Ok. i think this will be a thread that either needs to be made a stickie or locked and dumped. but its the mods' choice, not mine. i have seen alot of "what is [x] song based on" threads and i thought maybe we could have everyone post a DDR song and what original song it is based on. it seems like a good idea, but everyone else may think otherwise. thanks.

1) IN BEFORE THE LOCK
2) What synthesia said.
3)Here's a list of what I know about songs which are "Based on" eachother:

Long Train Runnin' by Bus Stop is based on an old Doobie Brothers song called by the same name. It had the same chorus however, it didn't have the rap.

Let's Groove by Tips And Tricks VS. Wisdome is based on a classic Earth Wind and Fire song called Let's Groove. This remix only features the chorus of the classic song and omits the line "JUST MOOOOOOVE YOURSELF, AND GLUIDE LIKE A 737".

Kick the Can is based on a classical music piece usually refered to as the "Can Can song" or Orphous of the Underworld.

V by DJ TAKA is based on a Segment of a classical composer Vivaldi's song called "The Four Seasons". This segment was called "Winter".

A by DJ AMEURO I BELIEVE is a remake of a classical piece which I do not have the name of.

Kekuime(SP?) by TAKA+NAOKI is an old piano piece called "The Revolutionary Etude" Composed by Chopin.

The Tune of Dream A Dream is based on yet another classical piece called "Hall of the Mountain King". I do not have the original composer's name at this time but oh well.

King of the Mountain Hall (I may have transposed a few words of it, but you get the idea).

Edvard Greig composed Hall Of The Mountain King.
A is an original piece.
I don't know what the MC Lyte thing is about, but the trumpet section in the chorus of Highs Off U come from the Frankie Vallie song Can't Take My Eyes Off You.

Sorry, A is an original composition, not based on any other song. It just uses scales that sound familiar to a lot of classical pieces which might make you think it's some classical song sped up.

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

It's not on any DDR games, although I can't speak for Dancing Stage (since you're from NZ).

Sakura is based on Japanese folk song Sakura

Tsugaru and Tsugaru Applemix are based on Tsugaru Jyongara bushi Tsugaru Applemix is more closely resemble original music.

Matsuri Japan is based on many Festival music and sound from Japan. Most noticeably Awa odori and Mikoshi matsuri.

Kick the can is Can Can song but as old Japanese, I remember it was used in commercial song for Cake shop back in 60’s with Teddy bears dancing.

Do Me became famous in Japan on TV comedy show in 70’s with Mustache Dance.

17 sai was pop song from back in 70’s

Odoru Ponpokorin was theme song for cartoon chibi maruko chan.

Insertion is based on something that I could get a warning point for saying/explaining.

Yep, from the show with the same name.

Do Me is originally from a Teddy Pendergrass song, I'm not sure what the hell "Mustache Dance" is.
