just wanted to let anyone know. EMS USB adapters suck. noticibly laggy, even with a fast computer and a USB 2.0 port.

The Red Octane was only $15 and it works PERFECTLY in sync. Would it really be worth spending $5 less and getting a crappy product?

I am very happy with my adapter, even though I have busted up the down button on THREE Red Octane Ignition pads. *I am wearing this one out before I pony up the money to buy another one. The first one I bought, the second and third were covered by warranty*

Does anyone here know if a pad that connects using USB will work with Stepmania? I don't mean a pad with an adaptor, I'm talking about a USB pad itself.

omegatron buy the Super Dual Joy Box from www.elementsource.com and download drivers for it somewhere. remember to use the Start Select and up Code for 3 seconds and map your buttons. the adapter costed a total of 15 bux for me and it works fine. but theres some lag but i fixed it by turning the SM Timing windows(at the options screen) from 5 to 4(at first 3) and now it works fine. (i use the Official ITG Soft Pad, its great and it doesnt move)

Just to let everyone know that I purchased this adapter and it does work without no problems whatsoever. I also purchased a second pad and they both work great for doubles, so this adapter is highly recommended. Here is the link for it:

Do the Red Octane controller adapters work with DDR mario mix.
this: http://www.redoctane.com/universaladapter.html
or this: http://www.redoctane.com/magicpath.html
It says they may not. Has anyone tried them? If the pad matters, I will be using a red octane metal pad via the control box.

EMS USB 2 = LAG R US?
I just purchased an EMS USB adapter from Lik-Sang, plugged in the S-Video cable to my Television from my computer, and was ready to have some fun playing stepmania with my cobalt flux nd my recently downloaded simfiles for every DDR ever created(as well as ITG 1). I got the drivers working with a little struggling, and I was ready to play. I started up the first song, the original butterfly from the first mix, and then the horrors began. The timing was horribly off, it was so lagged I was astounded. I am no amazing DDR player, but I can AA SAKURA and A Paranoia Survivor. I ended up with almost 4X as many greats as perfects. and a D. I thought that maybe the problem was with me, maybe it seemed so off because it was arcade like timing, and I had heard that arcade timing is a lot stricter than home versions(what I normally play). So, to test that hypothesis I played a few more songs, Ded them all(eve n on strandard and light), and decided to search around the forms. I changed the timing window to be more reflective of the home versions(perfect window 50?), but that still didn't really help that much. I've decided that it is probably my adapter, after searching the forms and finding similar complaints from other memebers. I read at least 5 posts with peopole complaining that the EMS USB horribly lagged. Is there any way I can fix this problem? Any setting I can change? I feel kind of cheated because some people said it was a good adapter. when it performs(or at least mine does) like a piece of crap. Any suggestions?

Is that this

I was thinking of buying an adapter... how is this one, I heard some of them needed to enter that code or something... [Thinking of using this on PC w/ StepMania... have some cheap pad

Maybe someone could recommend which one to buy I have the non-wireless version of this pad.. Also I live near Vancouver, BC and would either like to pick it up locally or have it shipped out...

Thanks

[Edit]
Does anyone know if this is compatible?

Yes that link of the adapter you supplied will work. I bought that adapter and it works perfect. I use it with a Gamestop pad and don't have any problems with it. As a matter of fact I got that adapter off Ebay and had no problems with shipping.

So that adapter is highly recommended by me. GL on your purchase. E1.gif
