Even while playing songs I know the beats and sound to.

I was at the CyberHub in PA (bm The Final) yesterday, and, god damn...

The timing...is fucked the hell up.

;_;

Someone go there and tell me if it's the machine or if they're all like that.

Cause..if they are...*barfs*

Stepmania and Beatmania have different timing windows.

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

Stepmania's timing windows are huge. Like if you played Quasar on 9th AC, that's still be harder than SM's timing windows.

Also, the whole "more buttons+turntable" thing doesn't help.

What got me when going from BM98 to a real Beatmania system was how far apart the keys were!

The dickfaced answer?

Because Stepmania isn't Beatmania.

Just because you can play platform games with godly timing doesn't make you better at another platform game...it'll make it easier to learn, but not anywhere close to mastering.

And yeah, the timing thing is kind of a big difference too.

Do ALL bm games have that small of a timing window, or is it just The Final/bm/IIDX?

BM I and III are EXTREMELY stiff with the timing in almost every version. IIDX is positively easy by comparison, but it's still a hell of a lot stricter than DDR or SM.

Beatmania I, it's not that strict. It's also dependant on song and Mix. Let's take Turning the Motor Over on BMCM2, the JG window is huge. Then take another song, say Feel the Light on BM 6th, to me, that song would feel a lot closer to BMIII than some other songs on other Beatmanias.

Yeah, the earlier games were all over the board with timing. But in general, any version that has flashing Greats is usually pretty consistently tough. Or tougher. I'm looking at you, Nine Seconds and Acid Bomb from Complete Mix. How I love getting Bads for stuff that would be a Great in IIDX.

Not true. IIDX is so much tighter with timing than BM.

Case in point. Play R3 on BM 5th, then go play it on IIDX.

I find StepMania having a easier timing window than any beatmania games. Hell.. I'm having hard time passing 7k 6 star songs with the cs styles.

But 5th Mix doesn't have flashing Great unless you play Expert mode, as I recall. And everything from Core Remix onward is DEFINITELY more strict than IIDX.
