For Danceatron:
I STARTED OUT with HS2 because i had lots of SM experience before i picked IIDX up. Until very recently, I played with HS4 on anything under 200 bpm. Whats really happening is that you are sacrificing mental control and using reflexes to get things done. Having things appear to your eyes one thing at a time helps you understand whats going on. When you start playing cluttered another notecharts, you want to be able to look ahead a little so you can prepare for something wierd or difficult.
Towel is a pretty cool idea that works really well. Just take something that will cover a little of the screen and it acts like HS without things auctually going fast. Experiment with a towel a little on your own, you'll find that it really helps! I now use HS2-3 and a little bit of towel and am quite noticably better than i was using HS4. Really, without any HS things are just too mashed together. _________________

In order to demonstrate how easy B4U 7k is, I will state that I passed it two days ago (82%! *rock*) in 6th Style, and then state some other accomplishments and failures to go with it.
-One handed player
-Cannot pass lower world or No. 13 L7 in 9th, or stoic L7 for that matter
-Can barely pass Nebula Grasper L7 and Indigo Vision 7k
-Can only pass a scattered handful of regular 7 songs, usually anything with a simple ending and no bullshit triple chords (1+3+6 can suck my balls)
-Cannot pass any regular 7 on 6th Style, where I passed B4U
-Cannot *touch* Love Love Shine 7k to save my life
-My first flashing 7 Another on Hard in 9th Style will probably be PSM... oops
Incidentally, upon thinking about it, B4U has 1+3+6, but I'm able to do this "bounce" thing where I hit 1+3 and then lunge at 6 for the Good. It helps that whenever this happens, there isn't anything IMMEDIATELY after it, so... This is also how I managed to scrape through Burning Up For You [A], once. But yeah, bullshit triple chords suck. :( I really like 1+4+6. Why can't there be more love for 1+4+6?
Also, the thing I like about 6th Style's 7's is that they're (usually) CONSISTANTLY dickheaded the whole way through. 9th Style's start out like 5 star L7's in some cases right up through until the last like three measures, where they go apeshit crazy on me. Genom Screams, for instance. :p Also, i feel... [A] can kiss my buttocks as well. I hope the bullshit ending trend subsides with 10th, because I'd really like to start playing songs that don't ramp up in difficulty as they go.

PSM is just a regular 7.

Nope, not changing anytime soon. it's interesting to see the few songs that are hard, but have stupidly easy endings, see Inazuma and No. 13.
(I'd add Sasoribi to that list.... but we all know the BS factor extends throughout the song.) |

You'll get used to 1+3+6 soon enough.
Anything with a 5+6 are the hardest chords to do one handed. |

Alright. time for me to jump in on the discussion here, at long last, since I've had my IIDX official controller for about a month.
I've been playing on a Dual Shock fairly regularly for a year now, and I wasn't a bad player. I have now started to play with the OC, and find some songs RIDICULOUSLY different to play, mostly because of the scratching.
Now, I'm almost up to where I was with the Dual shock, having passed all 7k songs up to 7 difficulty, and about 2/3rds of the flashing 7s. I can't for the life of me, however, TOUCH a song I OWNED on DS. Halfway of Promise (A) used to be my little reward at the end of a DS session. It was challenging, but not TOO challenging.
Now, however, I struggle GREATLY with the ending. I can't, for the life of me, get the timing for the scratches down, which is weird, because I always do well on Checking You Out and Please Don't Go.
Anybody have advice on the timing of the scratches? Should I try to play without the music, watch it on autoplay, what? I can't master it, at all.
The other songs I have problems with, like moon_child, I'm assuming will come with practice, but this one just pisses the hell out of me, because I'm so close to where I used to be in terms of songs passed.
So, any advice? |

1. To get your first 7 star on 6th Style do Route 80's. Yeah it isn't too bad but at least you can knock one item off your list. I play one-handed keys as well and it is one of the 15 or so 7's that I can do.
2. No. 13 isn't too bad actually on L7. Yes it is hard, but I don't think it is anywhere near as difficult as Lower World on L7. The key for me was not being afraid to keymash a little bit during the drills and get a few goods. I physically can't do the 1+7, 3+5, 1+7, etc. 16th notes at the beginning but I try my best. I think I played it about 6 or so times before passing it with a B.
3. The hard ending thing is really apparent in a number of songs. I knew Bad Boy Bass on 7K was going to be a nightmare at the end because it seemed like a 4* all the way through the halfway mark and I knew Konami wouldn't just give a song a 7* rating for nothing. Atomic Age is another one that comes to mind. On the other hand, you have stuff like PSM that is hard at the beginning but becomes mind numbingly easily at the end. |

Quote: | Hey, instead of starting a new thread, I figured I'd ask this here. Can someone link me to or post a picture of a crystal clear IIDX RED machine? I've been searching the net for like an hour but I just can't find one, only like 2 crappy looking pics. Thanks in advance :-) |
not sure if i should be asking this or something since what im requesting is a bit more ..wanting i guess ::shrug:: but since he asked for some pics and got some i was wondering if someone had any links to vids of people getting a 10th or RED extra stage (1st samurai, genocide) and playing them. Idk i just really wanna see what the song select menu is like and the song. x.x; |

Remember that some things are easier for others. I passed Colors 7k before murmur twins. _________________

Still haven't managed to beat Halfway of Promise (A), buuuuuuut....
I beat No. 13 7k today! Yaaaaay!
I know that notecount really has nothing to do with it, but I'm still confused as to why I can't touch V, A or The Safari, but I can beat No. 13, Stoic and Take it Easy...
Oh well. The other accomplishment recently is that I AA'd my first flashing 7: Love <3 Shine. I still can't AAA a single song, even in L7, but I can AA flashing 7 star songs... Hmmm... Something's wrong with this picture.... |

Well at least the east coast got the latest IIDX for once.
I hope AI or some other arcade in southern california gets Happy Sky eventually, because it's soundtrack may just be my favorite IIDX soundtrack yet. So many songs I like and I won't get to play them for a long time it seems. |
