...well, I don't have enough ITG experience to know exactly what I'd want in ITG3, but I'll just say some more/continued emphasis on making the Hard charts exciting would be nice. | But think of what you're saying... why emphasize making the hard charts more exciting over making the toughest expert charts more challenging? They want this game to be appealing to everyone. If they want players like MegamanX and Kiba to stay interested, they should make more super-challenging charts. However, to keep mid-level players interested, they should make more fun hard charts and entry-level expert charts.
They're both important considerations, and by no means should either one be made more important than the other. That said, there is no reason not to continue the progression of difficulty of this game. High-level players are already getting *s on 12s and 13s, but us average-level players know the thrill of finally passing a song that you couldn't handle before. Why shouldn't the best players be able to feel that, too? |
Considering that the vast VAST majority of players are people who can't even come close to 13s, or any of the 12s for that matter, I think is more than enough reason to show which is more important. Just because they don't post as often on message boards doesn't mean they don't exist.
A question, what do you think is the ratio of people who play ITG on a somewhat frequent basis who can pass 12s-13s as compared to who can't? I think it's quite clear that making the harder stuff harder should be MUCH less of a concern. How many of us can seriously pass Determinator consistantly? Honestly. And it's not like the best of the best have come anywhere close to ****ing the game yet, unlike DDR. So how can you say the best of the best have nothing left to do?
Good luck attracting new players which will essentially be the future of ITG if your main focus is adding harder stuff than there already is. Very few people are at the point where they have nothing left to pass, and passing isn't even close to everything, the higher level players are already hooked, and are probably less likely to leave than a person whose first 9 is Hip Hop Jam.
I'd like to see more 11s and 12s that are difficult because they have hands though personally. Queen of Light and Twighlight don't really cut it. |
I tend to agree with most of what you said. I'm sure you would agree that Roxor has done a pretty much decent job in balancing out the difficulty in ITG. Roxor obviously knows not to make ITG just one layout. They have already demonstrated in ITG1 and ITG2 that a mix between harder songs and easier songs appeals to a larger group of individuals. ITG3, I'm sure, will be no different and will incorporate equal amounts of difficult songs, to keep the better players interested and easier songs (9s, 10s, and 11s) so that the other players aren't overwhelmed. |

I think that Roxor should keep doing what they already have. I absolutely love ITG2's huge amount of ten footers. I can finally challenge myself without having to play the same songs over and over again! _________________

djzmudpony wrote: | I know this thread was geared toward ITG3, but I'd like to give my two cents on what I'd like in ITG2 (PS2). Mind you, this is coming from an "somewhat older" player who plays primarily in Fitness Mode.
1. I'd like the game to remember your weight. It's a pain (although only a 10 second one) that players need to enter their weight every time you start up fitness mode. The game remembers your caloric goals but doesn't remember your weight.
2. I'd also like an option to enter your name on the Fitness Mode menu. As it is now, if you don't play in Game Mode first, your high scores get ranked as EVNT. And while this may seem like quite an insignificant request, everyone likes to see their name up there on the high score list.
3. Please, please, please, fix the weight to calorie ratio. Currently, I have to enter my weight as 20lbs in order to receive somewhat accurate caloric expenditures.
4. I would also like to see some sort of chart which shows your current and past progress in Workout Mode (a la DDR). Keeping a chart of your workout history lets you know current ability, plot your future goals and allow you to push beyond them.
5. One last request: I'd like the ability to pause Endless Mode, or be able to put some sort of break stage in, during Workout Mode. I'm not at the level of many other players and while I like playing 9's and 10's I can't play more than 3 or 4 in a row.
That's it. Otherwise, I'd be happy with an ITG clone (with new songs of course). |
No offense, but it's pretty much impossible to get an accurate representation of calories burned simply because everybody plays differently. One player might burn more calories doing Easy songs than another would doing Expert. I understand that it would be a great feature, but it really isn't possible at all. |

True.
I see my friends hopping around the pad doing something like a 7 footer, while I play something like Walking on Fire on quick and never move my feet (I leave them diagonal so each foot can hit two arrows, one heel, one toe).
Calories burned will never be accurate.
Slightly off topic, they should remove Battle Mode in ITG 3 and replace it with something else. If it was two players for one dollar maybe it would be worth keeping, but right now it's never played. |

Although that is true, you have to admit that ITG's calorie counter was ridiculous. I don't care how you play, you can't burn 100 kcal on a single song (FYI, sprinting is one of the highest calorie burning exercises you can do and that only burns an average of 20 kcal/min).
The ITG developers just have to do more research and come up with a more reasonable calorie consumption algorithm which approximates the average ITG player at that level. _________________

I believe that it was confirmed as a bug only for ITG1 CS and ITG2 AC. _________________

While I agree with you completely that it is impossible to get a completely accurate reading (because there are too many factors involved such as body type (endo/meso/ecto-morph), BMI, and even playing experience), one can't disagree with the fact that the calorie counting system is quite off. Even world class athletes don't (can't!) expend the amount of calories that ITG tells me I burn in an hour. _________________

Thanks. | Much thanks. Any way, how about putting Heut Ist Mein Tag on ITG3? That would make a nice 11.
My Dream Songlist:
All of ITG1 (so I don't have to buy 1)
All of ITG2 (same principle)
Stop and Go
Crazy Frog
Dragostea Dintei
Heut Ist Mein Tag (and maybe a little bit more Blumchen)
Emo Kid
The Lesbian Song

Roxor has licensed the songs in a certain manner so that they can repeat EVERYTHING from a previous release in a newer one. So expect ITG3 to consist of 2/3rds old and 1/3rd new.
And according to Roxor, one method of handling repeats in a console version is determined by the song's usage from a Marathon/Survival course. |

It was said there wouldn't be enough room, but to me that seems strange. |

There's also no reason to put in repeats of songs that no one plays anyway. _________________

I hope Roxor is able to license some Eurobeat from Avex, because we need more Eurobeat. Srsly.
And I hope that Pete's Diskowarp songs get licensed as well. Specifically "In The Groove" and "Less Than Three". _________________
