Just wondering, what's the logic behind the "don't bump old topics" rule?

Another thing, I have a quote in my sig. When I go to edit my profile, it sticks a bunch of characters in the quote tag - for example, "[quote:0a1506ca40="Cutriss"]". A bug, perhaps?

On a side note: in the last two days, I've seen three flamers/spammers on these boards and you quickly deleted their posts and banned them. You guys are fast! thumb.gif

the dont bump old topics rule is to keep epopel form bumping pointless old threads with ppointless new posts (which is what almost all the posts and threads here are) if you ahve osmething real to contribute and the old thread is still pertinat then yoru more than welcome to bump

thats just you useing the quote tag wrong

No, that's an artifact of how phpBB works.

Thanks for the replies. I have another question: what causes double posting? I've seen others do it, but it's never happened to me.

If someone hits submit a second time while their post is already submitting, sometimes it will register as two requests for submission and will cause a double post.

We have a post timer that is supposed to monitor and not allow posts within 60 seconds of each other (mostly a spammer defense), but sometimes the double-submit double posts sneak through.
