I've never seen a dedicated cabinet's arrows break...then again...I've never seen DDR arrows break either, and this is coming from some kid that would make trips to the arcade nearly every day to play DDR back before ITG.

I've had an arcade that for the longest time had replaced the bottom right arrow with a plastic board. I guess someone broke it in. It may seem hard to bust through a thick piece of acrylic with your foot, but it does happen.

Damn! Do you have your machine set up in a gravity well or something?

There are 3 arcades around where I live with at least 1 Extreme machine, and have had those machines since Extreme (and in one case, Max2) came out, and only ONE of them has ever had a broken panel. How can your machine possibly have gotten 10!? shocked.gif

The hard stompers will stop stomping once they realize how sensitive a dedicted cabinet's pads are. You don't have to worry about them breaking since nobody will stomp E1.gif

i dont think that will be the case, once somebody finds a style of play, it takes a long time for them to change, if at all. also, the sensors started the same way on ddr pads, its just hard to believe because we didnt get our machines first hand and its been a long time since new machines have been made for ddr

Nah I stomped like crazy before moving over to ITG and my play style changed from stomping to just stepping because of the sensitivity of the pads.

That's because you realized that they were more senisitive and you wanted to change your style. Just like how it was easy for me to change to flat foot playing because I wanted to. But there are people who either will never realize that the pads are sensitive or will never change no matter what. Back when our DDR pads were as sensitive as it can possibly be, there were still tons of stompers.

Yeah, stomping used to help me not rush the beat whenever I played DDR, regardless of how sensitive the pad was. In our area we've broken about 6-8 arrows on 2 different machines, but never due to stomping. I broke a right arrow with my left foot on exotic ethnic (which is way too fast for me to stomp through) and every time Chris breaks an arrow you don't hear a stomp but you hear a loud crack =D
It's pretty funny.
But I've never broken an arrow by stomping too hard. When stomping, you usually place your whole foot on the arrow anyway, which reduces the pressure psi or whatever physics you wanna use. If you play on the ball of your feet (like Chris, who's broken the most arrows here and is a light stepper) then you'll be more likely to break an arrow.
I think.
