So the Exceed website is up now.
http://www.piu4home.com/
I don't know how much of what's on the site is news; I havn't really been keeping up on the game since I've pretty much given up on dance games at home. Still, it confirms a release date (August 31, I didn't even know that much XD) and looks like it's got some other neat stuff. I'll look around it later.
EDIT: Elvis on PIU? O_o |

I've seen the site. I didn't notice this until now, but there's an error on the website: Under the 'Hear It' menu, under the K-Pop songlist, one of the songs is listed as Com'Back by Sechskies, but the background/banner is incorrectly shown as Come To Me by BanYa. Whoopsie.
And yeah, that release date has been pretty much set in stone since the New Orleans tournament last month. I can't wait. Finally, I can practice Pump at home. (And yes, I know about the PC versions).

Hey, Elvis was on DDR Ultramix 2, why not Pump It Up? Of course, I'd much rather have Jailhouse Rock or Hound Dog, but meh. _________________

Yeah, that Elvis remix is a pretty famous one. That remix was also on a Euromix before it was on UM2.
I can pass most 14s, but Blazing is kicking my buttocks. Any suggestions?

Try IGYAML (I'll Give You All My Love). Sure, it's a 16, but it's simple runs with no twisting, and three "threes". That and Canon D Full. If you can pass those and still can't pass Blazing, try practicing Go Away since it has a ton of threes to practice on. I know I'm still working on those. ; People say to just slide them, but it's easier said then done.
If you can pass most 14s, try Monkey Fingers for some fun. ^^ Don't miss the freezes, and flail your foot like crazy, and you should be aliright. |

geez, u guys r good @ these kind of games, I only played Pump it Up once or twice in arcades, The only song that I know of that I can pass is Canon D on whatever the easiest setting is (I know I'm not nearly as good @ PIU as I am @ DDR) BTW I cant wait 4 it 2 come out on PS2 even tho i played it like once or twice, I AM HOOKED!!!!!!(hopefully I can find other songs that I can pass besides Canon D, if it's on there, plzzzzz tell me it's on there, I dont want to fail the first 100 times I play PIU @ home) |

If I can pressure Miklotov into getting me a listing of the AUDIO directory (if exists on the PS2 version), I'll tell you if it's on both versions. |

Don't worry about the death run. The rest of it is pretty easy; I'd say focus on comboing the beginning and end, which isn't tough at all, and you're almost guaranteed a pass; probably an A too. _________________

I'd like to go on record as saying that Doubles on Pump It Up (in the form of the weirdly-named Freestyle mode) is really hard for those who don't have much Pump experience. Having a bit of DDR/ITG experience under my belt, I was able to easily handle everything on Normal mode on Pump It Up (after taking a few songs to learn the foot positioning) and some songs on Hard... but Freestyle mode, yikes, forget about it. I appreciate the songlist someone posted that helped me to pick out the easiest Freestyle mode songs to try, but even doing the 3- and 4-rated ones, I could barely pull C's on a few of them. I get really messed up by all the steps being the same color regardless of timing, and by the lack of an x1.5 speed mod. Even the easiest Freestyle stepcharts are much harder than Light Double on DDR, featuring a ton more both-pad jumps, eigth note runs involving both pads, and rapid back-and-forth movement. I guess I need to work on getting comfortable with Hard mode before tackling Freestyle mode, because PIU has no doubles equivalent to Normal/Light to let you break in gently like DDR/ITG does, which is a shame because Doubles on Pump It Up has so many more combinations of foot positions to learn than DDR/ITG does. _________________

It just takes practice with Pump with doubles. It took me a month before I started passing doubles. The first one I passed was Rolling Xmas, but some other easy ones are XiBomBomBom, Greenhorn, Go, Final Audition (the very first one), and Valenti. All of them are low bpm, and should be easy to pass. Try 3x for your first time through, and just get used to hitting the arrows. Then you can use slower speed mods (or none), and start doing some freestyling once you get used to everything. |

1) Yes it is cool.
2) Got it off of eBay.
3) Seconding Cutriss, no.
4) No idea. I assumed that if you hacked enough at it, you could get it to run on PC, but it wouldn't be worth it. |

PIU hit stores yesterday and I thought that I'd go ahead and be the first to post impressions/review of it. Let it be known that this is the PS2 version I'm talking about. Though my only recent experience with the series was last week with Exceed 2 (my first time playing that version), I must say that the home version (or CS, whatever you prefer) is excellent! Let's start with the interface. The whole theme of it just screams of awesomess from the main menus to the music select screen, but this is expected for the PIU series. The heavy bass drum beats that play along in the menus really gets you, for the lack of a better word, pumped! This, as far as the interface is concerned, just seals the deal when compared to ITG's generic interface and can be placed next to DDR's (5th Mix to MAXes and not counting EX US!). As for the pad, IMO it has to be the best pack-in pad that I've ever played on! It's not a Red Octane or Cobalt Flux but it get's the job done. The pad hardly slips when playing some hard level songs (though this may change when I decide to play crazy level songs), and very responsive. I must say that that surprised me! It's not all perfect, though.
There are flaws when it comes to navigating the menus with the pad. Can't really blame it considering the source but as veteran PIU players may know, the arcade version doesn't have buttons on the machine a la DDR for menu navigation and song selection alone so the pad must be used. It's not consistant; between the arrows are seperate directions (up, down, left, and right) for ONLY the menu navigation. This boggled me since down-left and down-right were the navigation buttons for everything in the arcade. Those same buttons work for ONLY the music selection in the CS release. Speaking of that, it may be only me but selecting your songs is a chore. The center button makes confirmations, the upper buttons changes the list of music, and a cobination of them all are used for modifications. The reason for it being cumbersome is because 80% of the time you're standing on the center button while doing it all. I tried placing my feet horizontally between the arrows so I wouldn't have to "hop" to make confirmations but the gap, depending on foot size and I have big feet mind you, is too small so you may still hit either button by mistake. Also, why oh why hasn't Andamiro gone the DDR route and show difficuty levels BEFORE you make the first selected song confirmation and have mod options instead of relying on button codes? But all of this (except the small gap thing) was originally in the arcade so if you can deal with it there, you're right at home here.
The music? There's a craplaod!! The back of the box claims to have 101 songs in all, way more than individual US DDR releases and ITGs (no beating around the bush with "Over 65 songs and over 100 minutes of music," DDR!), but you have to unlock a majority of them of course. Some are right there for you to see on the song wheel but darkened along with the unlock method scroolling on the bottom of the screen. The list of music ranges from Banya songs, K-Pop songs, and Pop songs. As I said earlier, I experienced Exceed 2 recently and I think all of the songs from that version made it on this release (but feel free to correct me on this one). There's even a few old "new" songs not in the arcade such as "Rappers Delight" by The Sugarhill Gang, "Let's Groove" by Earth, Wind, and Fire, and "Name of the Game" by The Crystal Method. The songs are of varying quality and some are an aquired taste *cough* "Deux" *cough*. In short, a song you may consider a "dud" may be another person's favorite. You may even find some songs that DDR used in a way (can you spot the song where "V" originated from?). All the songs in PIU fashion have their own videos varying from 2D animations and FMV and in execellent quality, especially the "Name of the Game" video (the one with the nose for a head). It's like you're watching actual high resolution, DVD quality footage unlike with DDR's music videos witch can be low-res and somewhat grainy. Sound quality is great since now I can easily hear song lyrics coming from my own room and not background noise along with it from other arcade games.
Overall, if you're a fan of dancing games (and if you're reading this, you are!) and K-Pop, I reccommend this game a worthy buy. If you're not a fan because you're a J-Pop fanatic (IMO they both have their good and bad points), four diagonal arrows with a center button, and no mods for vivids scare you, well, it'll definately tide you over for the 27 days until the release of DDR EX2.
I rate it an 8.9 out of 10. _________________

Hmmm, I just bought PIU for PS2, and I actually am not to happy with the pad. But I guess that's becuase i'm not used to playing on the soft pads, I have TX-6000's for DDR. But, oh well, PIU is by far my favorite dancing game. Is dignity on the home version??
~Thnx
PS: Does anyone have info on metal pads for PIU coming out? _________________
