Tips? (those dam freeze arrows + arrows either side allways get me) |
My advice, quit bar raping. I'm not saying this because I'm anti bar, because that would be hypocritical. It's just a proven fact that you'll be better off by not using the bar and finding your center of balance first. It's worked for all of my friends and myself. You'll pick up crossovers quicker, too. _________________

Ive been playing for about a year now, but Ive seen the most improvement the past 3 weeks because all I play now is random bemani or random all on heavy with no option fixing(i.e. adding x1.5 or x2). Even though I loose once in a while on that(I hate when I get leading cyber*) I still can see the improvement because I get to read the arrows better and get less greats.
I know this because I can now pass both "jam jam reggae" without option fixing on heavy pretty easy, though Im still working on the slower version of orion.
*Is it me or is leading cyber really hard to read ...so deep is much easier
The only ten footer I can pass right now is sakura(wow is this easy), I dont mind when I get max 300 or the non-oni paranoia survivor songs on random, I can get through the beggining and middle of them quite easy, but I loose in the end, the're fun |

That's completely understandable. The end of the Paranoia Survvors are way harder than any other part of the song. Max 300's end is necessarily harder, but it takes a lot of stamina, so you're probably a little tired towards the end.
P.S. Leading Cyber is tricky. Play through it a few times on x1.5 or x2 and you'll be comfortable playing it x1 soon _________________

For me there are 2 problems keeping me from getting better.
first is the close together arrows, like on bag or twilight zone. is there anyway to make it easier to read those with out speeding up the song. Is there a specific pattern in the colors or something?
second would have to be the fast double arrows like on drop out(heavy) and and the end of Legend of Max(standard). im pretty good at reading fast arrows, but with so little time in between each jump.
I know above all is to just practice, practice, and practice but has anyone found any methods that can assist in learning these. i can pretty much beat any Heavy song with an A or B unless they have one of these two things in excess. |

When Solo is on, there is a pattern to the arrows. Orange-ish yellow arrows are on the quarter note lines, blue arrows are on the 8th note lines, purplish pink arrows are on the 16th note lines, and dark purple arrows are on the 32nd note lines (very few of these in the entire game). Someone correct me if I got any of these wrong.

This is kind of a difficult skill to improve. I just learned them by playing TLoM standard over and over again until I could nail the jumps. It usually helps to look the step charts and do the jumps, without the music, at your own speed. If you're having problems reading jumps, I would recommend playing Dynamite Rave standard for practice. |

I know this is gonna sound nitpicky, and it kinda is, but there are currently no 32nd notes in DDR. THe notes you're talking about are 24th notes. I'm a drummer, I know what I'm talking about. Take Bag for example with the weird "32nd" note rhythms. Listen to the melody and count the notes per beat, if you get six notes per beat instead of 8, dont freak out. Bag is really streams of uber triplets or 1/16 triplets in music terms. Same with the "jumps" in Tsugaru. _________________

I knew there was that triplet dilemma, but I always thought Tsugaru had 32nd note gallops...you learn something new everyday. Well you don't have to worry about them that much anyway, Tsugaru and bag are the only songs I can think of off the top of head. |

The easiest Heavy song I can think of is Cutie Chaser (Morning Mix). Other easy songs are Dream a Dream, Don't Clock Me , Bad Routine, Forever Sunshine, and Keep On Liftin'.
5.1.1 is really easy once you learn the rhythm. _________________

The rhythm isn't the problem, the retarded footwork is. I wouldn't recommend this to someone starting out on heavy. |

You're both right, in a way. Playing either game will improve your DDR skills. However, ITG will likely improve them faster because the songs are generally longer (your stamina will improve more quickly) and because ITG has a "Fantastic" step rating (approximately equal to a Marvellous, from my understanding), which will help you get more Perfects on DDR. _________________
