its all about perfecting routines to every last drop, that you do NOT need the charachter, you can match the video and you can have arrows on stealth/180 mode even.

Yes, freestyle is fun, but the whole POINT of para para paradise is to learn para para routines.

im sure it's fun to learn routines but what's the point of just copying other peoples routines? why not make up your own? i mean, is para para dancing all about copying other peoples routines? where's your creativity people?! i was at pinnball pete's and while i was playing freestyle mode, this guy that knew a lot of routines thought i was doing a routine that he just didn't know, but i was just going with the flow! it's more of a challenge, but it's so much more fun!

It finally came. And thanks to that Stepmania hack, I'm happier than ever.

*Hugs the new PPP controller*

*jealous* is it working nicely? and what do you do about sim files? I'd make some but arrow charts are impossible to come by except for the two i think JVMN mentioned, but even those might be hard to get. it's easy enough to get the ones for the routines from the videos, but freestylers(yes, both of you) are outta luck i guess....any suggestions?

i still keep lauging about that girl playing PPP with her feet

Whoa...I've been out of it for a while. A StepMania hack for the PPP Controller? Awesome. <3

I noticed the website with the files. Which ones are needed to get Stepmania RC3 working with the PPP controller?

well last fall I made a few PPP files for SM based on their official routines for songs like Mark Farina & Ken Martin - Hey You Boy, Franz Tornado - Bazoocow, Time All Stars - 150 & JImmy Bravo - Mazinger Go!.
I guess I can now make one for Flash Man - Flash In The Night.

I have a question that's actually about Dance Maniax, but it's related, so I hope it's okay if I ask it here.

Now, obviously, PPP is based on real-life Para Para dancing, but is Dance Maniax also based on Para Para dancing? I'd played Dance Maniax a couple times before, and always tried to actually dance (as I do on all dancing games), but I never really made a connection to any real dance form until I was at an arcade with a Dance Maniax machine yesterday. There was this Japanese fellow there who was dancing quite skillfully & artistically with the Dance Maniax machine, and although I don't know much about Para Para dancing, that's sure what it looked like he was doing.

So, even though Dance Maniax is very different technically from Para Para Paradise, is it another game that's also based on Para Para dancing, just game-ized in a different way?

Para Para Paradise is based on para para dancing, and if you have ever seen a para para video, PPP 2nd Mix or a PPP with DVD cabinet, you would see that it is nothing like para para dancing.
Para Para has more to do with your whole arms going everywhere in that 5 or so arrow area. DMX is just going up and down sensors. Yes you can dance with it, but DMX has no routine, and is nothing like PPP.
PPP's routines are based off of velfarre, twinstar and Avex's choriography.

Avex doesn't choreograph songs and Twinstar closed in 2003... The choreography is now down by velfarre, 9LoveJ and Starfire. And DanceManiaX isn't based on any type of dance.

But the fellow I saw at the Dance Maniax machine at the arcade genuinely seemed to be Para Para dancing, and doing it very well. He also full-comboed pretty much every single song he did. Is it just a coincidence that you can full-combo everything on Dance Maniax by Para Para dancing the right way, or is it just a coincidence? It was exactly like I've seen in the couple of real Para Para videos I've seen.

Yes you can do parapara on a DMX machine but the game is not based on parapara, and the record the official routines for the Happy Paradise songs on DMX dont go with the scrolling notes. So they would have to be original routines for them, Hell I mad a half routine for Meet My Friend lol

i'm glad to see there are other dance maniax players out there! happy.gif

i'd love to see someone actually freestyle to dmx cause it seems like it would be kinda hard. you should tape it happy.gif

one of my problems with DMX is that i pretty much mastered it in 5 games, cause after playing ddr and ppp it was easy. and the songs don't get very difficult...

I hear what you're talking about on dmx there. I find it pretty easy; my goal now is to pass the Extra Stage, though.

Should this discussion be moved to the DMX thread?

Oh, it's working quite nicely. My only problem is that I suck. *Has trouble accurately waving his hands over the sensors. Also has no REAL dance skill whatsoever.*

there's a dmx thread? oh! cool!
well i thought that para para and dmx were kinda related since they both involve flapping your arms around and looking goofy happy.gif

and by the way zanshin....most people that play PPP, DDR, DMX, etc. don't have dance skills at all. the point isn't to actually dance, it's to try to dance so everyone can laugh at eachother on how stupid they look!

Hmm... your profile says you're in Oklahoma...

Were you in Tulsa on September 3rd at the Fun & Games?

If so, then I guess you were the person I was talking about... wow, small internet.
