they cannot respect your choices then let them live their lives. friends always respect the choices of others unless it truely harms someone.

Alright, I know exactly where you're coming from.
I've had several times where my closest friends would be like "why the hell do you play that retarted game?"
The easiest response is just "Because I enjoy it and just because you're my friend doesn't mean I need f*ckin acceptance from you with everything I do. If you think it makes me look retarted, go ahead and think that."
This was of course after being asked many times, but yeah... It'll create a bit on tension, but in the end he'll either decide he doesn't want to be seen with a DDR player, which would be his loss, or he'll get over himself and accept that he doesn't have control over what you do.

I say you should get them to play it, all of my friends thought it was "retarded" but then i got them to play and now they all love it and dont make fun of me

I'm a 25 year old administrative assistant who weighs 255 pounds (lost 15 playig DDR, sweet!). I started playing DDR in June a have lost weight and feel really proud that I tear it up for an hour a day on endless mode and really enjoy it. I am the only person I know that plays DDR and the only person whos even seen it. But don't care what they think because my buttocks and legs and even my abs are toned and I have a really great sense of rythym. DDR helps me wind down after a long day of traffic and work and gas prices and all the responsibilities that comes with being a tax paying citizen. I really wish more adults and kids and teens would play together I think that only good would come from it. Like everyone one has said before me, all of your friends that keep dogging you are just jealous that you've put time into something constructive and challenging and theyre too lazy to even try. frick em' find friends that will push you to be your best at what you love.

Back home, the reason people hate it is because I do it, and anything I like is immediately deemed "un-cool".

At college, the table tennis players hate it because a few of the players don't use as much underarm deodorant as they should.
