Simple fact is, slide cards will damage your PS2. So don't bother.

The easiest solution is to have a TV that supports both PAL and NTSC and let the games run in their native video standard. This ensures playability (And don't give me any lip about you having a PAL PS/PS2. All PlayStations/PS2s are capable of PAL, NTSC, and VGA output). I remember seeing Gameshark codes that fixed the sync for PSone DDRs/DSs, but I don't recall seeing those type of codes for PS2 games.

I live in the UK and before I bought a Japanese PS2 had to use sync codes for all the PS1 mixes, its to do with the consoles and mains power supply not just T.V PAL games are slower than NTSC and so when playing say 4th MIX on a modded PAL machine the music will play at the correct speed however the steps will run at a slower speed and get more out of sync as the song proceeds, I'm not sure about the PS2 mixes needing sync codes (cos thats why I got the Jap PS2 E4.gif ) but I would assume they do.

Ive been thinking about getting this mod chip
http://www.modchipstore.com/PS2-Slide-Card-Swap-Magic-Combo-16158.html#detaileddescr
Anyone know how good it is? Give me your rating (1-10). If so, give me one that you'd prefer over that.

I'm sure what I said went over your head. E1.gif At least for my setup (HDLoader), if I load a PAL game, my PS2 will output a PAL signal. If I load an NTSC game, then it outputs an NTSC signal, and both are quite playable. And after playing with some PAL->NTSC conversion patches, I'd have to say that it's the MUSIC that starts too early rather than the steps and the videos simply being out of sync.

I hope you realize that the product on that page is NOT a modchip, but simply a slide card bundled with Swap Magic. Slide Cards have been known to damage PS2s as I've stated in an earlier post.

Has anybody here successfully got the Dancing Stage (PAL) Games to work perfectly? I recently bought a PsTwo pre-modded with one the best modchips money can buy, The Matrix Infinity. And everytime I put in DS Fever or DS Fusion, the screen always blinks. So I force an NTSC video fix, and then the blinking stops, but the music is off beat with the arrows. Anybody have any ideas?

Oh dear oh dear, what YOU said went over MY head huh!?! You've basically repeated what I said happens, I said the music will play at the correct speed, steps will not, you said -

The music plays at the correct speed, it doesn't start too early, the steps come in late as they are being played slower than they should by the poopy that is PAL, this has nothing to do with TV signals, its the machine used to play the game.
Believe me I know what I'm talking about about I've been importing for a looooooong time.

I wanna use codes for DDR Extreme Japan really badly. so how do you get the gameshark codes to work and when exactly do you put in the gameshark, swap magic disk, and the actual game itself? i have a fliptop BTW.

Your screen blinks because your PStwo is outputting in PAL instead of NTSC, mmkay? And when you enable the video fix, the steps/music are off because you're forcing the game to use a standard that it wasn't designed for. My suggestion is to either use a gameshark or similar device and enable sync fixes (If you can find them), otherwise get a TV that supports PAL -and- NTSC or get a capture card for your PC.

Have more people tried the PSTwo fix?

I have a new slimline ps2 and am wondering if it may be the best way to play imports. I would like more responses about people using it.

The PStwo fix is not a modchip, it just protects the system from certain causes of death known in the slim ps2s.

I know the PSTwo fix isn't a mod chip.

Acorrding to http://www.console.com/product_info.php/cPath/21/products_id/92

you use it to play imports similar to the old fliptops, or playing imports on PS One. So has anyone tried it? It looks like the easiest way to play imports on the slim ps2's and protects the warranty. I would like to know soon.

Since Play Asia is always out of stock on DDRMax 1 and 2 imports I was looking into purching them from Japan Video Games - www.japanvideogames.com . I was just wondering your opinions on them. Seeing as I never got my fliptop from the site that was origionally listed on the first page. I did however get a HD loader and a Fliptop from consoulesource and they worked just fine. And didn't rip me off. I know from experence Play Asia is a good place to buy. And after the incident with ps2fliptop.com or whatever it was called I feel it is safer to ask before I buy anything.

If sticking in the GS, selecting codes, and then inserting EXTREME JP CS doesn't work, then stick in the GS, select codes, then insert the Swap Magic disc, and then the EXTREME disc.

My bad superstar player, I thought you were referring to the board you solder into your PStwo's motherboard to stop crashing.

Yeah, that will work with swap discs.
