Nutrition. What is healthy for you when playing? Or good, whatever works for you.
This kind of derives from my old thread, How Do You Prepare Yourself? but it isn't considered a R.O.T.T.
Yeah, what do you eat or drink? Could it be something that gives you energy?
How bout something that can prevent cramps?
I have a few suggestions:
Since Vit. A helps your eyesight, maybe carrots can help you see bag's arrows better.
I say an energy drink should put you into overdrive (vit. e, taurine, somethin)
Eat something with plenty of carbs and proteins like pasta or pizza.
What do you do, or do you have any suggestions? Post em here.

First one is a real stretch, if feasible at all. 2nd is plain stupid--any athlete will tell you that caffeine before an event is a bad idea. 3rd is the most realistic. _________________

I go with the good old "Hoo-ah" bars. They're the best. _________________

Protein- will prevent your leg muscles from giving out so quickly on 10 footers, meaning that you won't have to bar rape after the break point.
Sodium- will deflate your lung span...AVOID SODIUM! If oxygen can't get to yourmuscles then your whole body will...
1.)HURT LIKE HELL
2.)COLLAPSE
3.)MAKE YOU BAR RAPE THE SONG
4.)MAKE YOU TYPE IN CAPS LOCK
Vitamin A No, vitamin A will not help you see the steps on Bag better, That relies on memoreization, and genetics. (The ability to see well or have perfect color vision relies on genetics and care of your eyes.) So you'll be stuck with Solo or speed mods for now...
coffee- I drank a whole pot of coffee and fell on my buttocks (Right on the leftarrow!)While playing Sakura, the rush of energey may make you feel good at first but asudden drained feeling and loss of balance will incure
Sports drinks- Nothing but simple sugars and sodium...AVOID THESE, drink water and lots of it. It will help prevent diareah and will keep your muscles from hurting so much.
Red Bull- Red Bull is the evil, THE EVIL!! The only energey you get is imaginary, and you'll end up drier than the Sahara afterwards. (It also makes stuff taste funny)
[b]Soda[/]- This stuff is also evil! It's full o' sugar, caffeine and sodium, and the carbonation will give you cramps and eat at your muscles.
Based on this the best meal would have to be Subway with water, Subway is fast, low in Sodium, fat and, high in carbs and protein. Also, there is always a Subway within wlaking distance of any DDR machine. (Seriously, I could go to any DDR machine near me, punt a football and smack the ham storage area.)
And remember!
It's best to do DDR in succession, begin your day with 7 footers or less.
No reason to be gasping for air, after you just woke up and played all the MaXXes and Sakura in one round.
P.S. HOLD THE MAYO! Mayo is also verrry ebil! _________________

heh, the first time i used an energy drink i felt like i was in overdrive.
now i get cramps, so i switched to energy bars.
They are dry, so beware.
I thought of some others:
Yes, pop is the worst; in canada they sell mtn. dew that is 3x the caffeine than the original.
I saw a guy cripple down with cramps after he did daikenkai on standard.
Mind over matter: Think that the burning sensation is good and is nothing but a minor nuisance.
Potassium: I believe it can reverse sodium and lactic acid amount in your body. I read about it so if you get scared, you happened to get lactic acid and soon the acid goes to your bladder (you what that means.
Why have memorization? But vit. A improves your eyesight.

i always drink water, lots and lots of water. i do some skretching before i play. try not to wear heavy clothing, it will cause you sweat even more and that means more water. yeah i would have to agree with eating subway for carbs and protein. take a breather after every song, thats why they gave you 99 secs to choose a song. dont eat anything that would cause you dehydrate quicker. oh yeah, and wear lots of smell good, if a girl starts to talk to you, you dont want to scare them away with Sakura sweat smell all over you. _________________

There is an extremely small constituency of individuals who could be mistaken for scientists or otherwise intellectual people on DDR Freak. They're typically easy to identify. As Baggage so adequately put, never you fear. _________________

Last week, I decided to try drinking a Red Bull before an ITG session. Truth be told, I didn't feel anything at all. During that session, I managed to pass my first 9 on ITG, Xuxa Hard, but I doubt the Red Bull had anything to do with that. So while I haven't really tested it all that thoroughly, I'd say energy drinks are pretty pointless with DDR/ITG. Aside from the fact that it didn't do anything, Red Bull is pretty unhealthy, too. There were 110 calories in the 8 oz. can I had. That's no better than soda! In fact, it's a tiny bit worse. I'm guessing other "energy drinks" have a similar lack of nutrition value. There's more sodium in Red Bull, too. Not to mention the fact that the tastes is completely bizarre. About the best way I can describe the flavor is a combination of Dr. Pepper and Juicy Fruit gum. I'll stick to water, thanks. |

Take a glucose tablet about 30 minutes before you go play. Down it with a half-liter of water. _________________

This is an excellent topic. Lots of useful info in here. I've been suspecting that not eating right has been holding me back lately... I'll definitely try eating at Subway before I go to the arcade next time. |

well the main problem with energy drinks is that they are loaded with caffiene... so they are much more similar to coffee than gatorade, in other words, energy drinks are the exact opposite of what you want before physical activity (caffiene = big no-no), even though the "style" of energy drinks make them look like they are for sports/athletics, etc....
what about gatorade, anyone? would anyone suggest gatorade over water? i'm not sure if it has sodium or anything else bad in it, but supposedly gatorade is supposed to be better at hydrating you than anything else.... i think... who can give me the real deal on gatorade here? _________________

Gatorade apparently replenishes the salts (electrolytes) lost when you sweat. Those salts supposedly serve a purpose in the body, which I would know if I had any sort of Biology class. _________________

'Kay, so Gatorade IS good, then? Ah good, cause I love it and always get one at this one arcade... all I know is what was written on the label, which is kinda what Synaesthesia said.
Mmm... I'm gonna have to take some notes here... cause I wanna freaking improve...
Ah, I like Subway, too. Another yay. |

i read an article in a running magazine that said caffeine isn't bad for you, it actually helps. i drink caffeine every time before i run a 5k, it makes my legs hurt less during the race and consequently i can run faster. don't drink it right before you do something because that's obviously bad. drink it 30 minutes to 2 hours before physical activity and it can really help. if you're getting caffeine from soda though, make sure you water it down. all the acid in that stuff will give you a stomach ulcer like no other. |

Gatorade may be packed with electrolytes, but it has 50 calories per 8 oz. serving. I remember reading somewhere that the Gatorade spokesman himself doesn't drink the stuff during exercise because of the calories.
Those of you wondering about what to drink might find this helpful. _________________
