1) I have no idea. Alpha1337's guide is down so I dunno where you'd go. It's easier just to make one out of a cheap MadKat's controller, so do that instead.
2) The messages say stuff like "play x song" and if you do it you get an unlock faster. You can still get 100% of the unlocks without being able to read them, but not quite as quickly. _________________

Sorry; I misunderstood you. I thought you meant in general.
Anyway, there's a guy in Ft. Collins, Colorado that makes high-quality arcade-style Pop 'n' Controllers for $170 bucks a throw. It's pricey, but damn, are they well-made. You can PM him for details if you want. Last I checked, his DDRFreak name was Rathstar. _________________

Pop'n Mail in 11 has to do with what song you need to play for a speedier unlock. Either Mimi or Nyami will send you an email about wherever they went travelling, and depending on that you choose a song. For example they were talking about somethingsomething soccer, so I played High School soccer and lo and behold, instant unlock. The first line has something to do with the country they're in n_n
0rion: no problem n_n
Larrikin: HUGE thanks. I figured it'd be something retarded like that. Are there more songs available in challenge on AC?
Also, as bemanistyle is down, I'm having trouble locating Pop'n Music machines in Maui. Does anyone know of a good resource to find those? I know they exist, but the machine listings here don't list it... _________________

Anyone want to tackle this one?
I just aquired Pop'n Best Hits, which to my stunned and utter astonishment, is a CD game. Now, I have a CD bootdisc, and it even works, as DDR Max JP will attest to, but Best Hits won't run. I tried normal boot (screen hangs) and special boot (PS2 asks me to put a PS2 format game in and to not fuck it up this time). And although I got it from eBay, the disc looks flawless (and my Pop'n 7 and IIDX 5th that also came from eBay work fine- and my DVD bootdisc is in MUCH worse shape than my CD). I don't want to scream at the eBay guy if the game is fine and my PS2 is just PMSing over this one particular instance, but I also want to play the game itself at some point. Does it take an abnormally long time to load up, or anything? I'm gonna try getting one of my friends to try it on his before I decide anything, I just need to know if it's a special case.

It should work fine...I would try ripping the CD and changing it to a DVD game and re-burning it. That might work. _________________

Already anounced? Pop 'n 11 CS just came out. Or does it have something to do with pop n 13 coming out now? When does it come out in 2006?
Even so, I look forward to some of the songs, especially the unlockable songs from the arcade version, since they sound more interesting than most of the default ones. |

damn.... i want to be in japan too...
I like this pick 3 old songs thing they've got going on the CS webpage
1) song that made you love pop'n
2) song the relaxes you
3) song you want to dance to
im particularly intrigued by the third song as it will be included in DDR Strike
if it ends up benig an interesting one i might have to get [a copy of] ddr strike... _________________

They had questionarres like this at TGS, it looks like they want to make it a really good one from the amount of input that they're getting from the gamers.
DDR strike seems a bit tame by the standards set before it... and it has that horrific thing from the festival where you have to pick option if you want speed mods, you can't just hold circle =/ |

A question from left field:
How many Sailor Moon-esque songs have there been in Popn since its inception? Curiosity kills cats I know but then I'm not a cat.
FYI I met my wife watching Sailor Moon and I'd still be watching new episodes if they had any here. I understand that the ending theme song was made for Popn 11 I think? _________________

Moonlight Densetsu (Seasons 1-4 Opening) was in Animelo and 11, as well as a MIDI version in Animelo GB. Sailor Stars Song was in Animelo 2. |

Thank you both very much for that. Perhaps with the release of BM in NA then maybe Pop'n will eventually see a release here too??

Actually I think that if BMUSA does well there will be a much higher chance of Pop'n being released than 1/100. I think that BMUSA may start the whole bemani thing for the US on a much larger scale. Sure DDR is already popular, but as far as the public is concerned that is pretty much it. I think that if BM sells well, it could be jumping block for Pop'n, DM, GF and other games that we love... hopefully the Taiko Drum Master was a false start eh?
Heres to hoping! |
