i heard u have to put plywood under your flux to keep it from cracked if your playing on carpet. would using a 40inch by 40inch piece of particle board work just as fine as plywood? _________________

This seems to be the best ps2-USB adapter to use with the Cobalt Flux and Stepmania.
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=23&products_id=4532&
It's a bit pricy but there's no lag at all and there are no special drivers needed as far as i can tell, I just plugged it in and started playing. _________________

Looks pretty hot, but my favourite one is the Super Dual Box, as it allows for two mats at once =)
I would like that one for the Dreamcast ability though =D |

Just got mine today and it's pretty sweet.
-Good shipping. Ordered on the 8th, shipped on the 13th, delivered on the twentieth.
-Has a very good feel to it. I got the black arcade mod and it is a big improvement. However, the arrow panels have a kind of soft feeling to them, unlike the arcade. This bothered me, but I think I'll get over it.
-Sensitivity is pretty good. I'm getting a few misses and boos that I shouldn't be, but I think it's because I haven't turned off the non-arrow buttons. Not quite as sensitive as my homepads.
-I just played max300 heavy on it a few times straight out of the box, and my grades are about the same as the arcade. However, it slides around on non-carpet surfaces, and the stickers they include don't help much. I'll probably just get something to put between it and the floor.
-My biggest complaint, of course, is the price. $411 total is really steep, even for something that is bound to last a long time. I still reccomend building your own pad before spending this kind of money.
Overall, this is a good pad. Keep in mind, my standards are elevated, since I've built about a dozen homepads, half of which outperform the CF (but require a decent amount of maintanance). Once again, I only recommend buying this if for some reason you can't build a homepad. It's just too damn expensive.
I'll post any problems/additional comments as the come. |

what do u mean by shag carpeting? will particle board work fine? i heard some ppls use plywood. but i have a 40 by 40 inch piece of particle board in my garage. if particle board doesnt work, where should i get the foam, from ignition pads? _________________

Shag Capeting- "A rug with a thick rough pile." (Dictionary.com, only used the definition for shag)
CFs are fine on most carpets; you should only worry if the area you play at has is very thick, and even with so much weight on it may cause the pad to not lay flat.
Paticleboard should work as should anything that just keeps the pad level. |

I just recentally moved my Cobalt Flux to a diffrent room. And the carpet is thicker, and it wasn't level. So I bought one of those chair mats for sliding chairs around to level it out. Worst idea ever. Sure the pad doesn't feel like its bowing and about to crack in half anymore. But it's sliding all over the place. Time to go to Home Depot for plywood. If that doesn't work I will rip the carpet up. |

Uh, I used to use chair mats with my CFs and I swear they're actually the best idea ever. Get some with the "teeth" that grip into the carpet, get some strong Velcro to attach them to the CF's, and you're set. _________________

But wouldn't it be better to buy it from www.cobaltflux.com and get the 6 months warranty. You know for something that may happen to the pad. _________________

playing on thick long "shag" carpeting is the easiest way for it to break but is easly preventable, also pouring juice or doing somthing to intentionally to break it would break it. but yeah people have had it break but it was still waranty so they paid 40 bucks for shipping and got it back in mint condition |

i love the kit. i got my 2 cf's with 2 black arcade mods. anyway you unscrew the middle and four corner banels and depending on which one you order, is how you install it. it makes it feel 10000 times better then arcade. |

yay i finally ordered one of these after going through a crappy RO metal pad. Ive had to play on control the last few months (and it actually did help me get better at arcade play for some reason). Nothing can beat the arcade but im hoping this comes close _________________
