I've played this game at a friends house and two important points.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO SYNCHING AT ALL.

THE HARDEST SONG IN THE GAME IS A 8TH NOTE STREAM WITH RANDOM JUMPS, in other words, this game isn't meant for hardcore DDR/ITG players. It's more for people who jumped on the pad once, thought it was fun, then nevers stepped on it again.

also, one of the songs has a hand in it, lol.

Why is everyone worrying about PS2/USB connectors? This game was originally intended for Mac/PC and from what I see, they made their own pad. (though it looks like a Konami soft pad with Dance Praise on it instead of Konami...) Therefore, I would think that the pad ALREADY hooks up to the USB port. What would be the point in making a pad FOR PC with a PS2 port?

...well, hopefully that's what the company did. If they made this for PC with a PS2 port they're just digging their own graves.

*checks website* 50 bucks!??! I was considering buying this just to see if the steps where decent....screw them and their crappy knock off...

I know that this is blatantly a DDR knock-off, but is it REALLY worth Konami's time or personal interest to go after this?

1. No matter how you look at it, Konami suing these Christian dance nuts will effectively scream "Konami hates Jesus and His followers." Seriously, it isn't good from a PR standpoint to go after religious groups, especially when there is enough naughty content in DDR that would make the group scream back and probably get some machines removed from arcades. Don't laugh, it's happened. An arcade in southern Missouri was forced to downgrade from Extreme to Max2 when some parents discovered Little... well you know. Funny, they traded it for the Whistle Song and It's Raining Men on the default list.

2. I doubt this project would net enough profit for Konami to want it. Those that like DDR and understand how to use it will buy DDR. It's easy to "get", it is available for all major systems now, and generally there isn't much in the way of questionable content on the U.S. releases. Why go after DDR and its few suggestive songs when the Christian Coalition could target Hot Coffee mania in GTA or something like that? Basically people that play beginner all the time will get DDR because they like beginner mode, hardcore players probably won't see much of a challenge in this one, and everyone else will most likely avoid this because of the religious title and its association with "boring".

This probably won't sell that well and going after them would look bad. Jesus - 1, Konami - 0.

Uh yeah this is why Konami should make a new arcade mix and have a feature to disable songs like Andamiro added for recent Pump it Up mixes.... then the problem of arcade games disappearing goes away... and they can sue these dance praise guys E13.gif haha... oh wait that wouldn't look good on paper! These guys used religion as a shield to make their illegal duplicate! Haha

I personally think this is a good idea, but only if the company actually spent the time to make it look and play good.

If what was said just a few posts back was correct about the syncing issues, and if the format of the gameplay is really like how it is, then I fear that the game won't be taken seriously, aside from the fact that it's a Christian game.

I mean, c'mon man. Even little screaming asian kids love the game! You got to buy it now!

Meh. The idea of the game isnt bad for parents who have 7 year old ddr player wannabe's that they're all paranoid about because of some of the TERRIBLY UNCHRISTIAN music ddr has E13.gif But meh. I even like contemp. christian music and the majority of those songs blow.

The Audio A, Hawk Nelson + Newsboys might be worth it...but not for the ONE song for each of those bands. i mean honestly, who the hell would ever pay $48 for this?! [game only w/ usb adapter...not counting shipping]

I'd rather buy myself DDR E2 instead thanks. E10.gif

consensus:
maybe if it was like....ten bucks. XD

I'm an avid listener of KLOVE (a christian music station) and, generally speaking, the christian music does not fit the dance genre. Overall, the writing of christian music is subpar because funding is substandard and the best composers/artists are attracted to the pop scene where the money (and the people) are. Some Christians (not myself) may have an issue with dancing in general. Also, would one consider it unchristian/sinful/faith needs strengthening/etc for a christian who is a DDR player to not like this game, possibly because of the unattractiveness of the music? This game will be about as successful as the Christian "anti-Harry Potter" book series (Narnia) is in comparison. Any supposed future Dance Praise mixes that fall more under the dance genre in an attempt to accomidate the unfittedness of this music for the game will start pushing the line of what is considered "acceptable" by the hard lining, extremist christians. ::Finishes putting on flame suit:: Yes, I know, if you don't like it, don't buy it, and I won't, but don't let other "religious" people convince you to think that not liking this game will weigh against your eternal soul. After all, placement of faith is still a choice, at least to those who acknowledge and are aware that the choice exists. Good day.

EDIT: My apologies concerning the confusion over the book series analogy. Hopefully some of you understood what I meant. Not gonna spell it out for those that disagree with me because elaborating wouldn't make a difference to those minds. Good day.

I actuaally think it is a good IDEA. However, the key word is idea. Of course I don' agree that they should infringe on any copyrights, but there is a lot of good Christian music. Sadly however, only about 8 of these songs are good, only two of which are exceptional, and only a few more which are ok. The fact of the matter is that they went with cliched Christian music. I mean, really, how the heck can you use Steven Curtis Chapman in a dancing game? The Andy Hunter songs can't be too bad. For those that don't know he's a Christian techno artist, who does have SOME good stuff. It's definitely better than a lot of the repetitive and and dull trance on ITG, however is nothing compared to something such as Utopia. But really, I've heard most of these songs, and you can't fit quality steps to them. Most of them don't even belong in production.

And here comes the big but...

If they only used different music... as someone else said before me there are many quality Christian bands, they just aren't on the cliched Christian labels (for example Dove, Word, you got it...). If they went with groups such as Relient K, Switchfoot, and even different songs from some of the artists that they have on the list. They chose O Praise Him by David Crowder, when No One Like you is a billion times better, as would be Intoxicated, or any of the Electronica/Techno remixes off of his Sunsets and Sushi remix album. Relient K has multiple songts that would work. They could also throw in some new stuff. Really they could license Christian artists too make electronicized versions of well known songs. Really, some hymns would make good trance songs (I've heard the proof myslef). If a reasonable company did this, there could be good stuff. In fact, i would love to see a song like No One Like You on DDR. it is original and could have amazing steps.

And from the company, this has to be for little kids. The company is known best for it's veggietales type videos and books, which are for even younger children then veggietales is. Christian media has taken a step into the world of fads and trends, and I for one don't like it. Sure, if you have a good song about God, publish it. I love a lot of Christian Music (including bands on that list such as Sanctus Real and David Crowder Band), but I don't love that every cd that comes out to a Christian store now-a-days is praise and worship. It's all the same, and it's not good listening music. But hey, this week the trend [/relient k reference]. If you have a quality song, then get a label, produce a cd, etc. But it shouldn't be reserved for those special Christian stations that aren't even Christian, they're just "Positive and encouraging," and above all, TOO positive and encouraging. I can't even listen to K-Love, the nationwide Christian station, simply because they are too "God is good, and life is good, and everything good, and nothing ever goes bad!"

And one last thing, to the person earlier who said something to the amount of "We're supposed to include God in everything we do, now I can do that with DDR," that's not the point. The point is to glorify God in all we do. It's not any better to listen to Christian music than non-Christian, and it's not any more righteouss to play Dance Praise instead of DDR.

I guess that ends my rant against Christian media, and that's about it folks. If this game gets a good rating from anyone on this board (heh, like that would ever happen) I may consider buying it. But this game is not worth it, no matter what.

EDIT: To Romeo Joe: Narnia is a classic work by C.S. Lewis, a famed author who contributed to not only fictitious side of literature, but also with theological works. It's been around for much longer than Harry Potter, if not longer than J.K. Rowling.

I would also like to add that Christian music is mostly constrained by the labels. Most Christian labels, if not all, are owned by major cecular labels. The major labels give the smaller Christian labels certain restrictions, which all artists under the label are required to meet, unless they become extremely popular and are excused. This means that every 12-18 months a new album must be released (full length), restrictions on amount of concerts, higher cd prices, higher concert ticket prices, etc. Most cecular bands are not hold to such standards as they usually see more sales. This is why the best Christian artists fall into two labels. Tooth and Nail, or any cecular label. A lot of Christian bands have resorted to leaving the Christian label, ehich in cases such as Switchfoot, left them pretty unliked by a lot of their Christian fans. They now can not have any ads which may expose them as a Christian band, and their ticket price (80,000 for a show, no less) is too high for pretty much any Christian organization to pay. thus, they lost a chunk of their fanbase. I for one think that's its actually a pretty good thing, as they can now sing the same songs and get more money. God never said it's not Christian music under a cecular label, especially when Christian labels are owned by those cecular labels.

and indeed this is stealing an idea

joke post

I think they need to throw in The legend of Max in there just for fun, mix it up a bit, throw them off their feet and the look on their mothers faces when they hear Hard NRG rock music comming from their 7yr old's bedroom.

Oh, and the freeze @ 666bpm should make the 'fear' lyric twice as loud and evil sounding and a devil should come up on the screen saying im gonna burn you in hell or something.

Now that would be fun. biggrin.gif

OMGZZ CHRISTIANS ROBBINGG FROM KONAMI ISN'T THAT LIKE AGAINST THEIR MORAL CODE LOLZ!!
*rolls eyes*

thirded, btw.
I don't like christian music (I don't like most music at all though)...
so I don't really see the point of this. Most Christians are gonna want to play real ddr anyway...
or maybe as a Christian I'm just tired of stuff that tries to make Christianity "cool"
It's a lifestyle, not entertainment. It's not "cool". If you want to have fun, then play a really good game meant for fun, (for me) like bemani, or shooters, or rpgs, or whatever genre you enjoy. If you want to be religious, then talk about it, or read, or pray, or whatever. There's no point in mixing them...
i think.

counterargument please.

Ok heres my two cents..

First off understand that I am a ministry student at a University to become a youth minsiter..

2nd.. Im only disagreeing with part of Jadin's point, not all of it. Jadin and I are ollld friends so I think Im allowed E13.gif.

Ok here we go:

Dance Praise is a great idea. For people who do not know God at all, and yet will play this just because its a DDRish game and that is 'cool' and might make them ask questions about who God is. That is why I live like I do. I play DDR quite a bit still, and other bemani games.. (pop'n music being my favorite for those who just want to donate to my cause of... I want the game -_-) and I play them to talk to people that don't believe like I do. It has been a big blessing to me to talk, hang out, and get to know several groups of bemani players over my lifetime so far and I hope to continue the tradition.

If I get to introduce people that want to do something 'fun' or dare I say it 'cool' to God because they listen to the music.. well then lets do it. Im not saying that its a good idea that they 'ripped' off Konami.. but I will let Konami deal with Konami's stuff. Otherwise.. quit dissing it.. theres really no point. If you don't like it.. don't play it. Its like all video games. Quit dissing a game just because you don't think you would like it or that it looks dumb to you.. thats pointless.

thats my sermon :-P.

hmm.
from this standpoint though
do you really think it's a good idea to let a video game advertise Christianity?
i mean
*thinks*
ok maybe it is haha, I dunno

But I still don't think any non-Christian would spend $50 on a game full of stuff they don't believe in. I'd say this game is only for Christians, and a small number of them at that. Like I said before, most Christians would just wanna play real DDR.
But I guess it might be good for somebody. *shrug*
