double ...and heavy?

Yea, I was thinking the same thing. It sounds sort of involved, too much for a freestyle. Not to say you can't do it, but it would be easier to produce on a lower difficulty.

Best of luck coordinating that double-heavy (or Oni, since it seems you said Megamix). With the steps the way they are, the best you could really manage would be a decent-footwork freestyle, but you'd have to improvise, unless you want to choreograph the entire thing, which would take a LONG time and a LOT of effort.

Even the little steps would be rough.

I know it'd be a challenge, but since most of the song is streaming, I'm thinking it would be mostly fancy footwork and spins...with perhaps a few drops thrown in.

Are there any Whistle Song routine videos, or routines you've seen using that song before? I always thought it would be cool to go up with a friend, both playing it. One could sing along, and the other could blow an actual whistle along to the song. I dunno.

There's no doubt that it's been done before; however, you'd have to be flashy about it (actually have some sort of dancing, that is). You've got a lot of potential cheese factor (i.e. it can get really ridiculously cheesy if you don't keep it cool).

I can't think of any videos offhand. Sorry.

sometimes it is really kool to do flips (or spins) when there is a double arrow <- -> like that so you could do a flip when it looks like this

<- -> (forward)
<- -> (backward)
<- -> (forward)

that semes to work for me so you could try it.

SVGL2 - Reign + Dr Hikaru - that was the first decent routine I recall of it.

I usually keep him on bench because he takes too many energy cards. Anyways, I heard in Prekwenci's Drifting Away routine Phrek does this awesome move called the "Rewind" or something like "Reverse Get Up" at the begining of his routine. I checked it out and I only see him dance, trip, and get the audience clapping at the begining

No. Freestyling being the combination of DDR and dancing, you have to at least be hitting arrows. You can do edit steps, little, etc. However, some tournaments require a minimum number of arrows on a song.

So: you have steps. Choreograph your freestyle to those steps.

i can tell you all how to freestyle in four ways.

you have to have a lot of freekin time on your hands, im talking about days to weeks if needed.

find a song that you really like

know the beats to it, i mean all of them.

and have a somewhat since of style and know how to have fun

this probably is not for sure but thats how i did it. but i f/s "lets groove" on light mode in like a day or two. but if you plan on f/s a song on heavy or standard it may take longer.

(note, I've never freestlyed in my life!) would it be okay to do an improv FS for the first time just for the fun of it? (i.e. arcades when hanging out with friends) I'm pretty sure you can stay full back unless you're competing. correct me if I'm wrong, but I still think that it should be fun and nothing else E4.gif

Sure it'd be ok. When you improv, you run the risk of looking like crap, but no one's going to be right there going "hey, no improv freestyling."

And I don't quite know what you mean by "stay full back."

liek omgz becky look at er butt... it is sooooo huge!

ok first of all if you are too lazy to look at the pages before this page for some tips then same on you... i do want more people to cross over from the usual PA to FS, but with an attitude like that! it just makes me sick to the stomach. freestyling is not made to just attract crowds, it goes way deeper than that. just look at the well know DDR freestylers; Kevin Kim, Jing, $Bill, Bruce Leroy, DJ 8-Ball, and many others. its not about winning a buttload of money or a freaking DDRMAX2 machine it is about gaining respect from other DDR players and other people. sure you might just see a person do a PERFECT FS like Kevin Kim's Dam Dariram, but you never seen how it was made or how long it took him to perfect all those moves he's done in that routine. and FYI Dam Dariram is hella of a hard song with so many jumps and the speed is pretty fast for an ordinary freestyler. also i don't think he was in that tournament just to win, he was there just to have fun and meet some new people(even though he was probably well known before that routine.) It was said before, and it will be said again:

Freestyle is a DYING breed

many people have tried to revive its beauty back to the dance pad, but only a few were able to give it life to last a couple more years. with people not stepping up to the plate and thinking "LIEK OMGZ I LOOK GAY DANCING AROUND ON THIS ARROW SMASHING GAME!" i just really hope that i was a really big part of the freestyling group back in those MGL 1, SVGL 1, CBN, and B3 when freestyle was huge and people actually appreciates the hard work and dedication of those "DANCERS" to make and give us youngins a stepping stone toward a the beautiful world of FREESTYLE.

all i can really say right now is BRAVO, THANK YOU, IT BRING TEARS TO MY EYES!

We still live it and love it here in the Southeast.

I went to this DDR tourny held by my dorm tonight... well... it wasn't big, and it was rather lame (come on... soft pads?). It was a PA tourny which really isn't my thing; aside it was really just a fun get together. No, there were no hardcore DDRers there in comparison to what i've seen in actual real tournies. And yeah... even though the DDR scene completely sucks here, I was still wiped out in the first round. For those who have actually played with me... they can tell you how bad I am in PA.

No matter, it got me reminiscing about those big freestyle tournies I participated in and I was hit with nostalgia. I even went back to rewatch old tournament videos from years ago. To those people who still freestyle, and enjoy it... who are still experiencing a thriving freestyle community, I ask of you to enjoy it and savor it. Because life changes and more important things come into your life that require more of your time and attention. Most of the people I used to play DDR with and would have a plain 'ol good time with have moved on... including me. However, I still look back on those days from time to time, and say "damn, that was fun freestyling on a DDR machine." Get yourself involved in tournaments... who cares if you don't win, the people that you meet there are awesome to chill with.

To those freestyling, keep doing it. Every DDR machine I walk pass now, I see almost none of it. When you freestyle, you share the experience -- I know I love watching it.

Keep the legacy going, and enjoy it. Because I know I loved it E1.gif

I FS on Secret Rendezvous on Heavy. Lots of pelvic thrusts.

And if I ever find an arcade with DDR, you can bet there's gonna be a poopy of bar raping.
