Oh it's quite true. We had to stop in the middle of our turn to let two littles ones play.
The weirdest thing about the person that made us get off, is that now when my friends and I go in (usually around five of us), she puts the machine on freeplay for us. o.o
But at the moment, there IS no machine there. They're getting a new, supposedly legit, extreme machine. (We used to have a megamix.) |

maybe because she realized what she did was illegal. _________________

Considering the fact that at the time of the crazy mothers, we weren't paying for the games (Wednesday night= free game night. - but it soon didn't apply to DDR BECAUSE of the crazy mothers), they really could say get off the machine whenever they wanted to.
I think management was just tired of hearing people complain about the teenagers. (Someone even complained saying that I picked their kid up off the machine and told them never to play again. wtf? I friggin' teach the little kids how to play.) So to solve the problem, they just took DDR off of the free game list.
As the summer went on, fewer and fewer littles ones showed up, which resulted in the complaints almost completely stopping. DDR is technically still not supposed to go onto freeplay on Wednesdays (if it were still there) but one particular girl will put it onto freeplay for my friends and I when we show up.
..the fact that I found her lost purse and taught her how to play DDR as well probably didn't hurt either.. |

Ok... there is this little kid that comes EVERY weekend... mabye like 10 years old... and he puts his token up to reserve the next play. That's all good, I do that too, but then he walks away.... Then after my friends have started another game already and are starting the second song, this kid will randomly pop up and say "hey my token was there! im telling the manager!" so he does... the manager comes up and says "ok be nice to him guys, let him play next" and then HE WALKS AWAY AGAIN! it makes me soooo mad... we have to sit and wait for him to get back from the food court or wherever the hell hes going.... ugh...
and also when someone says "im freestyling... you can't play on the 2nd player, pad cause i want people to see me.... " like even when i had my token up to play versus...... I haven't been playing in the arcade long, but I think I know the process pretty well by now.... |

God i hate little kids so much. I was at the arcade today and a third of the way through So Deep heavy when a little kid walked up to me and started GRABBING MY LEGS. granted, he couldnt really get a hold of them to make me fall or anything but it was enough to screw me up, and have me shout "WHAT THE F**K??" i kinda "hit" his arms (tried to brush them away really fast) and of course nearly ended up hitting the kid lightly out of anger (unintentional, and i thought it was some other slightly older kid that comes there all the time, i didnt know this was a really little kid) and of course his mother was standing right there, and what followed was an awkward 10 seconds as we all just sat there looking at me, as if i was some kind of monster for nearly accidentaly hitting a kid. I was thinking to myself "god just please get out of here people", luckily they just walked off and i told one of the arcade workers that some kid grabbed at my legs, he gave me the next game free. _________________

Well there was this one time when I was playing a song on standard, I was almost done with the song and I was on the road of AA'ing, then this tall, young kid gets up on the machine and goes across the pad to get to the other side. He totally messed up my combo and my life bar, because he didn't run across, he walked. He couldn't just walk around the machine. I ended up getting a B on PSM. _________________

*new to forums* Some of the things that bother me have probably been mentioned plenty of times but *shrugz* :
1) People who stand way to close! Be it either people who have never played before and are curious about it or people waiting to jump up an d try as soon as I'm done. Usually after each song I have to turn and ask the watcher to get off the bar. Finally someone complained about it and the arcade place put a white tape line about 2 feet (or so) around the pad so as to keep people out.
2) Stompers! I mean I understand when poeple have never played before and they think the harder they push the better it reacts but gah when they put all their weight into a stomp on every arrow on beginner or even light! Drives me crazy! I usually tell them, "Ya know, it senses the exact same if you tap it as if you stomp it. Plus stomping damages that sensor."
3) Braggers! Everyone has seen this guy (or girl) once before. The kind of person that comes up watches how you do and says, "Pff, I can pass that song on heavy, reverse, boost, hidden, and dark at 3x." *note I'm on higher levels of standard* Or when they go to a competition and make fun of the light and standard levels saying, "This is stupid, why do thry even bother? I'm so much better than them, haha." I mean it's one thing to say you can do it, ya know good for you, but to smash someone elses ability is just down right unrespectable.
4) Those idiots that make fun of you by dancing all stupid, either by you or out of your sight. This one guy actually came up and did that next to me while I was playing, I so wanted to do a Bar Flare and kick him "accidentaly".
5) Comontaters (or however you spell it) people who are like, "Oh! he missed one, broke the combo, that's gotta suck!" *sigh* These people don't nessesarily drive me nuts, as much as just bother me. I don't point out others mess ups, though if I'm playing against a friend I tend to say when I broke my combo if it's in the upper hundreds.
And Finally 6) Rude DDR players. In my local arcade everyone respects everyone else (except for those braggers), but about a week ago I visited another arcade in another town, everyone there was so mean and rude to me. No one chatted with me before I went on, then when I did I heard comments like, "What, he's only on standard? Pathetic." and, "I hate waiting on standards and lights, they need like a separate machine." It really affected (effected) my game and I didn't do my best. Regardless I did 1 game of three songs and on the last song (can't remember) there was a left and right freeze as the last step; so I flipped towards them all, landed the arrows, flipped them all off, grabbed my stuff, and walked out. |

dont get me started on this one!!!!lol but when i go to this arcade-there is this, like what, 6th grader who always tries to shadow the stupid moves-ugh i wanna kill him
also:
people who use the bars-its just wrong
people who are goths and try to be all cool by pretending to be an all-star
when they end up getting an E on it
people who leave trash on the cupboards-people stick gum-grody
lets see-- stupid beginners-no affence you have to start somewhere- that
always try to do standard or even light on one of the cheesiest songs |

If someone admits it's their first time playing, they will always select We Will Rock You.
Also, the beginner players have a habit of putting so much force onto an arrow that the sound from hitting it is louder than the music.
There's some places that you're playing a hard song and these little children come buzzing around the machine and almost get flattened, therefore ruining my combo. |

It sort of makes me chuckle that you hate rude people, but you sunk down to their level and flipped them off and were a total rude buttocks back to them. You might want to think about that next time. _________________

My list is pretty small when it comes to things that make me angry.
- Food/drink/property being left on the machine
Having to scrape a caramel apple off the side of the screen is disgusting, and the sugar from funnel cakes makes the pad way slippery. And then you have those people that if you try to move their stuff over just a little, to make room for your stuff, they doggy at you.
- Water/something sticky on the pads
That's really all that needs to be said
- People playing barefoot
So gross. If you were dumb enough to wear flipflops to the arcade, then deal with the fact that you're gonna trip and break your ankle if you attempt to dance in them.
- People tapping the pads or walking across the pads during gameplay
Especially if you're just catching your breath beside the machine, and they come up and start bouncing around, pushing buttons on the screen, or just standing there staring
- Those people who don't understandd what a coinline or even a line are
You'll point out your marker in the line, and they just look at you like an idiot, put their coins in quickly and hit the start button. Or the people that shove you out the way to put their coins in.
- People that try and talk to you/touch you while you're playing
My friends are guilty of this, having a habit of coming up behind you and giving you a hug really quickly if they've just arrived. I don't mind that so much, because I know them and am free to kick their asses if they mess me up, but people coming up to tug on my shirt and ask me where some game is... go away.
- Broken pads. Enough said there too.
Maybe it's because I'm not completely on Heavy yet that I don't have a bar up my buttocks, but I don't really have a lot of dislikes. I'll gripe for a few minutes about the above things, but then fix whatever I can and move on.
I have no problem with 'bar raping' on Heavy songs, especially if it's your 3rd or 4th song. Bar raping on Beginner, Light, and some Standard though is pretty pointless.
I have no problem with people shadowing, as long as they stay on beat, and even if they don't, as long as they aren't, ya know, 17 steps behind, I'm good. As a matter of fact, I learned to play DDR by shadowing. Skipped Beginner and Light mode because no one in the arcade I go to minds shadowing, even those Nonstop or Challenge players. A few of them, for instance, will let me shadow, or play Versus with them if I'm trying to learn a new song and don't want to fail it.
I have noticed a difference in arcades though, when you go to a different one. There are about 25 of us that have no problems sharing the machine at our arcade between us, as well as with anyone coming in. Someone not from our group is usually allowed to play after the current player (even if it's just cause we want to get them to play and then get out of there) and we don't mind being asked to help teach people to play. That means we don't have to listen to them stomp around and suck at it. We keep our machine clean, ask others to keep it clean, and hound management if the pad is broken, though they can't seem to keep it fixed lately. The other day however, two of us went to a new arcade since ours was closed for the day, and there was said to be a DDR machine there. We were very put off by the atmosphere. Sure, the game was cheaper than at our arcade, and you got 4 songs instead of 3, but the people there were horrid, and reminded me of some of you in here. They watched 'their' game like a hawk, and if you weren't playing all your songs on Heavy and getting an A or better, they didn't think you were good enough to play. They'd laugh at the people playing on Light, start conversations with you while playing, pretend there wasn't a coin line and act like they knew who was supposed to be going when, and would sit there and brag loudly about what songs they were best at or how well they usually did on the song you just performed. They'd clump all their chairs together and make sure you knew they were discussing you, would leave all their crap around the machine so you had to wade through bookbags and drinks to get to it, and if you were female, like I am, the guys would talk extremely loudly about your assets and faults, and then discuss with each other, once again loudly, exactly how they'd like to bang you.
Since my friend is only on Light mode, because he likes Light mode, I didn't appreciate having to sit there and listen to them talk poopy. I can ignore comments being made about me, but I love my friends and am very protective. When I played, I had A'd Butterfly, which is easy so that doesn't count, but had made B's on Holic, Saints Go Marching, and A. Like I said, I'm not that good yet, since I've only been playing this summer, don't have any of the home versions, and only get to go to my arcade on weekends, due to distance. Therefore, I didn't appreciate them acting like they were the poopy just because my friend and I weren't as good as them. Since they were mostly male as well, they made comments about how I should be playing a more girly game, and that it was ok that I couldn't dance that well, I was probably better in bed.
My friends and I play for fun because we enjoy the game, not because we like shoving scores in people's faces.
Sorry for the rant, but I do find it sad that the people can change so drastically within 30 miles of each other. _________________

New to the forum, but not to DDR. I also have some stuff I hate; just a short list though.
1) People who stomp on the pad, especially ones who use all their weight. And I don't have a problem with bar raping but I do find it annoying when people bar rape on beginner or light yet still stomps on the pad.
2) People who brag, especially when they themselves aren't that good. If you're gonna brag, at least make sure you're good enough to back it up. The good thing about my arcade is that all of the great players never brag about their skills.
3) People who spit their gum on the pads. I found chewing gum on the pads on two separate occasions, both times they've already been stepped on and turned black. One of those times it didn't cause much of a problem, the other time I didn't notice it at first since I didn't look at the pad before starting to play. After I started playing my shoe just started to stick, at first I thought my shoelace came untied but then I realized it was just sticking to the gum. It got to the point where I just walked off the pad.
That's about it that I can think of right now. |

This is truly appalling. That level of rudeness sounds extreme enough to warrant complaining to arcade management. No one should have to put up with that. |
