A roll looks like a freeze arrow exept all spikey, and when you get one, just keep tapping on the arrows it is on. _________________

Tap it like a quarter note at that song's BPM basically. _________________

It's about a quarter note at 200 BPM, which is faster than most songs, so if you just tap a roll at quarter notes at the song's tempo, you'll lose it. I recommend 1/8ths.
Also, since most rolls come in pairs, remember that EACH must be tapped at that speed, which means on a whole you're stepping twice that fast. Therefore, most rolls should probably be treated basically as 1/16ths. _________________

I'm guessing that's the information Jason Ashbar, as isn't he the guy that does a lot of RoXoR's compy or tech stuff? _________________

Ok, I'm not on this post to say that PSMO is harder than Pandemonium or anything, I know its not. I'm a DDR fan and know my way around the pads pretty well as I comfortably pass 10-footers. I've recently wanted to try ITG because I've heard its harder. Harder is good, because, believe it or not, I like to fail songs. If you fail a song, you force yourself to get better faster in order to pass that song and get less humiliated in the arcades. When you're just going for a AAA, or 4-star I think in ITG terms, then it seems you get better slower 'cuz you've already basically mastered the song, save for 2 or 3 greats or whatever ITG calls them.
Theres a point to this post, I never use the bar because I play mostly at home. I don't even use the bar in the arcade when playing songs such as LoM and MaxX Unlim, if you only play ITG then sorry cuz u might not know what these songs are like. Some guy said that if I ever played ITG that I needed to get good with a bar fast or I'd never ever pass a 12-footer. Is this true? _________________

Not Nessarily true, my friends brother can pass Vertex with no bar. Though it would be a lot easier with a bar (IMO) also you could work more on timeing on use less energy. _________________

More on rolls...
The steps have to be fast, as I recall reading that the roll's alternating steps have to be within 0.3 seconds of each other (e.g., LRLRLRLRLRLRLRLR). It's probably in another topic somewhere, but rather than searching for it, I'll just reiterate it here.
For something like Robotix (Hard), though, I've just kept the speed of the start of the roll based on the original tempo of the song and didn't bother trying to speed up any for the (IMHO) stupid accelerando with all the mines during the roll. So, that more or less proved that the roll is time based, rather than tempo based. |

You can jump-stream rolls, "bouncing" instead of "wobbling" to keep it alive. I didn't think of it first, but I saw people doing it at norcal regionals. |

Could you explain the grading system though. I noticed it is totally different from DDR. |

The grading system is pretty simple. Each step judgement gives you a number of points as follows:
Fantastic: +5
Excellent: +4
Great: +2
Decent: +-0
Way Off: -6
Miss: -12
Hit mine: -6
Yeah: +5
Bad: +-0
The number of points you earn is divided by the maximum number of points, multiplied by 100, and truncated to the closest 100th. This gives you your percentage score. Your grade (assuming you've passed the song) is based on solely on the percentage score. I don't know all of the numbers offhand, but for example:
89.00% - 91.99% = S-
92.00% - 93.99% = S
94.00% - 95.99% = S+
96.00% - 97.99% = *
98.00% - 98.99% = **
99.00% - 99.99% = ***
100% = **** |
