I'd recommend creating a thread for this topic (here in the Chit-Chat forum is probably a good place, I think ) since I don't know how many people read this thread.

My name is Jason and I work in a small school district in MN. I am very interested in starting a DDR unit throughout our district and am looking for some advice:
1. What would be the most effective way to have 30-34 students active playing DDR in a gym setting?
2. Can more than 2 players play at the same time on the same tv?
3. I would need it to be portable (so I can take it to other schools in the District)
4. Cost; DDR pads (wireless option?), game console, TV's/projector and any other equipment I would need to have 30-34 kids participating.
5. Is it available for different ability levels? K-12?
I really appreciate the help and information, I feel that this would be a great opportunity to get kids active and have some FUN!
thanks

1. Your best bet would be to have multiple game consoles, but this would be expensive and probably be hard to supervise. There really is no way of having that many people participate in DDR at once. Perhaps you could combine it with other activities.
2. Don't quote me on this, but I believe there's a version (for xbox, I think) that allows up to four people to play at once. But I really don't know what I'm talking about since I only have a ps2. If you create a thread about this, someone knowledgeable than myself will probably have an answer.
3. The console would be portable. Whether or not the mats would be portable would depend on what kind you get (cheap soft pads can be whisked from one place to another, but good luck dragging a CF or Afterburner around. )
4. Personally, I don't recommend wireless mats because there's a delay and you have to mess with the timing a lot to get it right. For a console I recommend a ps2, but I'm biased because it's the only console I have. The cost for one is in the $150 - $200 range, IIRC. As for mats: I truly believe that if you don't get the best home pad there is (Cobalt Flux), you're just wasting your money. But CFs are very expensive ($300 plus shipping!). I've had bad experiences with RedOctane Ignitions and other soft pads. Hopefully some softpad users will be able to tell you more.
5. Yes. Every game has difficulty levels ranging from very easy to very (for most ) hard. _________________

Hi there, I am Cap'n Jack. My real first name is Eric. I chose this name because I heart DDR and the Captain Jack song. Outside of these forums I am usually known as FighterFan (google FighterFan and you may see the other forums I go to), but I figured it would feel wrong going under that name here at a DDR site.
Currently, I am a novice DDR Player. I can dance to Light songs with no problems and I have a little difficulty with Standard. I haven't bought myself a dance pad yet so I rely on going to my local arcade for DDR fix. I would imagine when I buy a dance pad I will make it to the Heavy songs.
I was wondering about if any DDR songs have full length versions. I searched one day to find out about the Captain Jack artist and I ended getting the full length Captain Jack song. I know Twilight Zone, Kung Fu Fighting, and some other songs that were US hits have full length versions. Do you know any other songs that I can find full length versions of and where I can get them legally?
Thanks For The Welcome!!! |

Piracy is bad. The only "legal" ones you can find are fan-made remixes of certain songs (like DM Ashura does). _________________

You can find legal full versions of songs like Take Me Away, Heaven, Will I?, etc. _________________

Hey, my name's Mira, I've been playing DDR for about a year. I play on heavy and my favourite song is Cartoon Heroes. As I am not mentally challenged, I know that no one will read or care about this. But that's okay. -is use to it- _________________

My name is Jesse though when I play DDR I go by the name: Dark Cloud. I have been playing DDR for 2 years now. Started on Beginner and quickly made my way up to Standard. I can play some heavy songs but can never AA songs. I have freestyles on different levels. My favorite is Speed Over Beethoven (Light) Cant stop falling in love (speedy mix) heavy and Healing Vision (anglic mix) heavy all on speed x2 _________________

Hello, Everyone. I am Tracy. (22/Male/Bronx N.Y.)
I have been on these boards a while now and I am friendly to all. If anyone lives in the bronx or even in New York at all, please use the PM button or the email button below the name trayball2k. I am a trick member and I have over 100 posts so finding my name should not be hard.
About myself, I am a heavy player whose favorite song is Frozen Ray for Extreme. On foot, I will use 2x until the song reaches 200 bpm. I will use 1.5x until the song reaches 300 bpm. 299 bpm or faster: Forget It.
On the controller, I will use 3x until the song reaches 240bpm. I will use 2x until I see The Legend of Max and Max. (Period) My AA 's are only on controller and exceptionally easy step charts. If I dont get an A I consider myself to not know the song at all.
About the arcade, This is my ultimate goal. I need a Cobalt Flux because the plastic is for learning. I have no more to learn on these things because they stop me from trying Paranoia Survivor or harder.
About the home pad, This is my dominion. I suffer endlessly trying to keep my mat in fair condition because my techniques are too advanced. If I could keep the mat still, I love to freestyle my favorite songs. I'm tired of sliding mats and if you guys get or have any, you'll get tired of it too.
So much for an introduction. Welcome and have fun on the forums. My advice: Avoid flame wars (Arguments). Use the edit button quickly when you make a mistake. Because some people here are mean, you do not want to let anybody get on your nerves Ignore the person to avoid getting "Points". (a count towards being banned from the forums) Last but not least, look for the right topic or stepchart before you ask the question because people here seem to have already asked everything. Any questions? I invite all to my PM or email box. _________________

Hey, I'm a new member here....obviously, but I am not new to DDR. I have been playing a little over 2 years now. I didn't become a member just to brag about accomplishments and tell everyone my 1337 skilliz. I, in fact, have come to give some basic types to beginners and other peeps growing in the ways of DDR (sorry ITGer's, I have no experience there.)
Right after I post my introduction here, I'm going to support the gameplay forums here with many tips I've learned. If you ruly are new to the game I suggest that you check out some of the tips from the people on the site, but more importantly, practice.
Well, so long for now. Sorry if you think this post is too long. _________________

Hey everyone, what's happening?
Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Danny and from Richmond, KY. Not many folks play DDR in this area...there may be a few from lexington on the boards. But anyways, the players from Cincinnati, OH and Columbia, TN told me about this place, so I thought I would check it out.
On the technical aspect, I am currently at the level of Heavy (barely passing Max 300), so I still have a lot of work cut out for me. But i spend more time on freestyle.
I've seen some of the videos on here and have been really impressed (for example - Phrekwenci's Drifting Away). I'm happy to find people out there poppin' and lockin' and actually dancing to the music. _________________

I'm a hardcore player. My favorite songs are anything harder than Maxx Unlimited like PSMO. My DD:Recall has alot of Heavy AAAs in my Sig. Almost every grade I've made are SDGs and AAAs except Paranoia Survivor Max, Paranoia Survivor and The Legend of Max on DD:Recall. _________________
