Maybe it's something big? It's true that the new MGS game, SLAI, and DDR Extreme 2 are going to need their own servers. (Unlike Microsoft, I think Sony leaves the servers up to the publisher.) But if Konami just needed a few game servers then they wouldn't be buying an "online gaming platform". Or would they? I mean, Konami could've called AT&T and said "We need hosting for approximately this many game clients." But AT&T hosts tons of stuff and that's not always headline-worthy. So apparently AT&T is doing more than just some hosting here.

Personally, I hope it's E-Amuse or something similar. The clue was the repeated phrase "online gaming platform". That's what makes me think that the system is more than a server. AT&T also hosts some of Battle.Net and that's also called an online gaming platform. Also, the director of Konami's North America Data Center said: "AT&T has the reliable, robust infrastructure we need to launch into the online gaming market." So I take this to mean that Konami intends to launch into the online gaming market. E15.gif And again, to me, that sounds bigger than a DDR Extreme 2 server. But then again, maybe it is just the DDR Extreme server. But if it is E-Amuse then we're gettin' games! biggrin.gif

Thoughts?

olol MMODDR

I imagine Konami is planning something big, but I doubt it has much to do with DDR.

Keep in mind that ATT also hosts the Battle.Net networks...so I hope the quality isn't the same.
