It would be awesome if DDR could become a sport that different schools compete in. Like a DDRer's Highschool League or something like that. Think it'll ever happen?
heh that would be cool, then i could ditch track and play ddr instead. I was thinking about starting a club or somethin like that There's an arcade a few miles away from my school so i was thinking about inviting some people to come after school on friday and making it a trend for people to hang out at the arcade on friday

Our middle school has an 'activity afternoon' every other month; crafts, DJ and food in the cafeteria, open gym, etc. We set up a couple of soft pads and PS2 in the media center which generated alot of interest. One of the secretaries in the office offered to be the club's sponsor so we take in and set up my equipment once a month in addition to the activity afternoons and get 15-20 people each time.

We found out one of the teachers does DDR for exercise and she made a pitch to the PTA to buy pads for the school. They agreed and we bought two ignitions. Hopefully they will buy a couple more this year 'cause it's better to get two lines of people going. All we need now are the PS2's and discs. We're hoping for donations.

Good luck with your club. E1.gif

I hope the Ignitions aren't the 3.0's :P

I'd like to get an actual machine in my school.

Okay, why not the 3.0? Is there something wrong with them? Hope not since they came today.

Check the Igniton 3.0 thread, no one was satisfied with them. All of ours had dead arrows, ghost steps, rapid fire steps, and some other things I don't remember.

http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=102781 Chech the last few pages, not many good reports.

Thanks for the info. on the new ignition, I think I'll try to keep the more accomplished players off it and on the CF pads.

Dude, if you care about stuff like that, then don't start a club :P But most of us don't care what other's say?

"You make fun of me because I play DDR? Let's see you do this."

I can almost imagine the DDR club getting club of the year for doing volunteer services at the arcades frequently.

"And club of the year goes to THE DDR CLUB, for destroying the ego's of 50 DDR beginners at the local arcade. GOOD JOB!"

i would love to start a DDR club, but i have a very small graduating class i'm a sophmore, 80 sophmores, and only 43 seniors graduated this year, i live way out on the east end of longisland, but i am buying 2 CF's so those would be great pads to start a club with.

My school has this thing called the "Wake-A-Thon" which is basically half the school sleeping over at the school. they advertised that they had DDR but i found out it was 2 broken soft pads with a PS2, i couldnt make it.

but that may be a really good place to pitch a DDR club and get everyones interest E4.gif

EDIT: the only problem would probably be the principal because she isnt exactly the most compassionate person and i'm not sure if she would appreciate DDR E2.gif

I sold the PTA on buying 2 ignitions by talking up the physical fitness end of DDR. I told them that instead of sitting and working their thumbs, the kids actually work up a sweat dancing without realizing it. I also said that the people into DDR are usually the ones not involved in a school sport and would benefit the most from this activity.

Not that we're a bunch of anti-social misfits..... but you know, alot of us are very independant minded, not 'go with the flow' type of people. When they say, 'now, lets all...' we tend to go the other way. E13.gif

I take my CF pads to school every other month, and it works out great. In fact the heavy footers prefer to wait for those pads and the novices like the soft ignitions. The only drawback is that they are so *darn* heavy! I wanted to use a dolly but the school's doors are too narrow.

I know I'm crazy, but our school system is setting up a four middle school wide party at the High School and I was asked to bring my equipment. I'm planning on taking the CFs since they're almost indestructable, but I think I'll leave the soft pads at home. I don't want to have to guard them all night.

Anyways, do some research on the net and print off articles supporting the good DDR does for alot of people. Also, ask around, I found out a teacher and a janitor at our middle school are closet dancers. They do it when their kids aren't home and no one can see them. E1.gif Was quite a surprise to me.

well school doesnt start for another week and a half for me E7.gif so when i get back and get a feel for my new teachers i will try to start my campaing, the wake-a-thon is towards the beginning of the year so i will have to get things squared away quickly, plus i think the school would like this idea plus i think they would like the idea of, all they have to do is host the event they dont have to pay for anything, (maybe two ignitoin soft pads) even though our school is kinda of a rich with high taxes blah blah so it wont hurt them at all hopefully riiight.gif
