All right... that sucks though (I rarely get to play ITG at an arcade)
But if there's no other way I'll just wait till next time _________________

Actually, you should. Try this.
Create a folder called "In The Groove 2" or "In The Groove", depending on what machine you are about to play. Then in that folder, create a new folder called "Edits". Then put all your edit files in the "Edits" folder. _________________

Ok, cool.
If there was any way to do that, I was thinking that this was the way to do it. _________________

Hopefully the game will know to put the other necessary files (xml, xsl, sigs, etc.) in that folder though.
I lean more with letting the arcade make the folder for you, cuz then it will lay out all the necessary stats files and such. If you have a laptop, you could always bring it (or at least in your car), play one game, pop the drive in the laptop and copy the edits onto the /Edits folder, then go back and play w/ the drive and it will all be set.
By now I imagine you're already set though. |

OK i put mine in, it reads it, then says rewrite error. I deleted all the files on it just in case, but i'm wondering if it will work. I'm not sure what kind it is. It says "DaneElec" and it's a 256 mb. any answers? _________________

OK.
I got a Sandisk Cruzer Micro 256mb card in the mail today...
It works fine.
So i grabbed my old USB (that did not previously work, ever) copied the 'In The Groove 2' folder onto my computer, from my Sandisk. Then changed the editable.ini file so the names were something else and the pounds.
Then opened up the stats.xml in notepad and changed basically everything i could find that had 'camsta4' or any of my scores id done so far and changed them all back to 0.
Then i deleted the .sig files from the Last Good folder and the In The Groove 2 folder.
Chucked that new folder onto my old card.
OMFG it works fine, ive read before you cant do this, but i just did it...
THEN i did it again for my friend on his USB that preiviously didnt work.
The first time I used it it loaded ok but it said "SIGNATURE FAILED"...
but after the first game it saved ok and every game from then on it works just like a white list card. and it created new .sig files...
hmmm, sooooo any reason why we cant do this?
someone else give it a try. |

Congratulations, you ruined your stats.
You absolutely positively NEVER edit your Stats.xml file.
That's what signature validation is there for.
(Why in the world did you mess with your Last Good directory?) _________________

The point still stands, never ever ever ever edit Stats.
And you definitely don't touch your Last Good directory unless (backup) appears beside your name while playing.
It's good that you have a backup, but just plug in the card and keep playing. Let the arcade machine do all the work for everything 'cept the Editable.ini file. _________________

The whole point i was making before, which it doesnt seem anyone noticed, was i can make ANY USB work on our ITG2...
The only catch so far i've noticed is if you play using 2 cards that one has been created from the other, then they both frick up.
but if you use them separately they are ok.
I noticed this today when my friend and I played a game together both using our cards, my original one that the machine created and the copy of that that i edited and put on his on his card...
after that game neither of our cards work anymore...
probably something to do with the core ID in both cads still being the same, so the machine had a spasm and didnt save properly or something
so if your never gonna play with someone else then this is ok for you, to get around the white list using any old usb.
1. Copy my 'In The Groove 2' folder onto someone elses USB that previously did not work with ITG2.
2. Change every name in Editable.ini, Stats.xml to whatever name they want for their card.
3. Change all scores from my card back to 0 on their stats.xml.
4. Play 1 game under 'SIGNATURE FAILED' with their usb with my edited files on it.
5. From then on their card works fine with all their info on it, no trace of camsta4 anywhere and none of my scores on it, it created new .sig files for itself, and all their scores save fine.
Also, i dont think any of that Internet Ranking crap will work now coz the ID is probably still the same...and im sure there would be some other things that are a bit dodgy but basically my friend has been using his card now with and edited version of my In The Groove 2 folder on it fine for the last week, with all his scores being saved and everything, just as if the machine created the folder itself.
Thought people would wanna know about that... |

Random bump-in.
I just got a flash drive today.... I did read that certain PNY flash drives will work.
I got a PNY Attache (1gig)... Will that work?
Here's a pic of one of the models... Pretty much looks exactly the same as this, just holds more.
