I'm trying to figure out how to make a song name red or how to not make it red. I tried everything I could find in the step editor, can somebody help me out with this?

A stepfile is red if it has only heavy mode, from what I've seen.

Sorry to disappoint, but the red-lettered Legend of Max that I have
has Beginner, Light, Standard, and Heavy modes. I'm not trying to
maliciously squash that teory, but that's the way it is.

I really don't have any other leads.

AHHHH, if you are talking like Max300,maxx unlimited,the legend of max,etc. how there names are red, all you need to do is make heavy steps and put its stars or feet or difficulty on 10, to do that go to edit sync songs, then choose your song, then press escape enter the first thing you see edit prefences or something like that then put the meter on 10 then your done : )

If a file has a rating of 10 or higher on beginner, light, standard, or heavy modes, it shows up red. If it's on challenge or edit mode, it won't be red.

And it still counts even if it's only a 10 on Double -- for example, Genom Screams shows up red even when you're in Single, despite only being a 10 on Double Heavy.

Quoted for truth and posterity. I believe there is also a setting to turn this effect off, if you should ever desire to do so.

I don't remember seeing a setting for it anywhere, but it'd probably be pretty simple to turn it off by making a small edit somewhere to the metrics of the theme you're using. Ask somebody who knows how theme metrics work.

Just edit this part of the theme metrics:
Code:
[SongManager]
NumGroupColors=7
GroupColor1=0.8,0.1,0.6,1   // pink
GroupColor2=0.6,0.4,0.8,1   // purple
GroupColor3=0.0,0.4,0.8,1   // sky blue
GroupColor4=0.0,0.6,0.6,1   // sea green
GroupColor5=0.1,0.7,0.3,1   // green
GroupColor6=0.8,0.6,0.0,1   // orange
GroupColor7=1.0,0.3,0.3,1   // light red
BeginnerColor=0.0,0.9,1,1   // light blue
EasyColor=0.9,0.9,0,1      // yellow
MediumColor=1,0.1,0.1,1      // light red
HardColor=0.2,1,0.2,1      // light green
ChallengeColor=0.2,0.6,1.0,1   // blue
EditColor=0.8,0.8,0.8,1      // gray
ExtraColor=1.0,0.0,0.0,1.0   // red
ExtraColorMeter=10

Just change the ExtraColorMeter laugh.gif
