Hello,

I just recently graduated from college. I'll be 22 in a few weeks. Anyways I need a job. I thought about normal jobs at first. You know, a psychologist, a doctor, a receptionist, a researcher, those types of things.

But those are all boring. I've decided instead that I want to play DDR for a living. I'm probably not the greatest out there, but i'm okay! I figure with practice I could be even better!

Now I know that other people can do sports for a living. Take skateboarders and football players for instance. They get payed to play games. Well I don't see why I shouldn't get payed for DDR.

So what do I have to do to make this happen!!

I really, really hope this is a joke... but if it isn't;

DDR isn't a professional sport. When's the last time you turned on your TV and saw a DDR tournament? I'm gonna go ahead and say never. No one's gonna sponsor someone who wants to participate in a game that isn't professionally recognized. The only way you might even be able to consider the possibility of making DDR a career is if you're so good that you can win a crapload of tournaments, and live off the winnings from that. I'm assuming you're not that good.

At least you got your college education.

You need to go back to college, because you apparently failed to learn a lot of things. Maybe you should get a job related to your field of study, unless you majored in some fluff course.

It's true that ddr isn't professionally recognized right now, but everything has to have a start somewhere doesn't it?

I think people need to be a little bit more optimistic!

Maybe to do DDR for a living I could organize tournaments, get people to watch it on tv, make it more popular, turn it in to a real sport with teams and sponsors!

I don't see why not.

But it makes it difficult when the very people who like DDR are unsupportive toward the idea.

I suppose all things start out this way.

DDR for a living=you living a cardboard box talking to imaginary people

You would have to be Take-esque to be able to do it for a living, I'd imagine even he has a real job

Oh, your career SURELY can't be something you like or have a passion for, huh?

It'd be cool, but I don't think it's possible. Software engineer...

Maybe if you owned a TV station (had access to TV cameras) and loved DDR and were the greatest promotional speaker ever, than you might be able to do it.

The only way you will get money by playing ddr is if you enter tournaments and unless you are sooooooooo phrekin' 1337 and can AAA PSMO Shuffle, Dark, Shealth, on top of a bursting volcano, fighting off a million of Jet Li clones, while balancing an elephant with a toothpick on your nose all the time then don't even try to make ddr a profession. sorry to break it to you, but it's a no-no.

I win a tournament around once a month, and I can tell you after gas, food, and partying, I come back home with almost no profit. So good luck paying bills and stuff.

I start my first day of college tomorrow. Reading this topic gives me great hope that I am competent enough to pass my courses with flying colors.

Sorry, that was really mean....but these guys are right. Whatever you majored in, use that to get yourself somewhere fairly lofty.

cassima, actually saying that "i'm okay!" (with a big fat exclamation point) shows that you aren't any good at this game.

i ran a tournament back in my hometown and the income was $216. i made no profit. this was mostly by choice, but even still there really wasn't much place for me to take anything for myself. that's less than what you get per month on welfare.

i think toady's word is very credible here. he's speaking from his own experiences. maybe you should listen.

many of these big money sports have decades where people made next to nothing. perhaps if you can show us how you plan on getting this to work, people will listen. but until you do that, you just sound like someone who is overly obsessed.

Getting it big in DDR is like getting it big by being a professional ant-rider.

Not only is it a dumb dream (at this point), but you generally get your dreams crushed like the ant you are trying to ride frown.gif

Trust me, I though Jo-Jo would deliver me the Kentucky Ant Derby, but I was the only Jocky over an ounce.
