I got a question for you. HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET THE THING TO WORK frust.gif ? I am doing exactly what you told me to do and all I see is a black screen that quickly flashes a thing out and then nothing happens. A program doesen't pop up or anything. The screen doesen't even last 1 second(A.K.A. Not enough time to get the file or anything out). I am using a Windows XP(in case you wanted that info). Please e-mail me if you know how to work this thing because obviasly you know to work it and I don't cuze the instructions are crap. My e-mail address is:

...

Run from a command prompt. Press WindowsKey+R (or go in to start -> run) and type cmd. Navigate to the Dancing Monkeys folder and go.

I finally got it to work. The steps aren't great and it is a very easy 7 footer but the timing is perfect.

I'm Confused. How can you all get it to work but I can't? It Just keeps on saying that it couldn't find it. Its unziped and in its own file but it just won't work. I keep on trying the run program and that won't work. E19.gif Can someone give me an example of what I must put in the run(black box) to make the program run. Exactly how it should go in please.

Don't ever do that. NEVER EVER bump a thread just to bump a thread. That is postwhoring. You can get warning points for that.

People look at the thread sometimes. They only post when they need to get a bug fixed.

Dancing Monkeys is a terrible way to make steps. What ever happened to working hard to make a simfile? People always trying to take shortcuts ends up in poopy quality simfiles coming out more and more everyday. Use notepad or something lol. It's how all the cool kids used to do it.

I still use notepad. But I'll admit, it's a much better way of getting an accurate gap/bpm read on most songs (at least initially) than ol-fashioned "trial and error". XD Besides, most peeps just make Maniac steps anyways. ~_~

When I first found it, I was quite impressed with the Dancing Monkeys project and I have used it on numerous songs. And while (as others have said) the steps themselves aren't particularly imaginative, the program finds the BPM and Gap to just about any given song beautifully. Given the amount of system resources that it requires I usually like to run it at night, but I can only do one song at a time, and while there is a front end available for those not so proficient in DOS commands, I found that it was not very impressive and errored out on me when I tried to use it (which could have been my own fault, we'll never know). So I decided to write my own front end for Dancing Monkeys, and added the ability to queue up songs to run one after the other. FYI, I wrote this app in VB.NET, and it requires the .NET 2.0 framework to run.

I think that given this apps ability to queue up songs to run consecutively, it can be a useful tool for everyone, weather or not you know your way around a DOS prompt.

you can download the (very small at 56KB) app from http://home.comcast.net/~markransom

Please let me know if you run into any errors with this app and I will attempt to address them.

I can be reached at markransom(at)comcast.net

I hate DDR sims.
Sorry, I just hate 'em.
I am all KeyBoard and whenever I make a sim I make it using tutorials and notepad.

PS: Dancing Monkeys sucks.
