$5 less but no guaranteed warranty? No thanks, but I'm not spending $295 + shipping without SOME backup... and if someone was considering buying a CF, the difference between $295 and $300 is so great. |

For anyone that might need it, I've posted a guide on how to clean a Cobalt Flux over on the CF forums.

damn i just got this thing, its hard to get used to even though ive played at home alot before on a RO metal pad.
This thing moves alot when i play and i seem to be getting NG's for no reason. On top of that, the 2 corner arrows r pointed in the same direction. I thought the upper left was supposed to point upperleft, but its pointed to the right. Its no big deal or anything, just that maybe they weren't so careful in making it. _________________

I would love to see a picture if it's possible.

Yay, that makes me happy. I just ordered mine last night, and I'm counting on a lifetime pad after $200 of crap. Not the worst I've seen on the site. Anyway...yay! |

If you haven't done so already, you may need to de-bow your panels so they have better responsiveness.

yeah well its not that big a deal or anything i was just mentioning it
and that will help thanx

For the wood base, just use particleboard, its only like 6 bucks. Heres a link to my base mod.
http://www.cobaltflux.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5042
Also, u need to loosen every screw, but not too much, just enough to let off the pressure. Also make sure u have the controller settings set to dance pad, that may mess u up too.

And yes. the pad does move around alot, I've been meaning to make a mod for that I'll let u know when I do it. I was thinking of that stuff that u use under computer chairs or something. |

Does the time of day that you order it have any effect on the time of shipping? I ordered mine 10:00 Thursday night, and it will soon be 10:00 Tuesday night. It is still being built; does anyone know whether or not it will likely ship by tonight?
(btw, I'm aware that it says USUALLY 3 to 5 days; I'm just curious.) |

I'm fairly certain that they only have one shipment out per day. It seems to make the most sence to only have to make one trip oer day, instead of making a trip for every pad.
I think they may update the status of the pad too when it is awaiting shipment (it may say something like "awaiting shipment" or "charging account" [CF does charge after the pad is built, don't they?]).
And mine took around a week to be built, even thoguh the man page claimed 3-5 days. With these pads, it is tough to know exactly when you'll get them, but the patience (and money) required is probably well worth it. |

Hey you guys, i'm looking into getting some metal pads for our school's DDR activity. Since the pads won't be mine, i'm trying to do the least, if any modding to the pad that I get because I have no experience with modding. I was wondering how an unmodded CF works in terms of responsiveness, durability, etc. Any help would be great. Thanks. _________________

Cobalt Fluxess are very good unmodded, as they use sheet metal by default (which is what most the the mod guides say to use). Only three mods come to my mind: put a piece of wood under the CFs to keep it level and prevent base cracking (generally not necessary, unless used on an area with a thick rug/carpet), add a handle bar to a base (if the club believes in handles of course), and CF also sells arcade kits, so that the center and corner button are raised; which I know many people like since it allows the player to know where on the pad they are without looking down.
CFs are known for great durabiliy, and have a claimed weight max of 600 pounds. This thread I believe gives an idea of how long these pads can last; and I am fairly sure there is also some indicator on how long they can last on the CF forums.
The CF site has many videos of the pad in action, including a "stress test." |

Thanks for the reply Ketchup. I think we're going to order a doubles set tomorrow. After reading some more on the pad I see it has a bit of an issue with sliding of the pad. What's the best fix for this? Would putting wood under if even if i'm playing on a hard floor help? THanks. _________________

I play on my CF with a wood base, I put the sticky anti-slip things that comes with the pad under my CF and then I put some duck tape on the wood, this prevents my pad from sliding, that works for me. _________________

I finally went and bought a CF doubles set a couple months ago, and after some delays due to one of their suppliers missing a shipment deadline, got them about a month ago. They're quite nice, though when I first received them, the right pad had a slight issue where stepping close to the edge of the center button would make the left button trigger.
I ended up taking off the left button to see what was going on, and saw that the wire leading to it was very slightly stripped, in a way which looked like they pinched it while assembling it. It wasn't a huge deal and I just added some electrical tape and now it works like a dream. Still, it's a bit annoying that they let the wire get partially stripped.
Still, this is definitely the best set of pads I've ever had. They're even better than the arcade! |

I emailed and answered that question a couple days ago. I'm ready to buy a pair but want USB connectivity so I"m looking at other options (blueshark primarily). They didn't answer my email.
I don't see why a USB control box would be difficult at all. |
