I'm using stepmania to make a simfile for some song that you've probably never heard of. :)
I understand how everything works, I have the correct BPM. In fact, I have most of the arrows placed. I have one problem though.. how do I get the song to stop?! The music stops and the arrows stop, but it just keeps on going forever, so I can't get my grade or my score.
Anyone know what to do here?

I'm guessing you made your file over another file, right? At the new BPM, it probably made the old arrow arrangement go on for quite awhile. The way to fix this is just to delete the .OLD files in the song folder, and any other step types (double, solo, etc) that may have been left over from the old song, and then select "reload songs/courses" in the options menu.

If you have another difficulty available for the song, make sure that the arrows stop at the same place (or general place) for each difficulty
